Making it up the spinning tower of blades in God of War 1. I'm not lucky because I completed the feat, I'm lucky because I didn't decide to break my goddamned TV in the process.
I feel your pain. That section drove me nuts... Kratos so much as brushed his shoelace off one of those things and it was wheeeeeeee splat.

They admitted it was the one section they neglected to playtest, actually.
I died about 15 times going up that thing. Oddly enough, when I DID finally make it up, I made it up without so much as getting a scratch. Even unlocked the trophy for it (PS3).

....and it was then, after a huge sigh of relief, that you noticed your reward for making it up the spikey pillar was...

...another spikey pillar!

That time I got to 10 seconds on the VVVVVV super gravitron. That thing is hard!
Oh and that time I landed a run with less than 50 deaths. :D.
In other games, I remember once playing a 1v1 in Homeworld 2. I was a decent player, and was playing one of the best. I went for an unorthadox starting build because I suspected that the guy was going to try something funky and it just so happened that I built the perfect response. I did win the game, although I would never suggest I was anywhere near as good as he was. I played my absolute best and got lucky with a starting gambit

Quake 3: Team Arena on one of the CTF out door maps ... the one with the castles on either "end" of the serpentine valley (been so long i don't even remember the map name). I was running along the wall in my base with the doubler and rail gun trying to peg a flag carrier with the scout power up and as he (or she) ran from one pillar to the next in the fort on the hill, i lagged a bit and when my connection resumed i was falling down from the wall. i hit the trigger anyway and i happened to nail him with a single shot, which caused him to drop the flag, it to be picked up by one of my team mates and subsequently allowed for us to capture the other teams flag and win.

luckiest.shot.ever.

agreed .. that was a horrible, horrible moment in that series. i too had to shut off the PS3 after both that one and the one in underworld with the horizontally rotating pillars with the blades caused me to fall to my untimely death more than a few times.

I've had too many lucky online moments. Most recent was this afternoon on Reach, where a zombie rolled at me and I had no idea of it. He just scrapped past me and fell off the edge. Phew...

Insert magikarp being awesome here
Thats just... O.O nice job magikarp! Proof that magikarp is awesome!
Evolving it felt dirty after it did that.

Just thought of another.

Fallout 3- Deathclaw chasing me and I am about to have my nipples turned into a fetching belt. Decide screw it, one last vats shot with the shotgun. Does nothing and just as he is about to make me into a stew........

BANG! Stranger comes out of nowhere and blasts him away.

If I could, I would marry man, have his children and live with him til the end of time...

Ok this was one of my personal favorites, When I was playing Nazi Zombies I got a sniper rifle from the random chest we were about overrun, I scoped in a panic fired the rifle and out of nowhere I hear the sound bleep bloop achievement unlocked (Rough Economy) I just went whaaaaaat? =O

This one started out lucky but ended in despair but I'll tell it anyway, on Oblivion I got an amazing spellbook called the Touch of Death from a dungeon, I was a stealth character so it was the best spell for me to have with my huge percentage of Chameleon, I was walking around the dungeon killing monsters left and right, I got so into it I forgot to save my game and I tripped a trap and was killed... I tried to reload my game to before I got the spell at least seven times and I didn't get it again. =(

On MW2, our team was losing by a few points, but were getting our butts whipped. To top it off, I was on the bottom of the rankings. Out of frustration, I threw a random semtex in the general direction of a blip, on the other side of the building. Well I stuck a dude in the middle of taking out guys in the bunker. Needless to say, he was with the rest of his team and they got blown to smithereens. I bumped us up just as the timer ran out. And was rewarded by a brutal "How the fuck did you get an 8 player multi-kill at the last second!?"

Best. Match. Ever.

i was fighting the biggest baddest boss in castlevania SOTN (if you played, you know who im talking about). i found a little spot in front of his foot where i can attack him and he could never reach me. so i attacked again and again and again without suffering any damage.

the whole boss fight took me about 10 minutes. considering how many hit points that boss had, i really really got lucky on that one.

It was MW2 of Afghan, two teams of four. The other team had two kills left to win, we had three to win. Somehow (don't ask for specifics) two of the guys on my team were trapped in the plane, pinned down by the entire other team who all had effing sniper rifles. Snap to the cliff behind them: me and my last teammate stood plotting awesomeness. Our plan went the best it could have went. I nailed him in the back with a Semtex while he Lightweight+Marathoned his ass up to the sniping post and kamikazed ALL FOUR OF THEM WITH THE ONE SEMTEX ON HIS BACK.

I don't think I have ever laughed harder than that. By the way, one of them was the game-winning kill for our side.

You sir are LAZY. Real men get down on the floor, bust out the strength potions and meal tickets, and fight Galamoth toe-to-toe instead of stun-locking him.

I was playing FF7 and getting owned by the ghost boss, Gi Nattak. I was having to put 2 chars on heal and one on offense, but was constantly dying. Once I accidentally selected Nattak instead of Tifa for my Phoenix Down, and the boss DIED! Note: I didn't know until then that healing hurts undead, or that a boss in a game would be given such a broken weakness. Now I just use a Phoenix Down from the start for a one-shot and easy xp! Of course, the item cloning trick learned later makes it so you can go undead-hunting later since you can clone Downs infinitely. This game is immensely broken if you take the time to learn things' weaknesses.

i had no idea there was a call to be a real man when playing castlevania (or any other video game, for that matter).

I think mine was in TF2. I was playing a payload map (sorry, I'm kinda new to TF2, don't remember the name; it was the final map, has a bridge on it right before the first checkpoint (also, that's the only checkpoint, at least i think so)). I was of defense and had played like 10 h of the game. I liked the Engineer so i built a sentry to a random spot and upgraded it to level 3 ASAP. When the round started, it started killing the enemies. And killing, and killing. In total the sentry killed 14 enemies (to me, it's a whole shitload), a big part of the time i had to run back from the base since i died.

But the sentry kept on killing. I think the enemy thought our team had retreated and kinda rushed it. And my sentry caught them unaware. Anyways, i was maddened with happiness that time.

I've never really been terribly good at mw2 but I really enjoy playing it.My friend is one of those people who go for the best kills and game winning kill cams, going around trying to noscope everyone.A real zirgrizz fanboy.so i was helping him make a montage but could only go for no scopes or quick scopes which I find I'm actually okay with.Anyway,I'm running through Afghan and decide that I'd better go for some descent kills or he'll be pissed and end up getting a double kill right off the bat.come back to life, get a payback, run up a little hill jump, shoot and hit someone.die.come back to life.walk off again.find a sniper who somehow didn't see me.kill him.walk further on.two people run round the corner, all guns blazing.manage to get one and then die.it was a pretty good run.

I'm surprised to find myself doing extremely well in tight situations when i'm going for skill shots.like when on terminal i walked through the room with all the books.found two people both shooting at me.quick scope one in the head without thinking.turn and quick scope the other in the head.now imagine all this happening withing about 4 seconds.I sat in shock for a few seconds afterwards as my friend stared at me with an open mouth.when i finally realized what happened i just smirked and said 'pwnd'.maybe not my luckiest moment but definitely good.

in fact here's the video for the afghan bit.

Jesus.I just watched the video and I don't actually die.WTF.I get a five kill streak, die and then come back for a snazzy kill.Even more awesome.
