I haven't had any problems with Gamestop. So if you have problems with the employees. It's not the company. It's where you live, and you know you complain that they are douchebags? Chances are you are exactly like them.

Other then the prices which employees can't control I have no problem with Gamestop.

Wanted to buy Left 4 Dead, they said: "we'll sell it to you for $60"

It seemed rather fishy, so I passed on his offer and went to Walmart which was right next door, got the same game for $20.

I think next time I'm going to go to GameStop, ask how much Halo Reach is and if they give me a price higher than $30, buy the game at Walmart, go back to Gamespot and tell the guy that their prices are bullshit and proceed to tell them off until I'm satisfied.
You know, you come off as the bigger asshole here. Its not the clerks fault that his company has high prices, take it up with them and stop being such a douche about it.

This is actually my problem with a lot of complaints, people say they will yell at the employee, when I have been on the receiving end of it, and it takes all my restraint not to reach over and shut the customer up. Its not our fault. Complain to the actual company. We are not the company.

OT:

My worst experience has been pretty minor. Got sold a broken game. It was used and they hadn't tested it and they gave me a new one when I told them. This is the UK game btw.
More or less, my frustration is with the company, and I'm sorry you get that impression, my appologies, but when I asked the clerk who told me he'd sell it to me for $60, I asked him if I would it be $60 everywhere else seeing the game was like 3 years old and in my past experiences games that are out that long have a dramatic price decrease. To which he said no and looked at me like I was crazy.
The look I can't explain, but him saying no is part of his job. If he tells you to go somewhere else, he loses his rating (yeah, clerks work on ratings in game.). Not his fault at all dude.

The company itself is pretty crappy, its just, people complaining to clerks grates on me a bit, sorreh

Don't be sorry dude, I jump the gun quite a bit and that usually frustrates people. I can see where your coming from, I've never had to work it because I prefer manual labor, but I've seen it happen. I guess if the manager is around I'll talk to him, but at the time I was like: "Fucking really?"

never had a bad experience in fact I've had nothing but good experiences. Every one I have been to (outside of one mall location that is tiny and as such cluttered) has been neat clean and staffed by people who wouldn't normally get shot in the head for incompetence under dictatorship like the fucktards who work at walmart. the manager who was working the one i frequented for a number of years always gave me free Pre-order stuff like little toys or art books or shit like that(note this is just giving it to me not giving it because i actually made a Pre-order for whatever game it was for), hell I got a free copy of Afro-Samurai on blu-ray just because I always came in and had a ps3 to play it

I guess my Gamestop was built with bricks blessed by the pope of everything good or something because every time I go there, the employees have been nothing but nice and helpful... hell, one even answered all of my questions when the line for Pokemon was out the door...

I was about to buy a copy of Dead Space when some mom saw my shirt, when she asked what "Roosterteeth" meant, I told her it was a machinima company, before I could say that I didn't work there, she handed me five dollars and said, "Every dollar counts, I know what you're going through." and left. I spent that five dollars on a double quarter mcpounder, with cheese.

Aside from that the employees are pretty nice people who often have the same interests as I do, they even play DLC on release day (I asked if Severed for DS2 was worth it, they said it was short but cool, I enjoyed it as well)

Gamestop's been pretty good to me... except on two occasions.

1. I once sold 21 games there. Yes, you heard me. 21 in one go. They were mostly Xbox 360 titles with a PS3 one in there and a few PS2's. Let me just tell you, if I got half of what they were going to sell those game for, I would have been much happier leaving that store.

2. I once bought Devil May Cry at Gamestop. They gave me Devil May Cry 2. You don't understand how bad that is.

N/A. I buy my games at Best Buy. Apparently, for good reason.
I'm the exact opposite. I get my games off the internet (Steam, Amazon, D2D) or at Gamestop, for good reason. Best Buy has fucked me over enough for one life time.

OT: None. Gamestop I go to is fine. I talk to the guy there all the time, and they are all pretty nice and helpful.

Gamestop is like EA. It is damn near a monopoly, it provides atrocious service/products, it significantly damages the industry it's in, and it must die. For that reason, don't use it, it's that simple. I never buy not-online, and it serves me well.

I walked into the store, asked if they had a game in stock. They did, I went to the counter to purchase it. They asked if I'd like to subscribe to Game Informer, I said no thank you. I payed and went on my merry way.

Those bastards. How dare they try to sell me something.

In all seriousness now, I've never had an issue with Gamestop like so many others seem to. So I have no real stories like the OPs.

I've never had a problem with Gamestop. Sure, the trade-in values could be slightly better, but the employees I met are very kind and professional. I must be lucky I guess.

Damn, I'm glad the GS by me has great people. I never had these problems, now if only the company could give me extra cash for trade ins, other then waiting for a bonus trade, just to get a fair amount. But its business not much to do.

Well, There is one cool gamestop in my town, all the others suck. the people their still try to sell me everything, but as long as they're aren't any potential customers in the shop, they will be straight up with me bout games.
OT: there was this one time me and 4 friends walked over to one because we had 20 minutes to blow before class started again, and as we walked in, an older man with a young boy were standing a good 15 feet inside the shop looking at some games. Sean walked in, then me, then Cam started to walk in when the older gent said "are you gonna show some respect?" We finished walking in and he left and said "Apparently not." coulda happened anywhere really, so not sure it counts.

My worst gamestop experience, was as an employee.

Being called by a customer who literally wanted to call, just to yell at me. I seriously asked the guy "I understand you're upset, but I'm not sure I can do anything. I'm just a sales associate. I have no power" and he replied with "I don't want you to do anything. I just want you to feel bad for what you did."

For the record, what I did, was fail to explain in intimate detail the return policy. I said to the guy, "If it was open, you can't return it for full refund. If you don't open it, you can get your money back if it has been less than 14 days" and somehow it's my fault that I didn't explain to him what would happen if it was broken. He asked what the return policy was. If he wanted to read the full page document, he could have.

Seriously. People think that the employees know everything about every game and system in existence. I like video games, but I had never owned a ps3 or 360. I didn't know much about them. I tried my best to learn but there is always something you miss.

Sorry about the rant. I'm just getting really tired of people hating on employees.

I waited 20 minutes for a guy to try to find a game I want. The reason he was having such a hard time finding it was because he was looking for a Gamecube game in the PS2 section. I wasn't in a rush and I can't hate him for it since he kept looking and eventually found it. I know plenty of times they had a case on the shelf and when I bring it up they look for a minute and say too bad they don't have it.

Not directed at me but a bit of failed gaming knowledge by a Gamestop employee.

Mom was buying games for his kid. Kid liked comic book games. Gamestop employee said MvC3 had just come out and that it was the sequel to a widely popular PS2 Exclusive.
I just laughed to myself knowing that it was originally an arcade game that was ported and came out a few years prior to the PS2's release.
