I only came here for ZP, and after fifty episodes I noticed another series called 'Unskippable' which was funny. And THEN after a while, I started noticing really interesting topics that popped up on the right on this screen. Lots of innovative polls and such.
And after... a year perhaps of just reading, I thought: "Heck, might make myself an account" and this was this week.

:)

I lurked for well over a year before I made my account. Well, it wasn't exactly lurking, just nosing in on the forums now and again to see what the general psyche was on here, as well as reading the articles and watching ZP, which is to this day the only video series I have consistently watched.

For the record, I tried to quote this!

Why did you lurk?
I was a lazy bastard who couldn't be bothered to make an account.

Well, and I came on to the formus only occasionally, so it didn't seem worth it.

Glad I eventually did though. Oh, and welcome to The Escapist. Have fun, don't troll and stay out of The Basment. Good luck.
Thanks! :D I shall do my best. Maybe a peek later on though..

I can't remember. Looking back at all the fun I've had over the (nearly a whole) last year, I can't think of a single reason I would have delayed.

Possibly procrastination, but most likely intimidation from the calibre of conversation (there used to be) on here
I agree with this. The intellectual level here can be pretty daunting for someone new. Many people maybe don't have that problem, but I certainly did.

I didn't lurk at first, and instead I jumped head-first into the conversations. I guess it ended well! But lately, all I do is lurk, with an occasional post. Like this one!
I feel privileged! Kind of the opposite to me. This is quite a sudden jump for me. Im quite proud of myself, actually!

It'd be like strapping yourself to a table, right next to all of the Christmas presents.
Is it bad of me that I skim read that too fast and came to the conclusion that you are into light bondage at times of festivity?

I still lurk quite a lot, mainly because someone's always ninja'd me. Always.

Lurked for a while, made an account, i've made less than 30 posts in 2 years, so I haven't completely given up lurking.

As with many others, I first arrived here after clicking the link on Yahtzee's blog. After a few episodes I was getting to the point where after every episode I would lurk around the forums for a little while. I found it pretty interesting, so I started coming here with the intention of lurking. Then after a month or so I decided to join.

Nope, that would be a reasonable assumption. Tell me where your spies are and we can call it quits...

I have been called out for being a lurker several time because apparently I am obligated to have a high post count because I have been here so long. I joined the escapist about a month after I discovered the site and really enjoyed reading the weekly posts from the staff. Now I only comment when I feel that my opinion is going to be unique, helpful, or if I want to correct someone.

Unskippable dragged me over here. Than came Zero Punctuation. Than came the interesting topics at the right of the screen.

Than I thought "Ehh, why not?"
Have had a lot of fun and a good time for elaborating stuff. Also found out some gold that I'd never find otherwise.

Ur doin it rong!!
I didn't lurk on the forums. I don't know why I joined, I only came to watch the videos. I probably saw the threads and thought they were interesting.

I got shown ZP on here, made my account since it seems the community is mostly like-minded and friendly. I'm kind of a half-lurker. I don't post much, and probably nothing too life-changing when I feel like contributing, but perhaps I'll become more bold eventually :p
I read a lot of threads without posting, so yeah.. I lurk a bit.

I lurked for about 5 months or so watching videos and not really paying attention to videos before I finally made an account. Now I post a couple times a day!! Go me.

I mainly joined because of Zero Punctuation, but lurked because i didn't want to comment on stuff and get verbally raped. So far, so good...

Lurked for about 8 months just watching ZP and reading the occasional article, and then decided to actually join, partially out of boredom and also because the threads are entertaining.

I did, essentially, not lurk at all.
I encountered the forums one night, and after having browsed through some topic I thought "I lajk" and then created my account here.
