I lurked for three quarters of a year watching ZP mainly. Posted stuff for 3 months, now back to lurking, occasionally posting. Forums get boring, with the same stupid topics on repeat.

from 2009 untill i saw this thread
Well, it IS a really awesome thread! :D
I'd say welcome and stuff, but I only posted my first about 2 hours ago, so it would be a little silly of me. Glad to have given you a reason to post though! I feel so useful!

Except me, i see you Lurking!
You can't see me lurking if I'm not lurking right now! AH-HA! Fuck wait, now you can see me anyway.

OT:I didn't really "lurk" in the forums for that long. I came here originally for ZP. Next I found UR and Unskippable. Eventually I noticed the forums and decided to check them out. They seemed pretty good and so I created an account. So now here I am! Currently I check up on a couple of the video series each week. And of course browse the forums constantly.

I lurked for over a year, but then I decided to create an account after I quit WoW because I needed a new forum to post and cause trouble on. ;P

Hey, all. I think I'm doing this right. Fingers crossed. I've just made an account here, after 6 months of hanging around and contributing nothing. I think this is a new topic, and yes, I used the searchbar. This just seemed like a fitting first topic. If it fails and goes unnoticed, I shall blame you all for my lowered self esteem. Just bear that in mind.

Anyway, I was wondering, how many of you people lurked on the escapist before you decided to join the community? If you did, how long for? Can you beat me? Why did you lurk?

As for me, I'm just a very lazy person, and there's a fair few people on these forums who voice the same opinions as me, much more eloquently than I could; It seemed a little pointless to join topics and discussions just to reiterate points other people had already made. I really like this site, though, and felt like giving something back, seeing as it has kept me entertained for such a long time now. So that's why I stopped lurking.

Again, sorry if this topic has been covered before. I tried my best to be original, damn it!

EDIT: I should maybe have mentioned, Unforgotten Realms brought me here. I stayed for the other videos like ZP and, recently, Doraleous, as well as for some genuinely interesting forum topics. I made my account back in March Mayhem, so that I could vote. Then left it unused until today. What fun!
I lurked somewhere between 6 months and a year and a half I believe, then one day I saw a topic I couldn't hold my opinion towards. Either that or decided it was time to start commenting. (can't remember which)

I discovered this site in Jan '09, not long after New Year's, and I lurked until May. I lurked because I hated forums so I had no reason to make an account until I noticed the badges. I loves me some collecting so I made my account not long after the Webby badge was handed out but just before the 4th birthday badge. To this day I am still pissed that I missed the Webby badge (I voted for the Escapist, by the way).

I lurked for about 10 minutes before I realized I really wanted to respond to some of these people.

I lurked for a few months for ZP mainly.

Then I realised it wasn't so great. And a few thousand posts in I have a adorable puppy avatar. That watches your soul.

I lurked here for over 2 years ( since November '07!) before creating my account in February, but I've been pretty active since then, and would like to think I contribute well to this fantastic community.

Welcome! :)

I half lurk/ half post. Somedays I don't comment on anything, somedays I can't stop commenting on everything I find interesting. I don't know.

Its more fun to post than it is to lurk.

Oh, I lurked for at least a year or more, always seeing posts I'd like to comment on and finally joining. Zero Punctuation pulled me in though initially.

I came here only to watch ZP. Then, if I was bored, I'd click through the threads that popped up on the side, and read through some of them. Then, one day, I decided to join in and post in those threads. Then, a few weeks later, I actually did it.

Since several of my posts made it to the Letters to the Editors, I think it's been worth it. But mostly, I just post on a thread then fly away and never see if my post adds to the discussion in any meaningful way.

I joined for ZP, and lurked for a few months before making an account in some sort of vague attempt to avoid ads(it made sense at the time), and didn't actually start posting until I disagreed with one of Moviebob's reviews.

I lurk all the time, and I have been for almost a year. I only recently made an account.

Actually, I'm fairly certain this will be one of my first posts.

I just never have anything I feel is interesting enough to contribute, I suppose.

I'm shy, even on the internet.

I made an account and then lurked for probably over a year.
I guess that makes me a creeper, pretty much.

I still lurk now most of the time.... >.>

Lurked for some 5-7 months then joined up, lurked some more for another month with a few posts in between until I actually started posting regularly.
