I have never found a metal band I truly like besides System of a Down...do they even count?

Also, I am open, please suggest a metal band.

Fyi, i don't like death, black, screamo metal.
Screamo isnt metal.

Now go try some Animals as Leaders and Black Sabbath.
I do know what it is called. Harmonic metal? When the voice is very soft and flowery then randomly screams.

Ok i will.

I'm probably going to alienate myself with this, but I love Helmet, DragonForce, and Blind Guardian. There, I said it. I thoroughly enjoy those bands, especially Blind Guardian. Let the hatred commence!

PS-Also a huge fan of Mastodon.

PPS-Also Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Disturbed, Daath, Godsmack, and Exodus.

I don't have any specific favorite bands, but Cynic is absolutely fantastic. I love both Focus and Traced in Air.

But I did find this one deathcore band that is REALLY good. Like really, really good. They play this mix of Djent with jazz fusion and the result is amazing.

I like Military history so its no suprise that my favorite Metal Band is Sabaton.

I also like Manowar. THis vid is set to scenes from Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000, which makes it that much more awesome

A friend just introduced me to Ensiferum and Waylander

There is a lot of black metal on this which i can listen to i little bit but i guess i'm a pussy cause i can't really handle it. I like classic metal the most bands like iron maiden, metallica, motar head those sort of bands but i do enjoy other heavy metal like bullet and slipnot but i don't really get that heavy. I like iron maiden the most. I like them because of how tallented the whole band is and not just the lead guitarist. I like how the race at the beggining and the end but throught the middle they slow down. They constantly experementing with dinamics, tempo and key areas other bands fear of dwelling into. Metallica is proberly next on my list for all the soft finger picking songs and the drumming in the heavy songs.
Slipknot isn't heavy metal, not by a LOOOOOOONG shot.

Blind Guardian, Cynic, Opeth, Gojira, Death, Firewind, Iron Maiden

I could care less about genres, calling X band experimental-anti-folk-jazz-dub-core makes no difference to how the band actually sounds.

I've always been a fan of Sevendust and Nonpoint. They may no be the "metal" that the people in this group like, but they're still metal.

This metal is not metal. It's retarded maladjusted teenagers with too much distortion. I don't know how they got in their parent's make up closet, but it sure isn't helping with public perception. Not to mention that they should have spent all the money they used to buy skulls and 8 crappy ESPs to buy actual guitar lessons.

tl;dr Radiohead is better than any crappy black/death/grind/goat-sacraficing/trying-too-hard/power metal will ever be.

Yes they are. But they're not death/black/whatever. They're just...metal
