Not sure if this was done in the first two games, but I would like to see spells level up with you. For me to get a fireball spell at level 3, and at level...10 lets say, it is actually useful still.
A good list overall, but I'm with you 100% on these. Some spells are just way too game-breakingly overpowered (chameleon, paralyze, reflect damage). I too love the Shield effect, as it allowed me to have a well-armored character wearing only simple shirts, pants, and shoes. A plus because I didn't like the look of most of Oblivion's armors.Onyx Oblivion said:There have been a few topics about WHAT DO YOU WANT IN ES5:SKYRIM? But I'd like to focus purely on the intricacies of the magic system. Any Elder Scrolls mage can tell you of the sheer depth and flexibility that magic offers.
I know that most of these things could be done in mods, and probably even have been done in mods for Oblivion, actually. But still...What are some changes to the magic system that you would like built-in by default?
1. DEAR GOD, DON'T MAKE US GO THROUGH A BUNCH OF QUESTS IN DIFFERENT TOWNS OR BUY A DLC TO ACCESS SPELL CREATION AND ENCHANTMENT! SERIOUSLY, THAT PISSED ME OFF WITH MY DOZENS OF MAGE CHARACTERS!
I must have found J'skar at least 50 times! Even my warriors and rogues have to do this shit just to make healing spells.
3. Slowly recharging enchantments, but not as slow as Morrowind, so that warriors don't need Mysticism or Soul Trap enchanted weapons to recharge their stuff.
6. Total removal or fixing of the game-breaking effects like Reflect Damage or Chameleon. Do like the Shield effect, and make those effects cap at 85% or something similar.
7. Once a day powers that aren't shit. Seriously. I'm giving up some permanant stat bonuses here, give me something good. Not shit like "The Serpent".
I'm gonna have to complete your statement that Half-Life 2 and TES are the most modded - and most easily modded - games in existence.HK_01 said:Go to TESNexus, probably the best site for Oblivion mods there is. And it's free!Ruwrak said:Curse me for having it on the 360! (100% completed, of course.) Ill get Tes5 on the PC and hope for such mods. I know Morrowind had a lot, but for Oblivion I never found alot, and my old sources required me to pay 5$ a week for Oblivion mods. I gave them a certain finger. With respect of course.
And get a gaming PC. Mods improve the game so much! There's a lot of games that have great mods, actually, but especially the TES games (and FO3, probably FNV as well).
Totally agree with the post of Ruwrak, and by the way NPC can pick locks and do so (at least they could in Morrowind). Really all the spells you truly needed as a mage where summon ancestoral ghost, lock, levitation and mark/recall. (Summon ancestoral ghost gives you infinte manna if you use the Bretonian/Antroch exploit, and lock/levitation grands you safe places to do so even during fights)Onyx Oblivion said:Since NPCs can't pick locks, and probably won't in Skyrim, either...You are weird with Lock spells.Ruwrak said:I call for the return of Mark & Recall spells.
That, was something that was usefull. And for the housedecorating geek like me, a lock spell would be cool too. I'm weird allright?![]()
But with house decorating, nah.
I always put weapons that have outlived their usefulness in special places. You look pretty on that table, shitty mage's staff I got from the guild at level 5.
dude so true the spear was wicked legitEclectic Dreck said:I do miss using a spear. It seems at times that I'm the only one who likes the spear (or other pole arm) as a weapon in such games. My first play of Morrowind was as a spear wielding Argonian warrior and it was probably my favorite experience with the series.Flapjack94 said:Basically make it morrowind, but with oblivion's engine, combat, and magic. I want more than three kinds of weapons to use
Until I realized that, thanks to my lizard feet and head I was at an eternal disadvantage in terms of armor value.
