In dragon's dogma: Add a fast travel option. Or a different idea for it: Make your companions SHUT THE HELL UP for once.

In ME1: Make all the loot you get actually useful. Seriously, most guns and mods were clearly inferior to a select few. And all you'd ever do was hope to get those select few, and sell all the others. That, or another idea. Make the level up skills feel like they actually matter. +1% extra damage or -0.5 sec on your cd's doesn't exactly help much...

In Minecraft: Remove the exp/enchants/potions and focus more on building/getting items from mobs again.

CoD/BF games: Make guns have more recoil/spread while moving and lower health. Basically, actually make it skill based rather than spray and pray. (I mean, 360-turn kills before you can look skillful? The game's too easy.)

Take the Elder Scrolls series and make it an XP based system where you spend skill points on level up, like Fallout. The "use it to level it" system is the literal definition of a grind. If it were not for the fact that I can play the game in a window and watch netflix while I cast courage on my follower for 2 hours, the game would almost be unplayable.

I'm sorry, I had something insane in my ear. Did you say that II's battle system was better than origins?
Yes because DA2's system actually let me control my basic attack instead of making it an automated pillow fight where it looked like my character was trying to give the enemy a good job pat on the shoulder.

A person with absolutely no sword wielding experience could swing a sword faster than those attack animation in DA:O showed.

Take any Modern shooter, and remove regenerating health. Also 2 weapon limits, but that would be the 2nd coming of christ. Best aim high at first, and aim for impossibility later.
I really, REALLY like regenerating health. I always have. I thought it encouraged experimentation and immersion. Kinda like being shell shocked or something. Think of Battlefield's suppression mechanic.

I get why some people miss the days of the health pack. And in a lot of ways, the fact that every shooter now adays used regen is pretty sad. But I think regen is what's helped FPS' become so mainstream.

But for sure, they should bring back traditional med packs.

Though, some people seem to argue that regen is less realistic... really? You really think so? That makes no sense... Is it a better mechanic? mmmm... I think it's a different mechanic that has it's place, and as I've been saying, it is definitely sad that it's so hard to find now a days.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind it so much if it wasn't in every fucking shooter ever. Even when storyline-wise, your character has no reason for it. Unless they pump testosterone so much that they can regenerate lost limbs with testosterone alone, Ala Gears of War.

All games: allow us to PAUSE DURING CUTSCENES.
I guess it all depends on the system you are playing the game on. With the 360, I've always been able to pause during cutscenes. All you have to do is hit the center X menu button and it freezes the whole game while you go do whatever or mess around with the menu.

So, your idea is good for systems that don't have menu button pause like 360 does.

I'd take any Call of Duty game and have all the firearms digitally replaced with walkee-talkees E.T.-style.

SPORE.

Make the game about warhammer 40k instead of stupid penis monsters. Remove the evolution parts of the game. Use the creature creator to decorate your charachters with Nurgle's gifts.

I would have to say fixing Space Wizards 3's ending, and removing the insta-kills from Banshees, Phantoms, Brutes, Praetorians, and Scions. I would also do away with thermal clips and go back to heat management as thermal clips are stupid.
Yup, though I don't think the idea of thermal clips is completely useless: they could still be used as a limited quick cooldown mechanism.

Also, add a counter in Dishonored that tells you DURING THE MISSION how many people you've killed. Or how many times you've been detected. When I'm going for Ghost and Clean Hands, it would be nice to know how many people have detected me while I'm DOING the mission, rather than afterwards.

A slight change?...hm...

-A skip button in Persona 4, especially for the second playthrough. First hour of the game is nothing but text. I love it, but I just want to play it sometimes.
-Challenges in Brawl get steadily harder as opposed to having an easy-normal-hard setting. Co-op is allowed, but not needed to play other challenges.
-Weapon Master Mode or a semi-competent Story Mode in Soul Calibur 4. At least 3 tried.
-Able to rechallenge trainers in Pokemon Black/White. Grining wild poke'mon is such a *****.
-The ability to pick race in DA2 and have that race come with its own stat abilities.
-The fire-jet ability in Infamous 2. Just holding R2/L2/the button that activates it allows it to be continuous as opposed to constantly hopping upward in mid-air.
-Skyward Sword can keep the new combat system, but allows it to be played via controller.
-Skyrim has a God-Mode after beating it and allows custom map creation. [sub][sub]PC gamers have all the luck with those damn mods.[/sub][/sub]
-Prey's "living weapons" have a function that allows them to talk and can be shut off.

That's all I can think of right now.

Take WoW, fix the broken combat system that's been haunting it since day 1. Enjoy your awesome. (Yeah I know that's not a small change, but its so obvious).

Take Bioshock, change good/evil to Civilized/Savagery (as it was it was going for) and add few tweaks to support that approach, enjoy your sense making overarching theme.

Halo Reach had a racing gametype. Not quite what your were describing but it was there.

The ability to play as Batman would vastly improve many games

You're right, that Arkham Asylum game totally would have sucked if you couldn't play as Batman. ;)
Well I certainly wouldnt have bought it if it starred Aquaman
I'd have played the shit out of Aquam Asylum.

Ahem.

In any case, take Portal guns. Put them in Mirror's Edge. [http://i.imgur.com/Fj1JJ.jpg]

A Total War game with the character-driven political system of Crusader Kings 2.

It would be the ultimate historical strategy game.

Oh god, the El Dorado of historical strategy. I try not to think about this hypothetical game because it's too painful knowing it will never exist.

StarWars Battlefront 2: Put the Bespin map back in.
Ah yes. I loved the Bespin Platforms map.

And, on the subject, I've got a slight change for the original Star Wars Battlefront:
Put a 3 on the end.

Borderlands 1 ending:
Make Steele a boss fight. She was a siren, so it could have been cool. Then you get to open the vault yourself, and that's when you find the tentacle monster.

Duke Nukem Forever:
Proper 9 weapon limit, though it would help if the game wasn't so insanely average. Changing just one thing wont fix all of it

Morrowind:
Magic system that is as effective, if not more so than enchantment spamming

Oblivion:
Failure chance.
