(Just as an aside, I bet the feminists will find some way of objecting to this. I'm not sure how yet but I'm sure they can manage it)
Why the hell would we object? Something that prevents unwanted pregnancy is a good thing.
Because it shifts power away from women. Around half of all births in the US each year were unplanned pregnancies.
Pregnancy happens, and until now men have had nothing but condoms to control when this happens. Condoms fail, because of many reasons which aren't the point, but it happens. There's also a problem of reduced sensation leaving many dissatisfied.
Point is, that's their option... either that or get clipped, which isn't much of an option at all.
Then this comes along and the balance of power shifts. How many women that try to get men to stay in relationships by getting pregnant will lose their power because of this?
America has been suffering from baby daddy/mama drama for far too long and male contraceptive has the potential to tremendously upset this status quo. It will not be taken lightly.
I googled to see if there was a poll done as to how many women would seriously date a man they knew for a fact was sterile... didn't find anything... but I bet you around half, guess where i'm getting the idea for that estimate, will have serious issues with it.
Sorry if you don't see what I see, but I'm 28 years old from the metro Detroit area. I've watched an entire generation around here grow up and make babies of their own. I've known the circumstances behind how a number of children around here came into this world, and if you lived here, you'd be surprised any figures you find aren't worse.
At 28, people are surprised when I tell them I have no children... and they are more surprised the closer you are towards the hood. But this isn't just Detroit, this is a large percentage of the US that lives around or below poverty.
I don't think the lower middle class are fairing too much better either.
But anyhow, if male contraceptive that doesn't have huge drawbacks and is very easy and effective catches on, it will change this nation in a few generations, for the better, I honestly feel.
