The fact that he's most likely making all this up just to get a stir from Rosalina's salty fanbase is the best part, though.
I'm sure a Reddit thread is a perfectly legitimate source

I read the comments about this on another website and someone point this out.

so some jackass took a whole bunch of miniature figurines of a Nintendo character so no one else could have them.

All I can say to that is: HAH!

Wow, I have to respect someone with such an insane devotion to such a petty and futile cause. I hope he doesn't resell them and just sits on the whole lot, simply so others can't have them.

I think the man-child insult was uncalled for and doesn't reflect well on the OP. The guy is just passionate in his hate against the silly little Mario lady. I wish I had the passion and motivation of this man.

One thing that I don't understand though: what's an Amiibo? Do these figurines actually have much impact on the gameplay of Smash Bros. or are they just another pointless gimmick like the e-reader?

Amiibo are little collectible figures similar to Skylanders. People like them because:
-They're collectible figures of decent quality
-There are Amiibos of characters who wouldn't be made into figures otherwise
-They unlock little extra's on some games, but nothing that actually affects gameplay. For instance, you can get new skins for your planes in a Japanese Ace Combat game.
-In Smash you can kind of train them as if they were Pokémon. You raise them from n00b AIs to smart little asskickers and then pit them against eachother (or human players) in Smash matches. These Amiibo battles are refered to as Amiibo cockfights.

....Err...well i've heard of dumber ways to waste money. But not many. Also...isn't owning all those Amiibo's of a single character going to make it look like you really really like that character?

This makes no fucking sense to me...but then again I've never been able to get my head quite that far up my own ass.

Dunno if it's true or not if he did but that's really fucking sad.
I find it hard to believe if Nintendo is releasing so few figures that a mere $4000 can allow someone to take control of a substantial portion of the stock this way, this strikes me as being their fault. If this is even possible it means Nintendo is under producing the figures intentionally to create shortages, and encouraging this kind of a re-sell market/bitterness. People should be blaming Nintendo rather than giving this guy attention.

What's more if shortages really are a problem even before this, I'll say that people who keep buying figures when they can't get what they want are part of the problem as it just encourages this kind of marketing. Fans need to stick to a policy of "sell me what I want, or get nothing". Of course despite all common sense people fell for this with Skylanders so I imagine it's no huge surprise that they are doing the same here.

If I was he parents of that guy I would feel ashamed knowing my kid grew up to act like that. Honestly, I would disown him.

Being able to spend tons of money just to spite a lot of people is an indicator of economic success if ever there was one.
He should try to buy up a newspaper next to further his anti Rosalina agenda.

In related news, there have been unconfirmed reports of nintendo executives dying of laughter.

What a thourougly sad man. There are games I really don't like that other people do. I don't go out of my way to ruin their fun with those games. I don't feel like being the biggest asshole I can be is a valuable thing to strive after. The only good thing about this story is that it won't work. Nintendo can just keep making more amiibo's. If he buys them, they might as well sell them.

If anyone is insane (not to mention single-minded and petty) enough to actually do something like this, its mariotehplumber.

His review of one of the PS1's most iconic classics (Spyro 3) consisted of him screaming angry gibberish at the mike for four minutes while smashing the game disc and cover with a hammer because it didn't have Mario in it!
Oh good, I instantly found his review on Crash Bandicoot. I can't wait to hate him even more.

...Ah, you can clearly see his insanity as he 100%s Sonic Boom.

Huh, well thanks for explaining. They seem pretty useless. I watched one of those Amiibo battles on the Youtube and it seemed like you could pretty much get the same thing from an all cpu battle.

Its the principle behind it. I hate people like this. Always have always will. "Oh a limited edition PS4 with a paint job resembling the PS1 is going to be made? I'll buy two or three or maybe even just one and flip it for 1000s just because I want to be a dick." Yes, Its not "business" Its just flat being a dick at that point. You've destroyed at least one person's shot at owning something that they would actually use and cherish simply so you could make a quick short term buck, or in this particular case just to spite them. This kind of flipping culture in the game industry is not business, nor will it ever be. Its just people being dicks to be dicks with get rich quick schemes taken straight from Cartman.
Its sucks but that is exactly what business is. Its the dream of capitalism and economics. Take control of the supply of something that has high demand and you drive the price up. Profit.

I really wish Nintendo would just run a re-print on some of these damn Amiibos.
I've kind of jumped on the Ambiibo train. I've never really collected anything since my youth. It's kind of fun to be honest.

Except this is not business. This guy is not doing it for business reasons. He's more than likely burning them. Remember he doesn't want anyone to own them that's why he's doing this. No this isn't business or capitalism. This is just being a dick to be a dick.

If I was them I'd just keep pumping them out, fuck him.

If they are getting bought up by some clown blowing a mole hill into a mountain, then take advantage! He has $35 grand to spend on them? Let's see how committed he is to that!

$35 grand better in my pocket than his, plus you get to serve her actual fans, by making him broke so he cant buy any more.

Make more from him artificially inflating the market, when he sells they are worthless 'cos all her actual fans have her.

Just take advantage of some guys obsessive hatred.

Have you seen the shit this guy does? He smashed a copy of Spyro 3 saying it was shit because it didn't have Mario in it despite it ripping off of Mario 64. He regularly stalks and harrasses people on Twitter and Youtube telling them to kill themselves because their taste in games dosen't exactly match his (I.e. the very first Mario and Sonic games and nothing else). Calling him a man-child was being lenient.

*sighs in disbelief* If only his excuse was to say that Rosalina was his "waifu" or something like that...

Actually, scratch that... He shouldn't have done this unless his excuse was that he was handing them out at a charity event...

*goes back to sighing in disbelief* No wonder my friend hasn't picked up a Rosalina Amiibo yet...

Once they've gained some levels, they're actually a bit smarter than Lvl 9 CPU and their playstyles differ depending on how they were trained. There are actually 'how to train your Amiibo' guides out there. I doubt I'll ever understand the nuances of Amiibo training, but the fact it's a trainable AI is pretty neat.

Oh, it gets worse. WAY WORSE. His motives behind this Amiibo shitstorm he's causing is freaking illogical

He apparently hates some of the anime-esque art styles of some Nintendo games (Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Zelda, etc) and thinks that all people who likes those games are Hentai fetishists........ and that those who like Animal Crossing, modern Sonic and/or Pokemon are all furfags...... (ugh, just saying those words make me sick.....) That is why he's pulling this Amiibo stunt, just because he doesn't like the big N's current art/character design in it's games and by doing this "Boycott", he thinks it'll make Nintendo change their ways..... that and the whole "Fuck you" to fans of the figures he's buying up......

He's not just doing this Amiibo bullshit to Rosalina, he's doing to others Amiibo figures too, like Lucina, Shulk, Zero Suit Samus, and Lucario........
