Marilyn Monroe was a woman of many talents, and many achievements. She was a successful actress, she graced the very first cover of Playboy Magazine and she sang to President Kennedy on his birthday. And of course, she was seen as an amazingly beautiful woman. I wonder how people would look at her if she lived today. Would she still be considered the epitome of beauty? So I ask you, fellow male and female Escapists:

Do you consider Marilyn Monroe a beautiful woman?

Do I think she IS beautiful, no, because she's a collection of probably dissolved ashes.

Do I think she WAS beautiful, yeah, actually, she looked very pretty in an era before airbrushing and photoshop.

EDIT: Fixed

FUCK YEAH she's beautiful. Seriously, there are literally no hollywood starlets today who could hold a candle to someone like Marilyn Monroe - seriously, the women of hollywood back in Film's "Golden Age" were just WAY better looking than the ones today (Ingrid Bergman was another of my favourites); the one exception being Scarlett Johansson, but then again she always reminded me of Marilyn, anyway.

She was very attractive visually but much of her appeal didn't come from only her looks but also her lascivious voice and her behaviour.

This over and over again this, I mean, I've found various old magasines lying around and the women in them look as beautiful as they do today in magasines, but without the aid of photo shop, says a lot about companies confidence in their own beauty products!

By a long way I'd call Marilyn Monroe one of the most beautiful women to have walked the Earth.

If I'd had to pick any other than Marilyn, I'd go for Audrey Hepburn:

Hell yes. Classic beauty. Real beauty. Iconic beauty. There's a reason why her image continues to influence art and culture to this day.

Women we consider attractive now are forgotten in a matter of years, but Marilyn's appeal has lasted for generations, and will outlive all of us.

I never found her all that attractive. She's got this sleepy "come hither" face that honestly turns me off a woman. Now Audrey Hepburn, she was stunning.
Plus she pretty much invented the AWSM Smiley [http://www.takegreatpictures.com/content/images/Audrey_Hepburn_1965_2_.jpg]
(Although that picture really doesn't do her justice.)

Yes.

But most of the actresses from back then were actually beautiful, not just tarted up with a fuckton of makeup like a lot of the ones we have today.

She was pretty, but Audrey Hepburn and Betty Grable were better
To be honest I never heard of Betty Grable and I don't recognize her photos. Could you tell me a couple of things/movies she is most famous for?
