Hm, seems they're running out of people to go shoot children for fun. Occasionally doing something right. (Before critisizing, check internets.)
Wow. Nice job completely disrespecting and devaluing an entire group of people.

Also as a fun fact, 230,000 bullets are fired for every insurgent killed.
You ever fired a real gun? They're not pinpoint accurate, especially not on "rock-n-roll"
Stereotyping is stereotyping is stereotyping. I suppose you think all black people are drug addled gangbangers, all videogames are mindless toys, all gamers are worthless slobs, all women are inferior to men... the list goes on and on and on.
How does this have any bearing on what we were talking about? How am I in any way stereotyping? He's talking about how 230,000 rounds is a huge amount for a war. It's not. Guns are very hard to control when firing on fully automatic. Especially because our main service rifles, the M16A4 and the M4A1, are shooting around 10 rounds per second. If you do the calculations, that's about 383 hours of constant firing. Not too bad for a war we've been in for almost 10 years, especially when you consider the fact that they're also using M249's, which fire at about 12 rounds per second, and the fact that they're also training with live rounds (which they count as having been spent). All of that adds up.
Whole 'being shot at whilst trying to shoot back' probably adds a couple of thousand rounds to the equation as well. Also the not-so-strange (thankfully) phenomenon that humans don't generally want to kill other people, thus they intentionally (or subconciously) 'over' compensate for distance and movement.

None of this is really my forte ... but, for example, Japanese officers used to have to brutalize their own soldiers before many we're capable of shooting prisoners and the like. People talk about peer pressure, but it seems that even with peer pressure (with many of those peers having guns no less) that alot of people find it quite difficult to take another's life.

It's people like you that make me wish we still had a draft. :)
And on top of that, my brother just came back from Afghanistan... And there are things he wants to say that I can't post without getting the hammer from the Mods.
Thank your brother for me. The military gets far too demonized in society now.. I have no idea what it's like to defend the rights of people that don't even respect you, but I'm sure he does. I have a friend that's applying to Ranger school in a few months and I'm pretty worried about where he'll be sent.

I'm not against the Marines advertising here, it just seems kinda weird. A huge chunk of the users aren't even American. Seems like a poor choice of product placement imho, but whatever.
I'm not sure if this has been said in the 5 pages of replies, don't feel like checking, but the ads change depending on what country you're in.

Look at some of the articles, or watch the vid. Those were the real points.
Oh I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that you really shouldn't be surprised. I mean hell, weren't we at some godawful number like 1.2 tons of explosives and napalm for every VC killed? These numbers just aren't surprising. Real life isn't like CoD. Guns have recoil and you can't just snipe someone with any old gun. It takes lots and lots of marksman training to get something like 1 kill per 100 rounds.
Hey we are not that bad. Most of those rounds go towards suppressive fire, we are not trying to hit them so much as trying to make them stop shooting so we have more room to breath and maneuver.

I wouldn't join the military unless I had to, IE: About to be homeless. For a few reasons, I have no particular love for FPSs, I've been told the players in the Military are a lot like Black Ops Players, and possibly the most important reason; There are no Respawn points IRL.

Marines kill people. Killing people is bad. Advertising to help people kill people is bad.
If only the human race as a whole could evolve past their collective drive to attain power, we wouldn't need individuals to protect the 'good' from the 'bad'...

...Too bad that world doesn't exist.

If this was intentional targeting, I would agree with others in that it's simply by gender and age demographic. As far as personality goes, the Marines have very effective methods in training and teaching to promote a certain overarching way of thinking within it's ranks.
