So business as usual for the US Marine Corp? Many, not all, but many men who join the military do it because their raving sadists and bullies who want legitimate power. Same reason people join the police force. Them doing something like this does not surprise me.

I can't say that I care this happened. The Taliban guys are dead, so it's not like they're in any position to care about what happens to their corpses. On the same token, my reaction would be the same if it were the Taliban doing this to dead marines. Dead people really don't care about all that much, yanno?

The Taliban insurgents are townsfolk with AK-47s. People will look at them and think "Look at that bunch of peasants, pissing on dead soldiers." It's almost expected of them.

These are U.S. Marines. American kids cannot shut up to foreigners about the greatness of their Marine Corps. Professional soldiers, and representatives of a Western power. Is this how you want to demonstrate our power? We can't even keep our own troops within the bounds of decency and respect, so how do you expect the Middle East to have any kind of respect for us?

They oppress women, destroyed the remnants of babylonian culture, destroyed several buddhas (which were the worlds largest buddhas), use manipulation to convince teens and children to participate in suicide attacks, and torture anyone who isn't muslim. And you'd be just fine with them doing it? If this was anywhere but a forum I would have some stronger words for you.

Insubstantial claim alert. They already attack them daily it would be hard to attack them "more". Is this poor decision making on their part? Yes. Will their superiors be happy? No. Will they get disciplined? Oh HELL YES because that's how it works in the USMC. Those guys will pay dearly for their lack of sense.

Also...if you're REALLY concerned about the welfare of the coalition troops and the harm this video can cause them WHY ON EARTH would you send it to the news media? If there is ANY way to make sure that is spread across the entire world, putting it in the media's hands is the right way to go. Does the word hypocrisy mean anything to you?

Regardless of their funding they didn't stop being evil.(don't bring up semantics) And so because we see it coming it's no longer offensive? Because they aren't a nation it stopped being desecration? Because they're deplorable, actions such as this can be looked over, while we are required to be paragons of virtue?

There's nothing ILLEGALLY wrong about it, but it is a morally reprehensible act. I thought we were better than this.

As a whole we certainly are. You don't see this sort of thing as the norm.

I was deployed in Iraq twice, and Afghanistan once. I saw some petty looting, which is illegal but generally was ignored as long as nothing of real value was taken. There where quite a few attempts to take trophies back (weapons and the like) to the US, eventually leading to a policy of searching people returning.

Through these acts are at another level, and the rarity of them should be telling, hundreds of thousands of troops have been in the country, don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. Not saying you shouldn't get outraged, get in a moral tizzy, don't let them justify the actions. Just don't blame everyone.

I didn't say it was any better if they did it to us, what I'm saying is that if they do it to us, then it just makes them look worse. We ARE required to be the paragons of virtue.

Because no national leader sits behind his desk wondering how to impress the Taliban. America has a responsibility it has been shirking. The most well-funded military in the world and they even fancy themselves liberators, and yet their knights in shining armour can't help but desecrate the corpses of their defeated foes? That's not how you gain the trust of the people you're invading.

I suppose there is the issue of the soldiers being "Unprofessional" but if this makes them feel better and the only people complaining are not fighting, then I think people need to calm down a bit.

My reaction to this can best be described as an angry form of 'meh'. It takes a certain something; a thickening of the skin to be soldier. Living day to day with the real possibility that you, your friend, or just some schlub who wanted to 'do good for his country' can get that noggin' knocked right the hell of at any moment.

To them, the mission and the man next to you is the only thing that matters...oh, and the enemy. The enemy matters. I doubt it would occur to them or if they'd even care if there's retaliation. Taking AK fire because someone is pissed about this and taking AK fire because it's Tuesday probably matters little so far as they're concerned. Hell, General Patton pissed in the Rhine to mock the Germans, but no one -particularly soldiers- was that concerned with upsetting them.

On topic: Its war...things like this happen. They're American soldiers though, so they'll take a lot of heat for it. Probably not the smartest idea to film it. Its naive to think that this type of shit isn't perpetrated by soldiers from every country, though. Not saying its right, just saying its reality. Deal with it.

If there was ever an inflammatory statement this is it. You realize how thoroughly screened those in the armed forces are right? As well as the police force? Psychological tests, intelligence tests, aptitude tests, drug tests, rigid discipline for the slightest infraction or deviation from the norm. Do people slip through the cracks? Absolutely and it would be foolish to deny it. However to say "many" troops and cops are sadists and bullies who want legitimate power to hurt others is BUCKING FONKERS. For every ONE of these guys there are dozens of good soldiers/cops who hate these type of people because they give them all a bad name. Honestly you may as well say that all football coaches become coaches so they can use their power to bugger little boys. If that statement doesn't make sense to you, congratulations, you now understand how I feel about yours.

Well, yeah. I don't object to any of the comments but I'm amazed that the video has been posted and not removed. When I think that how relatively harmless pornographic content ISN'T allowed on this site, to think that a video of some guys flopping out their dicks and pissing on corpses is allowed is in my opinion the height of hypocrisy and it needs to be removed or I'm outta here. I know mods have a busy job, hence maybe it got overlooked so I'm giving them 24 hours.
