I really feel there is no charm or humor in the Mass Effect world.
Do you count unintentional humor? Because even though I'm pretty sure Bioware meant him to be intimidating, Harbinger is pretty hilario-DIRECT INTERVENTION IS NECESSARY.

I KNOW YOU FEEL THIS.

Actually, yes. This is what ME2 (and Street Fighter 4) specializes in. It's so remarkably serious that it can't help but feel a little bit silly. It's sort of like the Resident Evil franchise.

To be honest the i enjoyed it a bit but the thing that stoped me from loving it was the fact you cant mod your weapons anymore and you have ammo instead of a cool down time

If you've played it and personally didn't like it how can you expect anybody to change your opinion? Are you planning on smacking yourself upside the head until you forget your own feelings on the matter and then allowing them to be replaced by the general "meh" response you'll get from a large group of people?

If you don't like it then who cares if other people do. Everybody has their opinion. You've just read about a minute's worth of mine.

P.S. I really liked it. My opinion. Don't much care about anybody else's.

Arguing a subjective opinion is pointless. I loved the game, that doesn't mean you have to. Just enjoy what you enjoy.

I hate the gameplay.
I hate the femshep voice actor.
I hate the way it attempts to do something unspeakable to my computer every time I run it.

But

I love Garrus.
Funny, I despise the mshep actor myself, he sounds like such the atypical mindless drone of a military character, femshep can be hot, and sounds good I think (we're probably both cursed with selecting one sex, then thinking 'yep, thats shepard', and when we later selected the alternative disliked them as a result).

Gameplay is a bit reduced from ME1, but mechanics were marginally improved in areas, eg. Q and E to move people is more efficient then 'pause' click and click, however, now E isn't used as well, use anymore. Swings and roundabouts...

Anyway, OT, it is still a great game, it holds a candle to the original, but its a pretty massive candle at that. And I think it deserves it, I can't think of any game remotely similar to ME1 or ME2, barring KOTOR/2, and they were both Star Wars games, this is something original.

For one: I'm not going to convince the OP of squat, but then no one has convinced me the Stones are the greatest Rawkband ever, Citizen Kane the greatest movie ever made celluloid, War & Peace the best... you get the drift.

I love it because as has been mentioned elsewhere it hits the sweet spot between an rpg and a shooter which suits me fine. Fun as games like Gears are, their stories aren't overly involving and I don't buy in. On the flipside, rpg's with intense customisation, stats, etc often (though not always) lose me in the detail. It's an action movie with character and an adjustable storyline, albeit with more fixed elements than it's marketers care to admit.

Greatest? Don't care, but I have had a shitload of fun with it so far

I enjoyed every minute of it. Great pacing, great storyline, great voice acting. They make an effort to spice up the different missions so no two seem quite the same.

This is one of the few games I'm actually considering purchasing DLC for (something I *rarely* do for any game, no matter how good)
ah like that mission where I fought those mechs., and the other mission where I fought the same mechs again...
Thats all ou fight for most of the game. Its dull and repetative. All of it happens in environments with conveniently placd chest high walls.
That mission with the pockets of toxic gas that limited your mobility, that mission where the visibility decreased the longer you take, the mission where you couldn't stay in the sun and had to fight in the shade, that mission where you have to alternate between shooting a primary goal and keeping melee mooks off your back. That mission where you have to play tower defense against mooks streaming up two different lanes.

Without dipping into the realm of puzzle battles too much, I think they had a healthy variety in the missions by throwing a curveball into the mix. If you find yourself facerolling every encounter, perhaps a higher difficulty would be in order for you.
