I hope this comes out in the PS3 the same date it comes out in the 360 and PC. I want to play ME 2. As for the character trailers, I agree. It is kind of a spoiler by revealing them already before you can ever play the game.
Not a chance. It's a Xbox 360 console exclusive.

Huh. I didn't think we could get an Asari that was more dull than Liara, but look at that.

Though I guess it is unfair to judge a character based on a one minute teaser. Still, the intention of this teaser was to get me interested in the character, and it failed to do so. But maybe that's just my personal bias. I really hate characters that are in slave-master relationships. To be honest, I'd prefer it if her outfit was a bit more dignified.

Also, where the hell is my Hanar party member? I want to solve my problems using diplomacy!

Agreed, this one demands a Hanar Party Member!

Also, where is my sarcastic bastard party member!? I NEED a sarcastic bastard, I can't do it all myself!

The trailers have been action packed but they have not shown much depth. But I read an interview where one of the lead guys at Bioware said his two favorite characters were Subject Zero and Grunt. His explanation was that Subject Zero has a very interesting story and actually shows some vulnerability when you have a few conversations with her. Grunt has a youthful enthusiasm about fighting and killing mostly because he is a young Krogan. If I had to bet on Grunt's character development I would have to guess that over time he will mature over the course of the game but still enjoy fighting, kind of like Wrex.

There are also 5 possible teammates left.

OT: Samara has some sort of code and some event happens that makes her serve Sheperd. I have no idea what is going to happen with, Bioware can do almost anything with this sort of set-up and it should be interesting. Im imagining paragon dialogue going something like the light side dialogue with Visas in KOTOR 2, except with more depth.

If any company besides Bioware was doing this I would be concerned about the direction of the game, but I think it will be good.

There are 5 more characters left - lets hope they are the old members. Tali was once under one of those black spaces, so lets hope the other five are Garrus, Wrex (or his replacement), Liara, Kaiden and Ashley (or their replacements).

Is it just me, or are all of the new squadmates "ruthless who do anything to get the job done"

Your team in the first game had so much personality, all of the characters. And everyone here, except Tali, just seems dull.

Tali - Quarian Engineer who has apperantly been exiled from her people and now is traveling with Sheperd to try and make things right with her people. (At least thats what I think is happening, based on her intro video)

Now lets look at the new companions:

Grunt - ruthless Krogan who stops at nothing to get the job done
Subject Zero - ruthless human biotic who stops at nothing to get the job done
Thane - ruthless assassin who stops at nothing to get the job done
Samara - ruthless asari biotic who stops at nothing to get the job done.

Seriously, how about a little variaty.
You've seen 1 minute trailers of each character, how are you managing to compare exactly?
Alright, so I guess I can't compare the ME2 characters with Tali, or any of the other ME1 characters, since we've seen, and interacted with them all.

But all the ME2 character's trailers show basically the same type of person, a ruthless being who stops at nothing to get the job done.

Its just kind of depressing seeing all these trailers and making it look like all my teamates will be meatheads who do nothing but kill.
I suppose then the challenge for Bioware will be to develop the characters beyond "meatheads who do nothing but kill" via backstory, interaction with The Shep and plot development. I'm actually curious to see if they can manage it.

Am i the only one here who is starting to find it annoying how Bio-ware is spoiling like half of the game by telling us something about all of the characters in advance?
/agrees.
I hadn't been reading anything or watching any trailers on purpose. I gave in to this thread for some reason, and I wish I hadn't.

Unless I'm mistaken, there was also a trailer released featuring a Salarian scientist/doctor who was supposedly also meant to be a party member. So if we add him and the two humans who I forget the names off to the roster present at the start of this video then we're left with two free slots for some remaining party members to join.

With three humans alreeady accounted for, it seems (quite) likely that the remaining two will also be alien. Even though they aren't the most friendly of sorts, it would be interesting to see a Batarian in the party as well. Given that Shepard is mostly recruiting a tougher group this time around, a Batarian may be a snug fit with some of the others in the team.

Edit: Some confusion with that trailer. Upon hitting the pause button around the 0:43 mark, it appears the other Asari is moving in on the downed Samara and reaching for her next. In the very next shot however, it appears to be Samara who is "on top" (sorry, could resist), recognisable by her red uniform. A continuity error, or something more sinister?

I guess they interpreted the positive fan response to Renegade Shepard and Wrex to mean that people only like ruthless bastards. I guess what the devs (or meddling executives) missed is that it's only fun when you're being a dick. If you're making the renegade/jerk choices in a world full of renegades/jerks, it loses all its punch and stops being fun.

Then again, I preferred the Paragon playthrough, so I guess I'm always going to be a little biased against ruthless characters who stop at nothing to get the job done because I can't bloody use them!

On an unrelated note, Liara annoyed the crap out of me so it isn't going to take much for me to like Samara more than her, unless of course Liara actually grew a personality in the two years between games (and, considering what she's supposed to have been doing in said time, I would be bloody amazed if they managed to keep her bland and boring in spite of all that.) Still, I don't like to judge characters out of context, so I'll have to wait and see.
