Why should I get mad if a PS3 owner gets to play Mass Effect? Mass Effect is awesome and if my PS3 buddies get to play it, awesome. Then we can talk about what choices they made, and which they didn't.
I know what it is like when a game is never ported to my platform and it sucks. I look at SW:TOR and sigh because it won't be Mac compatible. I look at Heavy Rain and I'm sad that it looks like it is never coming to the Xbox. It would be great for those games to be available to me. So, conversely, I think it is great that Mass Effect is now available to you PS3 owners.
I do understand why games created by Sony are exclusive to the PS3, Microsoft created games are exclusive to the XBox, and Nintendo created games are exclusive to the Wii. I don't begrudge console companies for crafting a game for their own console. But I'd love it if third party creators created for everybody. Now I do understand that porting might be difficult, and some systems may not be able to handle the technologies of some other system...and it that's the case? No hard feelings. If you are small company and you can't afford to do both PS3 and Xbox? Okay. If you created a game that works on PS3 and Xbox hardware, but the Wii hardware can't handle it? That's fine, too. If you make me wait 2 years for a port? That's fine, too.
But holding something exclusive only to further console wars I'm less excited about. All three companies are making money. There is room for all the consoles in the market. Indeed, it would be a sad thing, and bad for the consumer were there only one console on the market.
