In all seriousness though, I only remember them saying that your actions would carry on into the next game. But maybe not you.

If not, then it's probably as people have said before, a cover-up or something of that nature. Doesn't really feel like a stretch, Shepard being a spectre and all.

I heard a rumor that the game begins whit Shepard Stranded in enemy territory. Cmon, they wont kill Shepard, it'll have been an administrative f*ck up...or someting.

My theroy is that Shepard (and mabe the entire gang) faked their own deaths because the government were just pissing away resorces to try and figure out what their next move would be (not to far of a strech considering it took and entire fucking attack on the cintidel by geth to show them the threat was real). Now Shepard and gang are semi-rouge and trying to be incognito while stoping the threat.

Also I bet that they will let you play as a super powerd Shepard in the begining, but then when you go incognito/rouge you get some alteration surgery and then start out as a fresh faced youngster again.

Furthermore, I belive that the whole data transfer thing has less to do with keeping you awsome charter and more with "what ethical desisions did your awsome charater make" So most likly, the data transfer is more for story sake than for gameplay sake, although that would still be really cool that your desicions carry over instead of what they did in KOTOR 2 where whatever conversation you have with Atton in prison determines if Reven was good or bad.

One thing I just realized is: One of the only reasons I can think of for them to actually have killed off Shepard is if they got problems with the voice actors or something. Maybe not available or didn't want the part or w/e.
So instead of fucking up by having the wrong voices ('cause, I know that would ruin the game for me) they kill off Shepard and let us play as another character.

If he's dead, then the humans need a new spectre, so either you start a new character has probably...Shepard's kid maybe?...and do more crap to become a spectre too(Might be a bit boring since you did all that in the 1st game) OR Shepard is alive and you gotta escape the Geth and get back to your team and report to the Citadel? Or some crap like that. Either way, it's gonna be awesome!

And that was literally all I was referencing to. I already had enough of trying to explain sarcasm to Youtube commenters, I'd rather not do it here too where it seems much more intelligent. >_<

I should also point out at this point that all comments regarding the 'uberness' of most player's characters at the start will likely be balanced with the way enemies get more powerful as you do. Although true, I did have an assault rifle which took over a thousand shots to overheat or something stupid. I know it was several minutes of constant shooting.

Maybe you play as Shepered's Boy/Girl offspring he had with Ashley or the Asari chick. Of course the outcome depends on your previous choice in ME1.

Well it certainly intrgues me. Not sure ill be happy if it Shepard is a geth though. But it might just be something to throw us off.

I sure hope it's not another release of Knights of the Old Republic, seriously BioWare has been re-skinning and re-releasing the same freaking game since the mid nineties, I'm playing Jade Empire right now and I am a little bit amazed that even set in a traditional Chinese environment it is just the same game.

Story is fine, but the writing is hit and miss and always favors playing the good side. Being massive is fine, but mass Effect offered desert wastelands, frozen wastelands, windy wastelands, charred wastelands, and forest-less prairies. The cities were too tiny to be really open world, and the graphics were not up to snuff for a game that had a four year development cycle. And then it is the same Never Winter story tree good / evil mechanic with pretty standard 3D shooter / magic events. BioWare gets more credit than it rightly deserves.

Good marketing with the fanboy D&D / Lucas treasure troves I guess. The rest of us can only ever dream of doing so well with such an un-inovative path.

Mass-Effect 2, looks good in the trailer, I wonder if that is the quality of in game graphics we are getting a look at? I also wonder if, by the time the game does released it will hold up so well against its peers (seriously, compare Mass-Effect to its contemporaries, you can tell the standards were set two or three years before the release.)

Oh well, I'm really just Mass Effect / BioWare bashing right now.

My guess is that Shepard must have gotten shot down, injuried, etc and is assumed dead when really he's alive and the story may have something to do with him find his way back to whoever runs galaxy or w/e or maybe he's really dead in that case it kinda sucks.
