Believe me this is nothing compared to final fantasy, some of their games are more than 3 discs long o_o
you mean like, FOUR discs long!

EDIT: Seriously though, no final fantasy game had four discs, Square Enix made Lost Odyssey, and that did have 4 discs (I really don't see why it needed more than 2 though) but saying "Some of their games are more than 3 discs long" is wrong in two ways, the company is Square Enix not final fantasy, and none of them were over 3 discs
Bzzt. Both Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX came on four discs.
Those were CD's though right?
Well, yes, but if we're arguing over DVDs, then no FF game has come on more than one yet as far as I know. Might have to double check on FFXI but I've never actually played it.

Either way, they just specified 'disc' which can be anything from the age old CD to the super high tech double blue fancy shmancy cancer curing Blu-Ray.

As long as the game is good all I can really say is, "SWEET mass effect 2 is coming!" I just hope that that they didn't sacrifice too much making it this big. It looks as if I will have to wait for more info on game play, where is Yahtzee when you need him?

I just want the same feel as ME 1 but with more fun stuff...like HK47. and I agree that quantity is not better than quality, I just want a nice balance.

PC games have been over 7-10 GB for a long time. Hell, even my Neverwinter Nights folder without mods weights almost 6GB.

Well, the first one was nearly 7 gigs, according to games on demand (6.83 gigs, to be precise), but two discs is still mind-blowing.

Mass Effect 2 [http://meforums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=711031&forum=144&sp=30] comes out on January 26, 2010.
Yeesh, that is going to be released on the eve of my birthday.

Still not convinced though about giving "Mass Effect 2" a try here. The first one seemed like it was trying to be two games in one and not appealing to either taste to me (RPGs and FPS). In some ways I thought the opening of the first one was just as slow as "Star Ocean" on the PS 2.

Part of me is thrilled. This rest of me is freaking out over how I won't have enough hours in the day to play Mass Effect 2 and eat enough to survive.

Hmm...maybe if I stock-up in advance...
Real gamers store a layer of fat so when games are in season, you can survive on stored calories. Also, save up sick leave.

I have yet to finish ME 1 or preorder 2, two things I want to do before the end of December
Hey, it's not my fault! I already used mine up playing Dragon Age! You definitly want to finish ME1.

As awesome and exciting as this is, I feel the need to share something kind of strange relating to this. A couple years ago, I drew up this emblem that I have used as a personal insignia wherever I have the chance. Now I look at this picture from the news story and see a striking resemblance in the orange symbols shown.

Now, I have reason to believe that people will think that I modified this picture from Mass Effect into my own. But, I have a believable, possibly crazy, theory. I live in northern Alberta, a good four-hour drive from Edmonton (where BioWare's headquarters is). I think it is no small coincidence that we have simlar pictures such a small distance apart. So I say to you, BioWare is trying to steal from me. I don't know how they did it, but they managed to steal my idea and change it enough so that nobody will ever believe me.
The little orange things near the middle
[sup]As crazy as that sounded, this is 100% true. I invented this thing about 3 years ago.[/sup]

"Because you cannot fit so many cutscenes on one disc".
There. Fixed it for him.

Sorry for being cynic and/or pessimistic. Just my little biased opinion, nothing too important.

Well it was 6 gb after it was uncompressed from installation. It's not like the disc was dual-layer. Unless of course you are referring to the second Neverwinter Nights.

"Because you can't fit this much awesome on one disc."

-I'm flashing back to Daikatana on that hubris-filled quote. Anyone else remember "John Romero will make you his tch."?

That said, I guess I need to preorder the CE...
