Because EA has repeated time and time again on how they aim their big action franchises to 'rope' in the COD market?
No, I was more thinking along the lines of how Mass Effect 2 was "tweaked," but that certainly explains a lot.

People write books because they have a story to tell. People make games because there is an adventure to be had. NOT because it stuffs money in their coffers. I pray with all my life that Mass Effect 3 will be as great as it should be but even I am beginning to have doubts.

Elitist? HAHAHAHA. If you don't like a movie you do not change it. You find one that you do like and watch that instead. Why should mass effect appeal to a larger audience? So the decisions are even less involving and mentally stimulating?

If this is true then you have killed my optimism, good sir.

in the words of professor fink from the simpsons (regarding a childrens toy)

Little gril: "can I play with it?"

Fink:"what? no no you wont enjoy it on as many levels as I do..."

to be fair how ever the "dumbification argument" I dont really know...it has both good and bad points

in this case how ever we should really just chill and see how ME3 turns out, I loved ME2

They can do whatever they want to the combat. Just don't fuck with the story or the character interaction. I like lots of dialogue, it's what makes Mass Effect a space opera and not an action movie in space. I'd rather have a lot more character interaction in the ME3.

What i'm most worried about is that the love intrests from the second, or first game, are going to be treated like the love intrests from the first game in the second game. Where they were basically put on a bus for flimsy reasons. They don't need to be active squadmates, but at least let them stay on the ship and continue to interact with Shepard.

I dont see how thats possible with ME....they are COMPLETLEY different styles of game

now if we were talking about ANOTHER game like after the trilogy that would make more sense (weather you find that good or bad)

Well, you just have to look at their rhetoric behind BF3.

"Aimed to divert and appeal to the COD audience."

Normally, I would agree with you. However, Casey Hudson has said that ME3 will invariably be compared to the top shooters on the market, such as COD and GOW and the way in which they deliver action to the player.

I'm not in a fuss, though. Given all the information that has come out, I think Bioware are improving all aspects of the game, and that includes more depth with the RPG features. In fact, Bioware have directly acknowledged the demand for more RPG and have stated that they will expand them. I loved both ME2 and ME1; all signs point to Bioware knowing exactly what they're doing with ME3.

I personally hope they remove all the dialog. Its why I stopped playing the first one.
That sounds to me like "Who's that trip-trapping over my bridge?" but, ok, I'll bite. It's a Bioware game, that'll never happen. Bioware are all about the dialogue, it's the best and largest part of any of their games. If you don't like dialogue, best not to bother with any Bioware games, ever.

I am apprehensive about this announcement, "appeal to a larger market" always means "Let's make it more like whatever mindless shooter is selling best at the moment in the hopes it'll make more money."
This is make-or-break for Bioware IMO. If ME3 is just more Gears of Mass Effect, that'll probably be the last Bioware game I ever buy.

This is a sign that the development costs as of writing were getting too large for the projected sales figures so they're probably making it easier than shit or adding some other aspects which will just be bullshit.

Not sure if that's sarcastic or not, could you please include air quotations in the future? Thank you. :D

If you are serious... If other people enjoying the game runs counter to me enjoying the game then no, I don't want more people to enjoy the game.

edit: Just saw your post.

Ugh.

EA, please shut your collective mouths. You're not helping.

Hell, I personally approve of the 'actionization' of Mass Effect and RPGs in general. The immediacy of actual gameplay beats number-crunching any day. But statements like that still make me apprehensive.

I was joking. This is the exact same argument people use as their last resort when a PC title that goes multiplatform gets blasted I thought 'guys' would be enough of an indicator I was being sarcastic, but alas, text is text.
The sarcasm wasn't lost on me.

oh well that actually makes alot of sense

and I cant say how refreshing it is to hear an actual calm and rational veiw on the issue rather than

"OMG!!! not DA 2 again!!!" ahhhhhh RAGE!!!! its the end of the world ME3 is gonna suck!!

personaly I think unless you hated ME2 theres really nothing to get your underwaer in a twist over

I mean I guess putting a bioware game and COD in the same sentence here is going to cause all kinds of rage

Well at least Skyrim looks like it hasn't been butchered...

Too much....

Why no more Mysticism and classes Bethesda? :(

OT: I suppose Arrival should have been our warning about Mass Effect 3 possibly dropping in quality...
