We should just pay attention to ME3 having 26 overwhelmingly positive critic reviews (so far).
Yeah, because game journalism is a shining beacon of critical integrity.
I'd trust them over the user reviews any day.

When compaired to a review bomb from 4chan? Yeah, that is not saying much though.

I, on the other hand, trust neither. At least not for games like this that accentuate the weaknesses of both of Metacritic's scales.

Popularity creates controversy. I can understand that. But I thought the point of reviewing is to actually talk about the game. "If you are supporting this game, you are supporting the cancer that's slowly degenerates and kills the industry." does not help anyone in any way as it does not even mention the game. Short, blurb reviews for any media (video games, music, movies) are typically shit anyway due to their lack of content.

I challenge you to find a big name release in the past year or so that this didn't happen to in some for or another. I honestly can't understand why people care either way tbh.

Meh, I was going to get ME3 whatever. I can't not get it, having been a fan since I got ME1 in 2008.

In a month or so we will see real reviews from people who actually played the game. It's a shame with the review bombing though, because any criticism will be stamped as a scheme by 4chan.

The game is pretty bad actually.
I remember when Bioware said that multiplayer doesn't mean single player will take a hit. Don't believe it. God damn this game is boring. And ugly. The animations are atrocious. You can actually see where they've cut out the animations. It's that obvious. For example when you select ammo power, when Shepard tweaks the gun the animation is cut so that his hand goes straight to the grip, without any animation. Similar with reloading. And Shepard's face when he's reloading is hilariously retarded. The entire game is stiff and doesn't feel fluid as ME2. Walking animations are stiff as well. ME1 had better walking animations. The textures are horrible, the Normandy is butchered, there is no Kelly and other crew members from ME2 that made your time on the Normandy fun and immersing. Everyone aboard the Normandy may as well be a fuckin' husk. That's how interesting they are. Then there are gun sounds. They are incredibly boring and just plain fuckin' stupid. And Jessica Chobot's character is hideous and annoying. Not to mention her gloriously stupid voice acting. What the hell were they thinking?! Mass Effect 3 isn't just one step behind Mass Effect 2, it's a whole light year behind. And it's buggy as hell too. And then there is one sequence after the first two missions that really insulted my intelligence. Not really a story spoiler, but I'll put it into tags anyway:
a fuckin' nightmare sequence designed to invoke some kind of emotional response. But it's so cheap and retarded, I couldn't help but laugh.

This is just my first impression though. Maybe my opinion will change after I have played some more. But I just don't feel the need to play it. I actually want to reinstall ME2 instead.

And another thing about gameplay. Remember how in ME2 'SPACE' button did multiple things? It wasn't such a big dead then because you only had cover system and using space to activate stuff. But now you can't freakin' control it. It does way more than it should and there is no justification for that on PC. Not one! PC has the entire keyboard at it's disposal. Key bindings should have been handled like a true PC game because if you play at the highest difficulty you will die more than you should. Instead of going into cover Shepards just roles around into enemy fire 6/10 times. And if you play on lower than veteran the game is too easy.

Now I'm not going to say you're wrong or anything, but I could've sworn that in various threads you mentioned that you weren't going to get it because of Origin and EA. Or was that somebody else?

OT: Yeah, any game getting various overwhelming negative or positive reviews on launch day when I'm pretty sure it'll take more than a day (for the average person) to finish is one I'll judge by myself.

Lets put it this way, I have a nasty habit of not liking a new game right off the bat if I am not familiar with how its works and feels. I did not have this problem when I started playing ME3, but that isn't to say plenty of things have nagged and bothered me. Adam has some fair points but at the end of the day I think those with tempered expectations will cash out and it will recieve a generally good response. It's not DA2, but it isn't a masterpiece either (at least not so far).

Does this really actually matter?
This game is a third game in a series, if you're thinking about buying it you should know if you like the general idea of the game or not.
The score it has on metacritic isn't going to change your mind.

And if you're on the fence, you're probably going to read some reviews in detail instead of just looking at the number.

This is pointless and pathetic.
The problem is that they're posting fake reviews along with lowering the score. I don't know why they think this would work so early. The game is at least 20+ hours long without side quests, and anyone who isn't an idiot won't believe any user reviews, bad or good, for several days.

Didn't this also happen with Portal 2?
This happens pretty regularly in general, pretty much anytime the pretentious twats over in /v/ feel something isn't up to their standards.

Usually I know if a game is crap or not. I know going into ME3 that it's going to be at LEAST an ok game. Seeing reviews giving it 1's and 2's, it's obvious that the person giving the score or review is butt hurt about something waaay more than they should be.
