I wondered that too. You don't see them wearing anything. They're just shiny pink things, completely nekkid.Reishadowen said:Although if GodsandFishes is correct, where do they store such levitation jetpacks? o.0
Why does virtually everyone in the universe speak English?Zhukov said:I'm pretty sure that's the answer to any question in the Mass Effect universe.
How do the mass relays work?
Mass effect fields!
How do ships still have gravity while in space?
Mass effect fields!
How does Jack deflect bullets with her bare chest?
Mass effect fields!
Actually Jack and other Biotics (note that only they don't have armors on them) have Biotic fields that works just as combined armor+generated shield. Everyone seems to forget about it and make jokes about what makes Miranda's spandex bulletproof.Zhukov said:I'm pretty sure that's the answer to any question in the Mass Effect universe.

Oh well. Nobody ever said it was intended to be "hard" science fiction.
It's explained in BDtS, all races use translators.plugav said:Why does virtually everyone in the universe speak English?Zhukov said:I'm pretty sure that's the answer to any question in the Mass Effect universe.

I think it's just a fancy phrase for "willing suspension of disbelief."
How is that supposed to work?GodsAndFishes said:Quoted from the Mass Effect Wiki:

Actually, I think they have some sort of auto-translate device.plugav said:Why does virtually everyone in the universe speak English?Zhukov said:How do the mass relays work?

Dial their own mass down low enough that they can support themselves with those tentacle things?Roxor said:Even if you dial the mass down to an astronomically small fraction of the object's normal mass, it's not going to counteract gravity. You'd still need something to provide enough force to oppose gravity to keep something hovering in the air.
Ya, I know. Biotics create mass effect fields with the element zero nodes in their nervous system. So, like I said, Jack defelects bullets with mass effects fields.theriddlen said:Actually Jack and other Biotics (note that only they don't have armors on them) have Biotic fields that works just as combined armor+generated shield. What if they lower their mass to be lighter than the atmosphere? Would they float if they did that?Zhukov said:Actually, I think they have some sort of auto-translate device.plugav said:Why does virtually everyone in the universe speak English?Zhukov said:How do the mass relays work?

Female Shepard mentions it when talking to Thane in ME2. "I think my translator glitched for a moment there, what did you just call me?"

I dunno. One suspects that the folks at Bioware aren't exactly physicists.
It's not super-hard SF, but except for the twin central conceits of the mass effect and eezo, they do a decent job keeping it as hard as possible.Zhukov said:I'm pretty sure that's the answer to any question in the Mass Effect universe.

You don't want an answer to that question really. Because you're right, you don't see them wearing anything...Cowabungaa said:I wondered that too. You don't see them wearing anything.
