"I guess we all need to be prepared---" Dray turned to Santius when he heard him comment on the food. "Check the fridge. The red plates are the one's for you and Xandus to eat. Don't eat the blue ones, they're for the rest of us. Oh, and sorry about the lack of food for you and Mayli, Sal. I'm still trying to get a hang of Quarian cuisine. Bought a couple Quarian cook books though, and have been reading them while we've been flying around. Hard to find the ingredients though on Omega for you. Wait! That reminds me!"

Dray got up and ran into the barracks room he stayed in. After a few seconds he came running back into the common room holding a couple books. He handed them over to Sal. They were Quarian cook books.

"Give them back to me when you've read through them. Highlight anything you like in there, and I'll try making it later."

Mayli looked up from the workshop table that had a LOKI Mech laid out on it. She had been rewiring part of it, and replacing a couple parts from it when Moloa had her target practice on the cans. She didn't mind that, but the sound of the crate falling onto the floor snapped her out of her work.

"You mind not making a mess in here? Half the time if people make it here, I wind up cleaning it up because no one else bothers keeping anything up to shape around here."

Moloa sighed. "Yes, my mistress, as you wish," she said, her voice semi-subtly laden with sarcasm as she picked up the discarded crate lid and replaced it on the proper crate.

(Response to tellmeimaninja/ "Santius")

Vek sat on his mat on the common room floor, continuing his focused meditation in the lotus position. Effective work protocal required combative readiness, which inturn required mental focus. To remain unfocused was therefore to be weak, and in turn, dishonorable.

He smirked at Santius. His remark, sarcasm with a hint of boredom. This meant he was focused on his occupation's level of recreational and/or entertainment stimuli. This meant he was not focused.

"You seem expectant that there needs to be, Turian. An univentfull mission is easiest to complete with a desireable outcome."

Vek paused, openning his eyes as he adjusted from lecturing to questioning.

"I am curious: what makes you think this will be anything more than simple?"

"Sorry Princess, is it really that hard to clean up after yourself? Here, want me to get you a warm cup of milk or tuck you in tonight?" Mayli said, sounding quite annoyed.

Sal nodded at Dray, she had never been much of a cook her self. The one time she did cook her father was down for almost a month. Who knew a simple protein paste would be so hard to make. she thought to her self as she smiled behind her mask. "Will do, most of it is pretty easy to prepare, just make sure it's a liquid or a paste." She said as she opened one and began flipping through it.

He had been up before the others as he always was. A hard life taught one to sleep lightly and rise early. Marcus sat in corner, eyes closed and back against the wall barely acknowledging his comrades in arms. Fifteen hundred credits for guard duty, on the surface easy pay for an easy job. But then again things are never as easy as they seem and he had learned it the hard way.

Some of the kids in the group were young and he hoped that when things eventually hit the fan as he knew they would these people would be ready to watch his back. What really struck him though was Verahl. The batarian seemed competent enough but, Marcus hoped his attitude hid a calculated mind that analyzed the scenarios ahead.

With a sigh Marcus arose and marched to the bossman's office to get a better handle on the Op.

(To Verahl)
"No offense boss but things are never as easy as they seem. We got any recon on the little bastard or more importantly if he has his hands in anything that may bite us in the ass. Really who pays that much for a mercenary group, even ours, to guard them unless they are expecting trouble."

Dray nodded several times more then needed in response to Sal. What he loved about cooking was the reaction he got when he did it well. The smile they might get, or that tilt of the head the person had when they tasted and enjoyed it. It made him feel that his actions were important. He always felt more proud and happy when someone was satisfied with his cooking, then he was when he delivered his transport. No matter how much the customer thanked for the early arrival or tipped, it all meant nothing compared to the smile and the happiness to the people he thought of as his friends.

"Fantastic! Me and Mayli should be leaving for Illium tomorrow. She hates staying longer then needed on deliveries, but I'm sure I'll be able to convince her to stay a while so I can do some grocery shopping for the both of you."

Alright, this has confused the hell out of me and Patrick. Firstly, where is your character? You haven't really established where he is and as such, it's caused a bit of confusion. Second, I think you have the characters confused. Vek (New York Patric) is not the boss, and he is saying to Santius that he should concentrate more on the mission. So if you're reffering to Vek, well, it doesn't make sense. However, from what I can gather about your location, you'd most likely be in the common room. If you're talking to the boss, who is Verahl (Me), he's currently sitting in his office, talking with a client over the company's next contract.

My advice: please add a little more meat to the post. Add in some details on what exactly you're doing and where you are. The more you add about your characters opinions and actions, the more depth and developement occurs, which is what we want. Also, if you're confused about what a character is doing, or where they are located, simply ask for a bit of clarification, and people will be more then happy to help.

Oh, and add quotations to dialogue, makes it much easier to comprehend.

Fine, just take what I said into account for later, ok please?

Also, do you know what OoC is? It means Out of Character. It's for stuff non-game related such as this, please use it for comments like this. If you quote this, you should see the quote box before I start writing that say (quote=OoC) in square brackets. Use that to indicate it please.

Sal frowned a little as she flipped through the pages of the cookbooks. She shook her head "I'm sorry Dray most of the ingredients are can only be found aboard the Liveships in the Flotilla." She said setting down the book. "But, if you can purify some of the food you cook for Santius and Xandus, we could eat that, but that's about it aside from the paste I have."

Sindri had been sitting apathetically in the common-room up until now, listening to the others, but otherwise being completely still. He figured he kinda melted in with the furniture, but he liked the privacy. He finally got up from his seat, and walked up to the refrigerator. He nervously checked over his shoulders that no one was watching him, before grabbing some food off a blue plate.

He laughed quietly over his own nervousness from taking the food. An old habit, he supposed. He went back to his room. He wouldn't be able to sleep with the mission this close, not that he would want to sleep with those nightmares... He wanted to break something.

Dray sighed, feeling almost devestated by this.

"But-What about--- Are you sure? I mean, I would have been certain Illium of all places would at least serve something. I the place is so massive and..." he stammered before eventually letting out a long drawn out sigh. He felt awful for getting her hopes up for nothing. "I'll look up how to purify Turian cuisine. I'm sorry, it'll be nothing like the two of you were probably used to back on the Flotilla. You can keep the books if you want, I don't think I'll have much use for them now..."

He slumped down into a couch in the common room nearby, and started looking through his Omni-Tool for anything that might be able to tell him how to purify Turian cuisine.

"Hmm. Well I may have some trouble but I mya be able to send some stuff back from the Flotilla once I get back. I'm not promising anything but I might be able to." She offered to the disapointed Salarian.

"If it's a trouble for you, then it's the opposite of what I've been trying to do. Besides, maybe the Turian cuisine will give you a new experience, something you'd have never done on the Flotilla right?" he said, trying to reassure himself as much as he was her.

Alright, since the base has gotten stale, and I feel everyone's had a due chance to have their actions, let's move on. And sorry for the wall of text.
The company prepared for the evening's job. Each member doing whatever ritual they saw fit to ready themselves. The two hour time limit past, and the company assembled in the common room, waiting for Verahl.

Verahl soon walked down the stairs, he was looking rather stressed, and a bit offset, but quickly recapped the night's contract.

"Now if there are no other questions, I'd like to have a moment to address one thing. A lot of you seem to be on edge about this. You're feeling that we're in for more then a simple assignment tonight. Let me reassure you that this has nothing more to then what meets the eye. You guys show up, and if anyone you encounter there tries to break into the place, you put them down. Understood?"

Most of the company responded with some form of a 'Yes'.

"Alright, take the Gauntlet out there and get to work. This shift will last for the next six hours."

With that, Verahl went back to his office and the company to the parking lot. There they boarded onto the transport they had waiting there. The transport was a refitted light cargo transport, used for moving goods locally. It had two large engines underneath it's wings that could rotate to provide a vertical take off and landing. The transport had a dark grey colour to it, with the company emblem painted on it's left side, and the word 'Gauntlet' in orange on the other. Where before there would be an empty cargo bay, it had been renovated. It now had benches lining the outer walls, with containers in the centre for weapons to be held. By now, most people, except the more recently recruited, had claimed their own areas of the transport where they sat.

With a bit of a rough start, the engines kicked to life, and the transport slowly hovered over the company's headquarters before turning off onto one of the streets. From there, the transport kept flying, heading down several levels, before finally coming to a stop roughly twenty minutes later outside a warehouse in the lower levels of Omega.

The warehouse looked like a standard warehouse from the outside. It had a large fence surrounding it, and then about twenty feet of nothing until it reached the actual building. The fence stood at 10 feet tall, and was made of metal rods positioned every four inches. On the top, a large wire was positioned a few inches above. The wire was charged, and was designed to send a charge of electricty through anyone who touched it. Behind the warehouse stood a small gas area, where a few large gas containers were located. The enterance to the warehouse was a large door. The company opened it, and the door slowly slid to the side. After the door had opened a sufficient amount, the company entered the warehouse.

Inside the place seemed a bit larger. The ceiling was high, with rows of shelves reaching up to it. Large grey boxes lined the shelf walls, and at the back, a few rows of boxes lay missing. Roughly three quarters of the way up towards the ceiling, a catwalk lay. The catwalk snaked its way around the shelves, going around and through wherever there were openings, with an occassional ladder leading back to the ground.

For the next six hours, the company would have to protect this building, and ensure that it stayed in its current condition. Six hours of sitting around, 'guarding' whatever the Volus had wanted to keep safe.

Marcus scanned the building, marking every place a person could be hiding. Dark corners and large shelves to spring a trap from. Things seemed easy enough, one entrance and several places they could post to cover any possible scenario.

"If it's all the same to you Bossman, I'd be more comfortable on a part of the catwalk, somewhere with a good line of sight on the front door."
