"Like I really want to kill Mayli." Sal said the weariness coming through in her voice. "And to answer your previous question about turning to alcohol, I wanted to lose some painful memories."

"Didn't you catch that Santius? Or were you too busy trying to get the image of Lux out of your head?" Ocara smiled again and took a slug of his drink. Despite being the light stuff, it still burnt on the way down and Ocara had to shake his head to dispel the wooziness.

Ocara didn't drink often.

"Yossar would you explain the rules again... For Santius of course"

"Can none of you get my quad out of your minds? I know its magnificence might intimidate some of you, but I promise it won't bite."

Lux was still sitting in the corner with Moloa. They were both watching a small screen they had taken from one of the bed rooms and set up in the games room. It was currently streaming shows that Moloa was searching through.

Dray quickly scuttled into Verahl's room, and took the armor. He held the armor in one hand, and a bucket and sponge he found under the sink in the kitchen in the other, before leaving just as quick and heading towards one of the bathrooms. It would be a while before properly cleaned and polished the armor to its original state.

Meanwhile Verahl walked across the main room to the elevator. In less then a minute, he found himself standing at the front desk in front of a young Asari. She recognized him as the Batarian that had just crossed through the lobby coated in blood. No one in the lobby spoak a word while he was originally there, and waited for his presence to be gone before returning to their business. She asked him if everything was alright, which Verahl quickly brushed off. He told her that he'd like to see their menu.

Before long, Verahl was standing in the cramped elevator with two Salarians. Each stood behind carts filled with a variety of different foods and dishes. The doors pinged open, as they disembarked into the main room of the penthouse. It was quiet, as most of the company was now in the games room, but Esten sat alone in the seats in the middle of the room. He looked asleep, but his reaction to the sound of the elevator doors opening proved he wasn't. The Salarians quickly pushed the carts to the kitchen area and placed the plates along the counter. Once they were all laid out, they hastily rolled the carts away. Both of them were on edge around Verahl, and were quite happy to be removed from him.

Meanwhile, Esten walked towards the games room, deciding to help Verahl and make himself useful. It was quite crowded inside, as most people were huddled around the card table, trying to follow the game Yossar had taught them.

"The food has arrived," he said. No one seemed to pay attention to him however. They drowned out his remark with their own conversations.

"I said the food was here," he repeated in a louder tone. He was rather annoyed that he was forced to say this twice.

Basara sighed. "I completely understand the first thing. Anybody who's spent their life under the whip does. But the second one I don't. When trying to escape memories, that's when they come back all the stronger." He heard Verahl call for food. Basara slowly got up and asked, "Sal, want me to grab you anything?"

"I can't eat anything but nutrient past remember. Keelah have you lived away from any extranet or vid source all your life or are you just naturally this stupid!?" She said irritably, then sighed. ""I'm sorry I'm just exhausted right now. No thank you."

"That's great Santius, now for me to teach you how to properly fire a gun. The way you shoot says that you could use a tutor," Lux quipped.

"Lux, we don't need a case of the blind leading the blind. And trust me, the levels of truth that statement reaches aren't lost on me." Moloa snapped back. Whether it was sparring with words or sparring with fists, Moloa and Lux's friendly rivalry was revealing itself at every opportunity.

Yeah, just a heads up for people. In case you haven't really noticed, I'm making Moloa and Lux have a more developed friendship. She was sitting to the side so often I felt I needed to have her more active. Also, personality has changed to be more witty, sarcastic, friendly, and silly, in order to define her better.

Too tired to make an actual post, but will answer the question. Yes, it will be degenerated more to a friendly rivalry. Tension will still be higher between the two of you, and if left in the same room together, it'd probably be filled with an uncomfortable silence, but yeah essentially. Maybe proffessional rivalry would be a better way to put it. So long as Santius keeps making one liners and remarks, Lux will be there to turn them right back at him. Then again, he'll do that to just about anyone when in earshot.

Basara shrugged as he walked forward. "It's fine. It's true, anyway. I'll still look for something; I can't imagine Verahl would blank out so bad that he would forget something like that. He's not me, after all." Basara laughed at the last line. He nodded at Sal just as he was walking out the door. "Goodbye, Sal." He closed the door behind him and went to grab some food.

Ocara (unlike Santius) waited for the next hand to run its course before he excused himself from the table and went out to the main room to fetch some food. But before he catered to that need he had to have a word with Verhal.

"Boss, I got a plan" he said as he approached Verhal. He was looking even more worn than usual and considering what they were going through that was not a simple feat.

"While you are doing.... whatever it is you are doing to get at Mayli, I think we should go after the equipment we left behind at HQ and continue our OP on the Pack"

Ocara leant against the wall nonchalantly, on the outside a mask of calm but inside he was bracing himself for the response.

"A small team, like Raven and San could go in, hopefully undetected and retrieve our gear, while I provide cover from a nearby roof building. Then Sal could resume work on the data that's been gathered"

Verahl briefly stopped eating and just stared at Ocara. The room seemed to grow silent as Verahl continued to look directly into Ocara's eyes. Finally, he picked a napkin up from under his plate and wiped the corners of his mouth. He then rested his arms on the table and crossed his fingers.

"Ocara... Why, why must you bring this up now? This is the first meal any of us have had today. Just... Just eat your food and shut up please. Just give me five minutes of rest without someone barging in with another problem. Ok?"

His voice didn't show anger, but the true stress he was under. He spoke as if he were scolding Ocara like a tired and worn out parent after a long day of work. He was hungry and tired, and didn't want to be interupted. He couldn't even care at the moment for what was happening. All he wanted was a few minutes of peace to eat.

That's because Santius is the one with 'Obvious Target' painted on his back.

I would have posted a more angry response from Verahl, but I've been trying to think of one since I read it in the morning with no luck. Honestly, it's incredibly hard to write angry when you're completely mellowed out.

Besides, he hasn't really warranted the V-Bomb. Unless he pushes it.

Ocara gave a understanding nod, it was true, this was the first rest Verhal had for a long while without conflict or some dispute that needed to be mediated. Just before Ocara backed off fully however he turned to Santius.

"There's no use in delaying it if we have the manpower or time available but ok, lets not 'ruin the moment'"

He smiled as he spoke that final bit, retrieved a meal from the counter and ate it on the couch.

'We do need to relax after all'

Yossar grabbed a plate of food, and found a place to sit at the table. Taking a few bites to enjoy the meal first, he rarely got the oppurtunity in his life.

" Right, so Ocara, besides being a card shark what else have you done in your life?"

Sal sighed and stood up and began pacing the room. With out the mind numbing effects of the alcohol she had to come up with another way to distract herself from the memories. She thought for a minute and snapped her fingers.

"That's it!" She said happily heading for the door. Her finger paused over the holographic "open" button. Crap, that's right no leaving the room until this whole this has blown over. Damn it! She thought sitting back down on the bed "I guess working on the Gauntlet will have to wait."
