"Your right there Yossar and I'd prefer to make my own worthwile actions, instead of having them dictated to me by some Sargent" Said Ocara, taking another drink of his alcohol and leaning back, in direct proportion to Esten, who was straightening.

"After all, what's more worthwhile?"

"Ooh a tough one. Just joking though, if I had it my way I'd be in the military right now but there's no use dwelling on the past, you gotta try to build the best life outta the crap your handed and there's no use dwelling on what I could've gotten"

Ocara laughed without mirth, almost bitterly before remembering himself and smiling once more.

"And in the meantime, we get to dodge the pack and blow shit up right?"

Only after he had taken another drink did he notice Raven re-enter, he sat up at his presence and returned a brief nod.

"So whats the word Raven? We going back to HQ?"

Yossar looked down as he listened to Esten, "That's what I used to think. Then I realized war of any sort didn't serve any kind of good. So I came here, figured if I had to do something amoral I might as well be paid well for it."

"Morality doesn't matter when compared to necessity," Esten said. His voice didn't show even a spec of emotion when he said it. It was a statement that his Commander had always told him.

"You don't join the military to contemplate and weigh options between right and wrong. You join to complete the tasks assigned to you in an effecient and expected manner. To question the orders given to you on account of the violation of your personal conceptions of the abstract idea of righteousness, is to simply warrant your replacement as a soldier. In the end, the triggers will be constantly pulled to end the lives of others, regardless if some are claimed to be terrorists and others as martyrs."

" Yes, yes, but then your just taking orders aren't you? In the end does it matter if you fight? If the war will is going to be fought anyways?" Yossar asked Esten, he seemed slightly amused.

"If your just a cog then, a meat gear in an ever rotating machine that only serves to burn and pillage. That's why there is no glory in the army, nothing is accomplished, one hill is gained, just so it can be taken again, and again and again."

Esten shook his head at Yossar. He was disappointed to hear what he was saying.

"I've never heard a Turian Marine that's had such disrespect for their military. It makes me sad to hear such nonsense from you. Especially when only minutes before you praise them, which raises concern for me in your hypocrisy. There is always glory to be had in the military, and only consequences for acting against it."

He slid from the couch and got up to properly face Yossar.

"You speak one minute praising your military but now demonize it as a tool of malice. You speak as though orders are the enemy instead of those who threaten you. You speak like a fool who knows not what they even argue about anymore, but instead talk only to antagonize. You don't recognize the importance of a soldier, and the function they serve. The orders aren't there as an option or a choice that's possible for you to make, but as an action you need to fufill. Not because you want to, but because others are depending on you to. A soldier doesn't do what they're told, and doesn't do what is expected of them only endangers the lives of those around them. And yet you speak of this as though it's a wrong that they all make. After all, when the orders come in, I'm not following them for my own interest. I'm following them because the soldiers around me are expecting me to in the same way I expect them to accomplish the same."

His voice then dropped, and started to build in aggression.

"Now, if you're going to continue to call what I, and all my comrades served for, a machine of malice and butchering fit only to destroy instead of to defend the societies and peoples I've spent my life protecting, I suggest you take it back to the Citadel, and join all the other anti-war sympathsizers who cheer everytime they hear a terrorist strike that murders the unsuspecting families we all tried to keep safe. Because you serve no purpose here."

" I'm sorry but I don't think I've ever praised the military, well not in present company, I have said it's the reason I am who I am, I do happen to like who I am for the most part, so you could say that is praise by extension, but that would be taking a bit of a leap. But then again, you seem to be quite capable of meta-physical leaps.

" Let's count them off. One, I live only to antogonize, no I don't I haven't been thirteen for quite a few years now. Two, you assume I don't value my team mates safety because I have morals, when infact this is not the case. I have always carried out orders to the T, despite whatever moral objections I have at the time. I wait until after we have been debriefed to question orders. Three, I should be with anti-war sympathizers, when in reality I don't find anything wrong with war, I just hate it when people pretty it up with commendations, medals, badges, and tales of glory.

"I find nothing wrong with violence, if I did, I would have stayed in Citadel space, instead I'm here, as a mercenary, killing people, because I like doing that, not because that's what people expect of me. Look if this subject is really that much of a bother to you let's just drop it, this is the best meal I've had in weeks and I don't want to ruin it."

Yossar resumed eating peacefully, taking sips intermittently.

Edited the last sentence he said, something a little less passive aggressive.

Sal rested in her bed, her eye's slowly closed. Finally, maybe now I can get some sleep. She thought as she slowly drifted off to sleep.

Sal opened her eyes in a small room. She was in a portable structure. She looked around to remember what she was doing in a tent. Oh that right, I'm part of the expedition team here on the homeworld: Rannoch. The geth have surrendered and we're here to make sure it's safe. She walked out into what she could only describe as a massacre. Her fellow delegates were slaughtered across the ground, along with several Geth bodies. She quickly dashed back inside her tent and grabbed her pistol, she was glad for the years she spent as a merc on Omega along side her friends Mayli, Zar, and Dray.

She looked around to make sure the weren't anymore geth, unfortunately there were two others. They turned and saw her emerging from the small building and opened fire. Sal ducked behind the door way and Activated er Disruptor ammo. She fired taking down one's shields and hacked it. The Trooper turned and fired on it's fellow, taking down it's shields. As the other shot and killed the hacked Trooper Sal fired what was left in her clip and killed the trooper.

She looked at the horror of her dead comrades. She said a small prayer over their bodies and searched for the one person she hadn't seen. Mayli had come with her on the trip, she was a good ambassador if a little blunt. Her body was no where to be seen. "Maybe she made it out, but where could she go?" She asked her self as she picked up ammo from the bodies of the geth. "Wait, of course the geth memory core!" She said kneeling down and she began to hack to core, after a few minutes she had enough data to put together the last two hours of video feed. She ran back into the building to her terminal, she connected her omni-tool to the computer and let it run. It was still twilight out and she saw Mayli in front of several other geth soldiers.

"Alright I'm putting my neck on the line for this it's time for you to show that you geth aren't like those fools on the Abmirlity board think you. Time to show you aren't going to give this hellhole back. Keelah I hate this place." Mayli said with disgust in her voice. "And so I can get get a promotion away from any other hellhole. And keep and eye out for Sal'Rena Vas Ulnay, She's tough so make sure she's dead other wise this whole plan will go down the drain. Now go!" The rest of the feed was the killing of her colleges.

"Mayli was behind it! But why she already had a nice job on the fleet why would she betray us?" Sal asked as she felt the barrel of a gun against her head. "Because I hate of of you, I always have." A voice said behind her. "Mayli please don't do this you'll..."

"What!? Be helped, you know as well as I do that I'll be killed and then spaced. But if you die then I'll be treated as a hero. The only one out of a team of twelve to survive a betrayal by the geth again. Then the board will destroy this place once and for all. I've already taken care of Zar. "

"But why, Mayli!? Zar was your friend and this is the home world, the only place we'll ever be accepted besides the fleet." Sal asked, the fear starting to show.

"You think I give a shit about that? Please. Zar was just a loose end I needed to tie up. She some how figured it out. And those on the board who want this place back should forget it. Our only hope is the fleet. This planet is dead, Just as you'll be. And after you, your little boyfriend, Dray." Mayli said her voice filled with malice. The shot rang out.

Sal bolted up with a scream. She quickly turned around to see the wall behind her. She looked around trying to remember what had happened. Oh right, Still a merc. She thought with a sigh of relief. I know I've been having nightmares before but this one was worse, much worse. I think I'm losing mind. I need to get out of this room. She thought putting and hand on her head as she walked out of her room. "Hi everyone." She said in a tired voice.

Sal sighed. "I've been better to say the least." She said sitting down with the rest of the group. "And I'd like to apologize for that by the way, know I should do it in front of Ver too but... well he's got enough on is plate right now with out having to worry about my apology."

"Besides, we picked up Yossar here and got to see Basara get thrown around like a ragdoll" said Ocara with a smile, piping up finally after being silent for the past few minutes.

This was more his kind of conversation, debates about morality, ethics or duty or long winded conversations about the rightness of being a solider. Nope, just good old fashioned smart remarks with the occasional bit of seriousness, after all it wouldn't be Aegis without the seriousness.

"Besides it turned out for the best, we've got a lead and we are finally kicking into action again"

The night passed without much further incident. The mood relaxed as time passed and as each went to sleep by their own choice. Dray and Esten stayed awake most of the night. Esten remained rather bored with being trapped in the penthouse, while Dray was at work perfecting the finish on Verahl's armor.

Verahl was gone before the morning had even started for the rest of the company. By the time the others were waking, Esten, Dray, Lux and Moloa were already up. Moloa and Dray were chatting in the kitchen as Lux and Esten did a few morning exercises to help wake them up.

"I'm hungry and he's bipolar, so all is normal I guess," Moloa said with a shrug. Dray broke from his conversation with Moloa at this. His face conveyed it all, he was startled and hurt by what had been said.

Moloa turned back from Santius, still smiling to see Dray's face.

"Sorry Dray, I'm only kidding. Really, it's just teasing, lighten up."

Raven walked into the kitchen a little tired from lack of sleep. He had been up for a good portion of the night planning out each of the missions Verahl had given him and the end result seemed pretty good. He would take Ocara, Lux, Esten, and the new guy with him to scout out the previous Aegis headquarters while sending Sal out with Dray for protection. He figured it would be the best case scenario because Dray seemed a bit more at ease around Sal. The final job he would leave to Santius, Moloa, and Basara. As much as he wanted to be there himself, the first mission had the most priority.

Scratching the back of his head, he grabbed some food before looking at those present. "Good morning all. As soon everyone is up I have some announcements."

Sal walked into the kitchen, well a better term would be shuffled in. "*grumble*...damn dreams...*grumble*" She grumbled as she sat down in a chair not bothering to acknowledge anyone yet.

Lux laughed at the mention of Raven making the announcements.

"So you're the one taking my place then. Just be glad this isn't the Pack, Raven!"

He howled with laughter as Moloa glared at him from across the room, before looking away at Raven. Before Raven could bite and ask why, she answered, stealing the thunder from Lux's laugh.

"There, you move up the ladder by killing the guy on top of you, or at least that's what he claims."

Lux stopped and shot the glare back at Moloa, annoyed that she stole his joke. She then turned backed to Lux, smiled, and waved at him, in order to rub it in.
