"Oh, if they threaten us, I'm more than happy to teach thema lesson. But they haven't done that yet, and I see no reason to pick a fight with them."

Even as she spoke, her hands unconsciously moved to her weapons. She did want to shoot something, but there was no sense in the group getting involved in a conflict with another gang for the wrong reasons.

"We can't go chasing every noble cause on Omega. Most of the people here should be either put down or locked up. But that's the way things have always been here, and that's not going to change."

Verahl:

Verahl sighed and watched as the refugees ignored much of Basara's speech.

They don't want apologies, they want vengeance.

He scratched his cheek before looking back at the refugees. He was having a hard time trying to decide what course of action to take.

"Have Dray make them something, and let them stay the night in the waiting room. The rest of you, downstairs for a meeting."

He paused, before looking over the refugees again.

Better not leave them alone, especially with Keith and Liz looking after them.

He quickly looked over the company, trying to decide who should be kept back.

"Ocara, you stay with them alright?" he asked as he went down the stairs.

He walked into the common room, and stood in front of most of the couches that were in it. He looked over and saw Dray already starting to prepare a meal.

Must have been listening to us.

He waited until the others were sitting around, before continuing.

"General consensus, help or not?"

Raven sighed before speaking, "I vote we help them. If people find out that they came to us for help and we refused then it'll be bad for business. I agree with Ocara, we should remove the head and watch the body twitch and die." Leaning back, he waited for the others to voice their opinions.

"If they don't have the money to pay us then we shouldn't help them. However, if we don't stop these guys now they will spread their movement to the rest of the station, we'll probably be next. I say we fight them, atleast have the ability to fight them without doing any damage to our district."

"We should take care of these refugees, and any that come our way, but I think we should leave this 'Four-Six' alone. They aren't threatening us at the moment, and it's a waste of time to try and stop the strong preying on the weak, especially here on Omega."

She shifted slightly in her seat, collecting her thoughts. She gestured with one hand and said, "Unless you want to take over the area these humans control. Then it might be worth it. But what do we know about this gang? Anything on size? Strength? Support?"

Meer opened up his palm and punched it, a look that any human would have recognized as that of Satan on his face. "Help 'em or not, I say you let me take a shot at this Four-Six group, boss. It's time I showed you what happens to racist bastards when you're not around to stop me."

Lux:

"If we're not getting something out of it, I don't think we need to bother with it," Lux said when the discussion came to him.

Esten:

"I agree," Esten said afterwards. "I don't see the value balancing the risk. If we do strike however, do it now while they're unaware."

Karnak:

"Take. Them. Down," his voice filled with spite as he spat each word out.

"Wait until you see what I got" said Ocara with a smile and a nod to the refugee's, as he made his way back to the enterance and fetched the two bags of liqour from the floor. WHile he wasn't especially happy with being left out of the companies planning, he still liked the opertunity to help where he could and at the same time, have an oppertunity to consider his situation.

He set the bag down by the refugee's and stood for a moment before speaking again.

"If you need anything else just speak up, I'm sure we have it somewhere"

And with that Ocara took a seat by the refugee's, bottle of liqour in hand. He considered his options and what it meant for him before coming to a conclusion, he'd have to go back, the sooner the better and talk to some people, find out some stuff and possibly, get something done about it, hopefully without the others realising he was doing anything at all.

He didn't want to see what their reactions would be, especially Esten's, or even Karnak's. Wow, that would be more than a little messy in terms of his reputation.

So for now he was on his own... Well, not completely

"Why're you so angry, Karnak? Because it's batarians suffering at the hands of humans? It's nothing compared to what your people have done to them." Her voice had a slightly condescending tone to it.

I edited my last post, I felt like what I had written earlier kind of derailed Yossar's character from what I had originally planned for him.

After reading the Mass Effect Wiki I take this back.

Before Karnak could even respond to what Thayna had said, Verahl already slammed his fists into the table, and glared straight at her.

"I'm sorry, is there a problem with MY people?"

Verahl:

"Verahl, let's face it Batarians and Humans haven't gotten along very well. Both races have been doing things not many would approve of."

Verahl turned to Santius, his eyes still holding their menacing glare. The one that sent shivers down even Lux's spine.

"Santius," he said calmly, the chill in his voice making it all the more terrifying. "You're not answering for her."

Sal watched as Verahl glared at Thayna, and she could feel things were going to get very bad very quickly unless Thayna chose her words very carefully. Since Thayna was one of the newer members of the company, Sal felt she wouldn't. Sal slowly backed away a little, not wanting to be caught up in Ver's wrath.

Basara looked at Verahl, neither angry nor scared. "Verahl. He might not answer, but I can. Is there a problem, such as racism with your people? No. Is there a problem, such as Batarians enslaving humans? Yes. Not all Batarians do it, but enough do. You and I both know this. If you would like to dispute it, I can always show you the scars if you want. Humans do some messed up stuff to Batarians, as shown by the 4-6 crew. I'm not gonna lie about that." Basara sighed then gave his opinion on the subject. "Anyways, I say we attack them. Face it, people like this are never satisfied. I say we hit them now instead of waiting until their ranks swell up.""

Yossar sighed quietly to himself, as was the case in many scenarios, the best results would be achieved via staying the hell out of it. True he did have feeling on the matter, to him Thayna and Basara were being idiots, confusing the idea of Batarians and the Hegemony. What they were complaining about was the actions of a state, to say it was the Batarians was simply racist, as if you were insinuating those things were in the Batarian's nature. But, he chose not to add a single word, Verahl made it clear to Santius it was between him and Thayna, what Basara said was out of turn, he wouldn't make the same mistake.

Verahl turned to look at Basara, immediatly striking fear into him. It seemed as though the room suddenly grew quieter and darker, and as though everyone sitting beside him started to fade away, leaving only Verahl to impose upon him.

"What right do you think you have over Santius? I said to let her explain," each of his eyes seemed to hold a piercing and perverted dread to them. "Now continue Thayna, what exactly do you think of my people?"

OoC said:
Xero, I'm going to make this clear so there is no confusion. Verahl is frightening when he's like this. This is not a feeling you can simply ignore. You are afraid of him. A chill goes down your back, racing down your spine as you slowly tense up. You find it hard to speak back to him, you don't want to draw attention to yourself or justify your words. A large lump is in your throat, making it hard to speak growing as time goes on. It feels as though you're back in elementary school, being dragged in front of the principle, who's giving you a cold stern look, and whose words are sharp and sudden. These are things you are starting to feel. Maybe not as extreme, but it's something that makes you extremely uncomfortable and something that if amplified will be far worse.

Now, you don't have to show all these signs, in fact, you want to try and suppress them. You don't want the true extend of this to show on you. However, this is something that can't be simply brushed away. It's something that affects you, and is something that unnerves you, make it show that Basara acknowledges this and is dealing with it the best he can. Have him say his words slowly, have him swallow to try and clear his throat, hell, even a small stutter are all good signs. You can still be defiant if you wish (ill advised) but just realize what is acting on you instead of writing it off.

Ted, to be fair Xero can say whether or not Basara is intimidated. Unless Verahl has some supernatural power that activates peoples fear reactions, there's no reason he can't say his character isn't afraid. Considering Basara's usually cavalier attitude, it makes sense that he's not the kind of guy to be reduced to wetting himself by a stare. Demanding someone's character feel a certain way as a result of your action is god-modding.

Granted, just like everything else, there are times when it is realistic for a character to take a hit, and to be scared. I'm not saying Xero should make Basara completely without fear, because that's just unrealistic, and undermines Basara as a believable character. So for Xero the question is, is it realistic for Basara to be intimidated at this time.

Just felt like throwing in my two cents on the matter.
