Glad to hear it's optional and won't impact the main story at all if you choose to ignore it.

Still absolutely nothing about it that makes me care. And nothing ever will. Well, unless you HAD to play it to get the best ending. Then I'd be pissed.

So I won't get to play as Garrus after all. :(

Oh well, I at least get to play as a Turian or Krogan.

Wow. I... I actually like this.

You can ready the galaxy by having Shep do side quests... or by playing multiplayer.

That's... a really great idea.

I've been all ambivalent about the multiplayer... but this actually sounds kind of fun. ^^

Wow. If Bioware can pull it off then ME3 could double in awesomeness. I always did think that an online component would compromise the core game, but this may be just what I've been waiting for.

I will admit, I'm genuinely curious about this, genuinely curious. I like the fact that they've come out and said 'it's optional, it can but doesn't affect the single player campaign, we thought this was the best way to integrate it with the single player experience and our main focus is the single player campaign.' They've basically come out and vanquished all our multiplayer related fears. Let's see how truthful they're being about it.

And let's see how many people choose to play as an Asari.

Great Zombie Jesus, that's awesome! I mean, I was already kind of hopeful for the multiplayer, but this is just... DAY-UM!

Yay! Looks like Mass Effect 3 will have a feature for me to ignore and never use, just like the Cerberus Network in Mass Effect 2. I probably would have tried the multiplayer but it was heavily implied that you can't do it locally, on one console.

As if there wasn't already enough reasons for me to not buy Mass Effect 3, this is finally enough for me to ignore it. I'll just pretend Shepard died to the collectors.

Can we make multiple multiplayer characters or just one? I want to be a turian, but goddamn the krogan are awsome...

Well...I feel strangely calm about Bioware's description of multiplayer. I can't help but remain skeptical, but I still hope that this game won't be terrible. ._.

Also I hope just for shits and giggles we get the option to play as, Elcor, Hanar, or Volus. :D

OR THE KEEPERS.

Personally I'd want to play as all the races if it affected gameplay. However just for aesthetic purposes I'd probably go with boring human, hyperactive salarian, or geeky quarian. :D

Hmm. I do wonder if there will be any hilarious dialogue options in co-op. Like everyone fights to try and point the dialogue wheel at paragon or renegade and whatever the majority pushes towards that option gets picked. :D

Yeah, agreed. At least we can be done with the speculation now and focus on the part of the game that I care about.

My Gold subscription is dead as of this week (and it's staying dead), so I can't participate in this anyway. Unless it's local co-op. But then...literally none of my friends are gamers.

Edit: I don't think I like this "readiness meter" thing, though. Are they really gonna have a meter that lets you know when you're able to get the "good ending"?

They get it, they just get it. It is almost perfect. The game is stand alone, yet multiplayer will have a small impact on it. You get to play with friends in an action game where tactics and spell usage actually matter. You get to customize your character. And something that I wasn't expecting, you get to play as aliens rather than just humans.

But what would make it perfect would be 4 player split-screen co-op (Like Serious Sam 3), but I doubt that we will maybe even get 2 player split-screen.

That really does sound awesome as hell. I was considering cancelling my ME3 pre-order, not out of any kind of hate, but just out a a sense of apathy, but I think Im gonna go ahead and keep it now xD.

I was worried, but... this sounds like a pretty freaking awesome idea. I am certainly very interested. I'm glad it's a matter of co-op rather than a full-on competitive multiplayer mode, and the fact that it can be (but thankfully not must be) integrated into the single-player experience is very interesting. Good, good.

So they made it have an impact on the story but it's optional to do so = Excellent

The multi-player was made by another Bioware studio = Good

You can play as Asari, Turians, Krogans and the other races = Very good

Sounds like they have hit the jackpot

I think Asari and Krogan will be the most popular choices

Anyway, sounds interesting. I had a feeling they would do something like this, though I am somewhat sceptical about the 'Galaxy Readiness' bar. I hope to hell that you can't just look at it and go 'ok, I can get the good ending now, cya sidequests' and be done. I would personally prefer something more along the lines of DA:O allies in your camp. As you help more and more races, and they agree to join your cause, you get an emissary from each on your ship. When you think you have enough help, go fight for Earth, but the 'Galaxy Readiness' bar just seems like something for the people who find it too hard to get the good endings.
Question actually. They may have said it is, but is this bar visible? If not, then I don't care about it.
