Well. I liked the sabotage thing. it was pretty fucking fun in my playthrough. I decided to keep the sabotage secret until the pinnacle moment and when my Shepard revealed it and Mordin was like "I MADE A MISTAKE". I was pretty fucking impressed. Yes, that moment was done well. Hell Mordin sold me on that choice.. because I was convinced up to that point that I was going it sabotage it. And, at that moment.. I just couldn't screw over two pals. I mean, one pal is alright, but two? There's renegade and then theres asshole.
I wouldn't quite compare it to Ashley/Kaidan's decision but it was close.Closer to the wrex thing. Which wasn't really a big deal for me because I maxed out Intimidate fairly early.
So no that particular moment didn't resonate with me.
The legion and Tali thing was pretty bleh for me. And so melodramatic. holy shit. I've seen youtube videos of her suicide and I can't get over the cheese of it all. "OGMOMG MY PEOPLE, MASKLESS DIVE INTO THE OCEAN" Give me a break tali.
Like, let me see if I can build my argument like this. You know the ashley/Shepard showdown over the council. That could've been a tense moment. They couldn've built that moment much better. One renegade interupt shouldn't have solved that issue. The whole trust issue thing had been bubbling up from the beginning of the game.. and to see it resolved with a silly renegade interrupt is disappointing.
I'd be okay with one wasted opportunity, but there are too many for me to just ignore them.
The trial had oodles of potential for great moments. They mucked that away.
Hell, the starkid could've been done like Vigil. They mucked that away.
The anderson moment could've been touching. They mucked that away.
All in the name of streamlining rpg aspects. it's despicable. I can not appreciate a game that cripples itself just to entertain the casual market assholes.
Yeah, I got a much different Legion/Tali scene than you did. I was playing a Paragon game, though. The Paragon scene is actually pretty good, and it's well worth giving it a chance.
Honestly, I'm kinda getting the vibe that maybe they just botched the Renegade version of the game. Because the Paragon versions of a lot of the big scenes in the game seem to be a lot less... I dunno... hammy, I guess? Like the part with Udina and the Council. After my playthrough I was pretty curious how that would go if I'd taken the Renegade interrupt... and jeez... yeah... I definitely can see why you dislike it so much. Not because of
what happens, but because of
how it happens.
I definitely agree with you on the starchild. It had the potential to be ME3's Vigil... but fell pretty ridiculously far short.
I actually rather liked the Anderson moment. What botched it for me was that it was so short, and lead straight into the starchild. I actually would have liked the ending a whole lot more if it had ended at the scene with Shepard and Anderson and left their fates kinda ambiguous.
I dunno if I'd go so far as to call streamlining despicable. I'd probably feel much stronger about it though if it were happening to a series like System Shock, which I admit to being a much bigger fan of. But for the time... I dunno. I see nothing wrong with being inclusive, as long as that doesn't mean ruining the game experience. The days of ludicrously difficult NES games and incredibly complicated strategy and/or simulation UIs are in the past at this point, and sometimes I think that might actually be a good thing. You probably disagree, but that's cool. To be honest, I wish we could have our cake and eat it too. I wish there was a more even split between the number of 'inclusive' and 'hardcore' games coming out. One can hope, I guess.
