Lots o different kinds. Progressive stuff like Protest the hero, Sikth, Tool, Opeth, and recently I'm liking a band called periphery; Groove stuff like Machine head and Lamb of god; melodic death metal like old In flames and Soilwork; and the genre of Devin townsend. No point trying to pigeonhole that genius.

I like all metal ive ever heard.
Favourite band and song will get me in trouble though...
Slipknot - Pulse of the Maggots.
I listen to it every morning to get me out of bed.

Other than that, Opeth - Baying of the Hounds is a close second.
NuMetal isnt metal moar like just rock
Yay, elitism. Woo!

Technical death, not so much like the stuff posted earlier (The Faceless), but more like this:
Lethargy!

I also listen to a fair bit of sludge, stuff like Eyehategod and Noothgrush

I am one of those metal heads who are all up in being true. that means nightwish, slipknot, korn dimmu borgir and such must be DESTROYED!!!!

True metal is:

iron maiden
sabbath
motorhead
venom
all first & second wave black
most power metal
all thrash

i also enjoy progressive and technical stuff like opeth, dream theater, liquid tension and eye of horus.

anything called core is a sin.

stoner metal and doom is also fantastic.. like electric wizard

New Wave American Heavy Metal
Mostly just for Lamb of God.
Lamb is by far my favorite. For some reason I have the hardest time actually classifying them.

Oh yea, nothing can touch this song IMO.

I love a mix of all metal, but I guess right now I listen to a lot of power metal. If I were to make my own band it'd be a cross between 80s metal and power metal.

Favorite band is and always will be Metallica, favorite song The Four Horsemen. I feel like I've answered that question on this site so many times :p
Looking at yur avatar I guess your also a fan of Iced Earth
Definitely, Jon Schaffer makes some amazing songs, he's a musical genius. Iced Earth is probably the reason I started listening to power metal in the first place.

And your username is Mechanix? Megadeth for the win. xD
Haha yeah Megadeth is pretty good, although Mechanix was actually a song written by Mustaine while he was still in Metallica and they played it together. After he left, metallica changed it slightly and Mustaine brought it to megadeth.

I love it all but Industrial and alternative metal would be my two favourite metal genres

Let's see. I usually go for thrash metal, groove metal, prog metal, speed metal, melodic death metal, metalcore, deathcore, and good old fashioned heavy metal.

I love Melodic Death metal, myself. In Flames, Dark Tranquility, At the Gates, Mors Principium Est, CoB, so many great bands...

My favorite band isn't a melodeath band, though. It's CRADLE OF FILTH (A symphonic black metal band)

This is my favorite song by them as well as my favorite song of all time by anyone. It's pure musical ecstasy...

EDIT: Heh, I bet you thought I was going to post a link to Nymphetamine, didn't you. No, sir.

Looking through this thread I've got an album from probably 60% of the bands mentioned here; across a bunch of those genres.
At the moment though, I'm really getting into the 'groove metal' side of things, an outstanding example being Gojira, for those who haven't listened to them, DO IT NOW!

Another amazing band that's only got a fleeting mention in here would have to be Strapping young Lad; Devin Townsend fronts for them, and he's a genius musician.

And this band, Klone, are very rarely heard of, but are equally epic

So yeah. I listen to alot of styles and bands, as long as they keep it heavy it's good with me.

Not really. I can assure you that all the NON-Norwegian stuff is far scarier.
I really just relaying this considering I've never actually looked for or really listened to any Norwegian Black Metal. I always hear these crazy stories.

It's true, they were batshit insane back then. The music itself? Not so much. Although it's pretty bloody fun to listen to. :)
