i'd have to say either melodic death or groove metal is my favourite.
Favourite band would have to be old in flames (SERIOUSLY WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE GUYS)

I like most forms of metal really so it is too hard to pick. I'd say my most listened to forms are Classic, Metalcore and Nu Metal.

Either power or progressive.

My bands are Nightwish (with Tajra, before Annette), Sonata Arctica, and Dream Theater.

Sonata Arctica's "Unia" will probably forever be my favorite album. Nightwish is probably my second favorite band, with their best album being "Once". And Dream Theater is just the most talented band around these days.

Honorable Mentions: Kamelot, Serenity, Closure In Moscow (a litle more progressive rock, but whatever), Darkwater, and Vangough.

I don't really believe in labeling, but I think melodic deathmetal is my thing: CoB, Nightwish, Iron Maiden (not strictly melodic nor death, but I'm lazy) and probably InFlames.

I also have a weak spot for DragonForce, they try so hard

Lots o different kinds. Progressive stuff like Protest the hero, Sikth, Tool, Opeth, and recently I'm liking a band called periphery; Groove stuff like Machine head and Lamb of god; melodic death metal like old In flames and Soilwork; and the genre of Devin townsend. No point trying to pigeonhole that genius.
