Its not just hardcore gamers who are sometimes wrong about what they want, its all consumers. Like Henry Ford said: "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.".
However I do think Microsoft are wrong on this one.

Is it that bad for me to simply say. I dont like the look of kinect and wont buy it? Im sure others will but it doesnt appeal to me personally.

As long as it isnt forced on me through every game possible ill be happy.

We haven't been 'wrong' about market trends. We said we won't like it and we haven't. They sold because of casual gamer shitheads.

I love my 360 avatar, having a cute elf boy is so awesome.

Paying Real money for fake stuff for said avatar though? I have not spent a single dime on any of that stuff for my 360 avatar and I never will.

Why did they go away from the free stuff?! Why?!

I like that hes just speaking instead of reading a well rehearsed statement, but that doesnt change that hes speaking out of his ass and is wrong

Hey, Microsoft. We aren't gonna buy your shitty, overpriced camera to boost our gamerscore. If I'm not willing to pay £5 for Avatar: The Game, then I'm not gonna spend £100 on this next-gen Eyetoy bollocks you're churning out.

However, keep providing a top quality online service and good games for your console and I'll be happy. Just don't try to force this new fad on me and fucking insult me at the same time.

Yes, because hardcore gamers are willing to pay $150 for meaningless points underneath their gamertag. What kind of moron would do that? I mean honestly, if you're willing to do something like that, please speak up so I can mock you on a more personal level.

Geeze Toulouse, way to kill some more sales by opening your mouth! ^_^

Anyone should know that countering backlash from the community with more backlash only hurts your own business. Sure there are some unique situations where it works, but this is not one of those moments.

I wasn't planning on buying kinect in the first place, but even if I was remotely interested, I wouldn't be anymore after reading something like that.

Let's face it, your best bet is to just admit that it's gonna be an over-expensive kiddy toy and get it out in the open, blame Nintendo for making gamers everywhere skeptical about motion detention gameplay, and move on.

Most gamers don't want this product, so pushing it on them isn't going to help you, just hop over to the only audience that's interested in this thing and focus on them instead.

Don't mind me, just being a tr00 hardcore gamer and playing this game to the end to get all the achievements.

Wise profit? I must say I have never really heard of any wise money gains before, much less ones that once said "really" before, but I guess this would be my first :p

OP: Goddammit microsoft. Yeah, hardcores, the people you have been making money off ever since you created the xbox, are all wrong. In fact, I'm sure that if we all left, it wouldn't even dent the popularity of the xbox 360 and future iterations. No sir-ee

its amazing how badly a company can misunderstand its shoppers. and the wii was/is only popular because of the non-hardcore people.

This could work if they make it so kinect games are worth 5000G each, that'd coax a fair few.

They're not giving kinect games 5000G are they?

Ugh, another example of Microsoft being abusive to their customers. They're just lucky that there aren't a huge amount of alternatives to the 360.
