What makes people suckers for liking different games to you?

People who believe their opinion is important will be fools.
People are buying expensive hardware before any reasonable games have even come out. I'm not against them buying things they might like, but they should at least wait until:

A) The price goes down a bit.
B) There's a reasonable library of games to justify their purchase.

I suppose that a hundred-fifty clams times two-point-five mill units is a decent chunk of scratch but that number doesn't seem very impressive to me. It would be nice to have a comparison of how many people have 360s, who are buying them and who are using them, to get a better idea of what is actually happening.

Frankly, I'm still indifferent to the whole affair and I think I won't bother until the games don't consist of tech demos even then, my arm will have to be twisted fairly hard, despite the fact that the technology seems to work well. Something about the whole "motion gaming comes to other systems" thing just annoys the piss out of me. I'll wait to see if this really does take root and isn't just another overpriced gimmick.

EDIT:

Indeed. If gaming history has anything to teach us, this is not the first time some new, seemingly amazing hardware has come out as an upgrade for an already existing system. Most of those in the recent past didn't quite end well for consumers, and we really ought to be more wary of the Kinect.

And let the outcry of Michael Patcher haters laughing because he was not psychicly right about the sales of Kinect begin...

2.5 million? isn't that an awfully low number of Kinects to be sold within the first 25 days for Microsoft? I would've expected at least 4-5 million. they have a special Nickelodeon commercial for the Kinect too featuring their "hottest new biy band" Big Time Rush. I would've thought THAT would have brought (damn you rhyming words) in more sales. Commercial>> http://ads.nick.com/sponsors/2010/kinect/

This is something I just can't fathom. There aren't even any games for it yet! I find it hard to believe that millions of hardcore Xbox gamers have shrugged of their Gears of War and Halo: Reach to play... Kinectimals.
Ummm... that's kind of the point though, they haven't. While there are likely a notable number of hardcore 360 owners who bought Kinect because of it's non hardcore gaming uses, or because of hope for the future of the tech, I doubt any of them at all bought it to replace Gears or Halo.

There are enough games out there, and enough appeal in the hardware, for the non hardcore gaming crowd which is exactly who MS have been aiming the Kinect at so far.

Just a lazy million a day eh? I'm not surprised though, every time I'm down the shops I see people walking around with the Xbox Slim / Kinect bundle. In the area I live though I wouldn't be shocked if they'd stolen them.

I'm surprised it is seling so well. I bought one a couple a weeks ago and I enjoy the hell out of it. Dance Central is rediculously fun, and my roommate and I have had a lot of fun going through Kinect Adventures.

I realize that but I was under the impression that casual or non-gamers interested in motion gaming would have already bought a Wii - considering it came out 4 years ago, already has a full library of games (for casual and hardcore gamers alike), and costs at least 200$ less since the Kinect is an add-on and still requires an actual 360 console to use.

Reminds me of the PS3 launch. Overpriced, no games, everyone bought it, *hangs head in shame* myself included.

Maybe if we stop talking about Kinect and Move they'll go away.
Amen, brother. It's like the elephant in the room, except the elephant barely works and it's not fun.

Nice of you to call people derogatory names.

Any thought behind your post, or is it just the anti Microsoft mindset that people pick up on from the internet?
Maybe you should read my later response to a quote like this instead of making me go through this again. Read posts 21 for my elaboration and 22 for someone who supports my position.

While I am actually surprised at this fact and couldn't care less about Kinect in it's self (I already have a Wii) I am at least relieved to see Kinect and Move doing well. Mostly because their fail would of meant that the games industry would have some difficult times as Sony and Microsoft try to make up for their losses.

I wrote a huge summary of my ideas on the Kinect and Microsoft in general. I condensed it down to this one statement.

It's Microsoft. When was the last time they did something original BESIDES the Kinect?

I am being very serious, and would like to say that I am in no way "Trollin'" as the internets like to say these days. I understand that this is an inflammatory statement, but I still pose a valid point.

Okay, I read those posts, I still don't see why you feel the need to call people names just because they find worth out of something you don't.

It's nice that you eventually gave some reasoning behind why you haven't bought the Kinect yet, but the name calling is just plain uncalled for.

Be proud of your reasoning for not buying a new tech add-on, demand better games before you spend your hard earned money. But to call people who want what is out there suckers is just fucking lame dude.

Not that you are fucking lame, the idea of calling people suckers because they buy what they want is fucking lame.
Buying something which costs $200 which has yet to prove itself is dumb. I'm sorry, but that's just how it is. These people have fallen for all the marketing and so forth and have invested their hard earned money into something which they don't even know they'll enjoy. People can buy what they like, but they should at least be smart about it.

If in the next few months there is a giant outcry of people who feel ripped off from buying the Kinect, I will eat my shoes.

I will of course boil them for a long time first, so they get soft first.
I'll hold you to that.
