I lost the thrill a long time ago, hoping the adventure update will change that. I still miss my Alpha worlds.

Minecraft is a perfect game...

...But not even perfection can hold your interest for eternity it seems.

I keep going back to it, but I don't play it for huge periods anymore.

Its annoying because I have big ideas of things I want to build but the problem is that everything is built in blocks. I cant create curved surfaces therefore I just dont bother with my ideas.

I want to make a big roller-coaster but I just cant cos I cant make it curvy and stuff.

Pointless game is pointless. I still enjoy it from time to time because I want to try and build X or Y, but since it has no point other than "go nuts" most people seem to lose the drive. On the other hand... some people build crap like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhksNvUwaRc&feature=player_embedded]

Well I like to build stuff just for the hell of it and I only recently got Minecraft so, no. Its the same thrill as making a short story or drawing a picture or whatever; it has no purpose, but I enjoy doing it anyway.
Also I faff about with editing textures a lot. It probably helps that if I want to say, build an underground laboratory, I have a texture pack that will make that look roughly how I envisioned it.

Currently doing a gothic fortress, thinking that some kind of supervillain volcano lair is my next one. Put it on a mountain, big glass window looking down, lots of lava... hmm

TL;DR No, I haven't. But I also haven't been playing for long.

I have never had a thrill over it. I was bored with it just from playing 2 evenings. I am glad the Humble Bundle came with a demo so I could find this out without wasting money on it.

I kinda lost the drive to play...
Got to the stage where mobs were more annoying then fulfilling, always played SMP, turned em off, eventually got worldedit, TooManyItems, SinglePlayerCommands... had some fun building large awesome structures but afterwars it felt hollow.

Then we turned mobs back on and tried the 404 chellenge on SMP...

I think I'll be set till 1.8 ;)

I till don't regret dropping $20 on it, I've payed over $100 for games before that I didn't even play for an hour, I've apparently played for a total of 3 weeks since the statistics update and I played EASILY 10x that much before 1.5...
Money very well spent, Can't wait for 1.8.7
What? You think 1.8, with all it's content ISN'T going to bring in a metric shitton of new bugs? the game IS still in Beta you know >.>

Every time I play, I set a rule for myself. I have a world for building stuff for fun, and use an inventory editor on it. I have another world for survival, roaming the world and living off the land as I leave towers to guide my way home. In my third world, I hunt for dungeons and fight mobs for fun.

I haven't been playing that long but I can't stand single player. I refuse to grind. To me its about building something in your mind, and being anal about how legit the building blocks are doesn't help bring out that image. The painter doesn't sour the earth to make his own paints and supplies, he buys them. Neither does a construction company make their tools and supplies, they buy them. World Edit and spawn items forever!

I lost my thrill a long time ago. So does many which results in adding mods. But further reasons for modding is simply how once you enter the Minecraft world the sense of freedom, the possibilities out there with everything breakable and stack able (well most things) was amazing. But of course the other half was about digging deeper and finding treasures or dangers.

But once you understand the mechanics, realize the limitations and have little direction it gets stagnant. It comes down to complete self motivation and goals in what to build or simply do. Games that are not linear need a large variety of directions to pursue with multiple outcomes. Personally I am wanting for A.I. and better furniture interaction but once you explore that, you will only land on their limitations.

A game can only do so much.
Pretty much this. I found the finite water mod, which makes the game twice as fun, but even still, after you reach the in-game limits, it quickly gets old.

I still love my Minecraft, while at first I was like "WOO! I build torches!" "WOO! I'm alive!" Then I had to get my fix doing bigger and bigger things, getting all diamond armor, building a tower to the top. Then I joined a server, that changed things around, now Minecraft isn't just a personal endeavor, it's the culmination of many people's work, you are now in a real community, you'll go provide logs for the tree of life that some guy is building, you're digging on a pyramid that goes from the bottom to maximum limit. The buildings got bigger, the achievements got greater, and even when you don't know what to do, someone always needs help with their own project. And by the end of it, there's other people who will teleport over and say "Wow, that is really amazing, really really amazing." That is my Minecraft, rather than just wasteing time, you're wasting time with a bunch of other people, all of whom are looking for that next fix of accomplishment.

It sort of has for me. I hope to rekindle my love for it after a while. I haven't played it in a few months, so now that there are all these new updates being done, hopefully I can experience all these new things and start fresh.
