Now here's a challenge to you.
I don't do challenges.
So your refusing to make your opinion clear and succinct?
I believe my opinions are already clear and succinct. I refuse to participate in your challenge, as I see nothing to gain in doing so but explaining myself to you.
The meaning of succinct as per http://www.thefreedictionary.com/succinct
suc·cinct (sk-sngkt)
adj. suc·cinct·er, suc·cinct·est
1. Characterized by clear, precise expression in few words; concise and terse

Walls of text refuting every sentence I have written does not count as succinct.
The closest I can understand is your view is that everything I say is wrong.
If you have already stated your view succinctly then please direct me to the post.
Otherwise your going to start looking very troll-green.

Not just on this issue, but on every social issue, when I hear "I was raised to think-" my brain changes it to "I have no opinion of my own because I don't think independently."

It's like the George Carlin rant on 40+ guys that say "My daddy" it's always "My daddy used to say 'blah blah-blah blah blah-blah blah-b-blah-b-blah blah blah!'" Oh yeah? Well wasn't THAT fuckin' enlightening? There comes a time to grow up and start thinking for yourself.

I think she loves every second of the attention.

I mean, come on: if she'd have won the competition, no one would even care. But coming in second, that makes her a martyr for standing up for her opinions...which is how she was raised. Which itself makes no sense--how she was raised determines her opinions? She can't think for herself? Yeah--that's a real role-model right there!

Just like...certain recent additions to The Escapist membership, conservatives LOVE feeling like martyrs.

Just look at what she had to say:

I see the audience would've wanted me to be more politically correct..."I feel like I won," she said. "I feel like I'm the winner. I really do."

I bet she does. She got exactly what she wants: a soapbox.

In any case, when it comes to issues of sexual morality, she said: "I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman"

But apparently showing her tits off to every person in America to win a competition is perfectly a-ok.
We live in strange times. I don't see why though everyone is attacking her for her opinions.

Seems strange to ask her a question where a judge would almost certainly be biased about the outcome. Doesn't quite seem right to me, but I don't really believe in the Miss USA contest either.
Agreed. I don't think that gay/lesbian marriage should really even be a public discussion because of all the hatred and bias that it manages to draw up. I think that an openly-gay gossip blogger asking about gay marriage is like a Nazi asking if you're Jewish or not. She shouldn't ask that question, and doesn't deserve to judge if her verdict can be subjective like that.
Worst possible way to phrase that, but I agree. The only way gay marriage can every achieve true equality is if we treat it exactly as we would straight marriage: as no big deal.

Rather than smear legitimate, conveniently unspecified, members of this community have the guts to name names, you coward.

You know, apperantly she sad something like "I don't like it, but I won't stop people from doing it." Isn't that like, perfectly fine? It means that she doesn't force her opinions on anyone else. The fact that she says that that's simply how she was raised is just a very very weak excuse though.

Other then that, I REALLY don't see why she's Miss USA. I find her ab-so-lutely revolting. I mean just look at this picture:

Sweet heavens, is there anything élse on that chest besides skin and tits?! Those teeth, frightingly white, those arms, thin like sticks. Just....UGH!
Come on USA, don't tell me that the most beautifull girl you have is some ugly fashion (in the sense of: following all the trends of how girls should look...wait I think I just found the problem) puppet?!

Whilst I have nothing against homosexual people, I support the marriage as between a man and a woman only. All my understanding of marriage is that it is a religious institution joining 2 people that wish to spend their lives together under whatever deity and most religions frown on or ban homosexuality. Homosexual people can do it through the civil union or whatever it's called, where it's through the government rather than religion.

Saying you support it to be "politically correct" just pisses me off. Politcal Correctness is getting ridiculous now. So I'm not allowed my own opinions? I have to go with the "in-crowds" thinking?
My answer "F*** You!"

And for the record, I'm neither for or against it, I couldn't really care less.....
It isn't my problem and as long as it doesn't cause any trouble for my life and how I want to live, then I'll continue to not care either way.

For one thing, the president doesn't believe in same sex marriage so why should she? I mean, why ask a question like that when 60% of Americans would say they were against it. I am all for gay marriage(I live in Canada) I think it is the peoples rights to do what they want and questions like that shouldn't be asked. Some people just don't like the idea of gay marriage, again that includes the president and his office.

She lost because she doesn't believe that one subset of humanity deserves the same rights that the rest of us are eligible for when they are doing nothing to hurt anyone. I'm just fine with that.

I respect her opinion because it was open and honest. It was her own 'personal opinion' that marriage is between a man and a woman, but she didn't reject gay marriage on a whole.
"In my country ... marriage should be between a man and a woman." Yes, she DID reject gay marriage as whole.

I finally went back to church this week after a long hiatus. At the sharing portion a man got up front and talked about his daughter's newborn, and how he and his husband were happy grandparents. If you don't like gay marriage then don't marry someone of the same sex.
If you even remotely try to stop gay marriage for others, even at a contest where jerk Perez Hilton sets you up for unfair failure, I am coming to step on your head BECAUSE I am bloody sick and tired of the disenfranchisement, the disingeniousness, the BS, the etc. etc. etc.

GAY MARRIAGE RIGHTS, RIGHT NOW!

What is more worrying is that people actually care what a beauty pageant entry has to say about the world.

They are just there to look good.

By the way beauty pageants are the devil and should be eradicated like Smallpox.

This is a perfectly good example of why you can't speak your mind in America, you have to say what people want to hear. If she had lied and said that gay marriage was cool, then she might have won (and I haven't even seen her face, but whatever, I'm sure she is HELLLLA hot).

The controversy over this is just pure ridiculous; just because she was raised in a family that is not gay or lesbian doesn't mean she is any less of a good human being for it.

If you were raised with an indoctrination against a group of people due solely to their lifestyle choices, then you are a bad person. I don't like dealing in absolutes, but this is just true. You can't call yourself a good person when you are this judgmental.
Then I sincerely hope you don't consider yourself a good person either...

As for me... I've been broken from the start. Even I know that.

Well.
Let me say it this way: She is obviously stupid for answering like that.
However, it was a beauty pagant so why do they even ask a politcal question in the first place?
So while I don't agree with her views, I don't understand why she should be punished for being truthful and stupid.
