Person 1: Farcry2 is awesome b/c of the freedom I'm allowed in the missions and the massive amount of enemies that want to kill me.
Person 2: Farcry2 is a pile of elephant turds because it is unplayable, everyone wants you dead and the guns can't kill anything.
My main complaint about Far Cry 2 is the damn enemies respawning the instant you step about 20 yards from their camp.
In the PC version that doesn't seem to happen on hardcore... maybe the consoles are different? Other than being able to save whenever you want, where-ever you want. I just stopped driving through guard points when I realized that the game rewards you diamonds by find your own route off the beaten path.

Whatever happened to fun? Now it's "UR NOTA GAMERUFAG CUZ YA DONT PLY MW2!" because of a game they like. Who bloody cares? I hate MMO's, but if they like them let 'em why do we have to label them? I'm one of those FPS players you hear on the news for not getting enough sun... :C for stabbing people in the eye for sniping me in bad company 2!! YEAH MANLY!

OT: Seriously I play fps games and am just there to have fun, don't care about my score, just want to kill and have fun. MMO players are fine if not a bit obsessive with their games sometimes.
These opinions have always existed. Before it was:
Your not a gamer...
...if you play on easy.
...if you haven't played [insert game title(s)]
...if you cheat or grief
...if you don't cheat or don't grief
...if you use [insert game weapon(s)] or [insert tactic or strategy]
...if you don't use [insert tactic or strategy] or don't use [insert game weapon(s)]
...etc.
My question is why do we care about other peoples gaming quality or whatever?

Why are so many people striving to label everyone? Sure there's annoyances in games like noobtubers or whatever that basically deserve to be called that as it's just basically them trying to annoy (I've seen it). But now people are just being ridiclious.

I got called a noob because I use the spaz shotgun in MW2, so okay I thought, I switched to the AA12, I got called a noob again. So do I have to submit 3 forms to each gamer...I'm sorry, game PLAYER because "Gamer" is an earned and prestigious title; in the lobby for verification and sign a non-noob clause before I use a shotgun? Or do I just sign up to "I don't give a flying fuck about what people label it, I'm here to have fun"
just don't say that while playing on the xbox... someone didn't like me calling people out on that stupidity and gave me some bad rep.... as if anyone actually cares about that thing.
Well as I said, or should have said. I don't care what people try to label me as, if they think the weapon is cheap, when it's not then it's general whining.

Err, I don't recall what difficulty I played on, but I'm allergic to dual-analog shooter controls, so I play all mine on my PC.

And there are plenty of diamond cases hidden in the guard posts too. I collected most of the diamonds in the game on my one playthrough.

you see, you can't play just one game and call yourself a gamer. Just the same way you cannot master 1 magic trick and then call yourself a magician.

OUCH!
But what if you play that game for quite a while and dedicate time into mastering your character?

And here I thought people played games to have fun..

No dude, we do it to be members of an elite group of "real" gamers. Our lives are meaningless unless we can achieve that status. Pfft... Fun.
I'm so behind... can someone teach me to be a 'real' gamer. Obviously I've been playing games wrong for so many years. I thought they were for fun.

Good job generalizing all the MMO players and all the MMO guilds.

I'd add something else to that sentence, but mods tend to be butthurt about personal attacks so I'll abstain.

There ain't such thing as a real gamer. If you play games, any games, you're a gamer.

I've never understood why WoW players get so serious and pissed about some stuff. If you lose, you lost some time spent doing it, and what else?
EVE is the only other MMO that I know is different, although I am sure there are others. Star Wars Galaxies used to have equipment decay, but it's gone now.
If you stand to lose nothing in-game I really don't see a lot of reason to get all pissed over it. Although I can certainly understand guilds/corps/or whatever your game calls them wanting players with a good head on their shoulders. In an MMO the people you play with help shape your gaming experience, playing regularly with a good group usually means a good game.
Now replace WoW with, say, MW2. Have you seen people rage over the tiniest issue while playing just about any FPS game? Yeah. Every time I approach a console multiplayer game, there's always that, unlike PC. People get pissed off over stupid reasons everywhere, games or real life.

Edit, unrelated: And if some people think MMO end game is somehow "easy", they're mistaken. It's no less hard then any other game. There's a reason some guilds push all the rules (although frankly, when I was into WoW, I stuck with small guilds with my friends)... You can't just butt in and go "Hay you guys!" boom headshot the boss when the rest of the raid are pants on head retarded. I find the whole resume thing rather silly, too, but it's at least one way of making sure the people you raid with are somewhat knowledgeable and experienced. End game raids in most MMOs tend to require a lot of organization and team work, and personal competence as well.
The generalization was aimed at the ones that do get pissed about minor stuff, not all of them. Some mis-wording on my part, but anyway....

I agree with most of what you're saying here anyway. Especially the ones who go into a frenzied rage over the happenings in a round of (name of FPS game here). Every game has them, those that take it too seriously.

Kinda like the video of that angry kid playing games that was floating around for a while. I don't remember exactly how to find it but it was pretty funny to see a kid damn near have an aneurysm over a video game like that.

Also, I never said any MMO was easy, it's just in some MMO's there is nothing to lose if you go all Leroy Jenkins other than time. If all you lose is time (and that's what you're doing in an MMO, spending time) I find it hard to justify the rage some people express over lost time.

I guess my overall point is that to me, a game is a game, not a job. I'm not going to treat it like one, because that's when I cease to enjoy it.

the fact that it's just one game doesn't change.
just like i said before, if i learnt a card trick and i practiced it for hours/days until i had COMPLETELY mastered it so that not even a keen observer could see how it was done, i have learnt a really neat trick. But that doesn't make me an illusionist, it makes me someone who knows a cool trick.
The same thing applies to being a gamer, if the first and pretty much only game you've played is wow (not counting brief periods at ur mates or things like solitare) then you are a wow player, not a gamer.
the principal can be extended to include people who have only gamed inside a particular genre, (mmo, racing, fps, ect) take flight simulator games for example. If you play every flight simulator game ever made for hours each day but no games from any other genre, and someone asks you what your hobbie is you would, if you were being accurate say "i play flight simulators" not "i play video games". it's still like the card tricks, if you learnt a bunch of card tricks people still wouldn't call you a magician, they would call you the guy who does card tricks. See my point?
sorry it took so long to answer, I'v been swamped.
