World of Warcraft is not the only MMORPG on the market, and not everyone play MMORPGs the same way.

That's all I have to say on the subject, really.

Yeah, as other people have pointed out, games are supposed to be fun. In that sense it doesn't matter weather you're playing CoD or WoW or Pokemon. If you, personally, don't have fun playing mmorpgs, then don't play them; leave it the people who like them.

Person 1: Farcry2 is awesome b/c of the freedom I'm allowed in the missions and the massive amount of enemies that want to kill me.
Person 2: Farcry2 is a pile of elephant turds because it is unplayable, everyone wants you dead and the guns can't kill anything.
My main complaint about Far Cry 2 is the damn enemies respawning the instant you step about 20 yards from their camp.

What's so special about being a "real" gamer or not being a "real" gamer?
This. I'm tired of hearing terms like "hard-core gamer" "casual gamer" and "real" gamer. Its just fucking stupid at this point.

The way I see it is, if someone plays games, they are a gamer.

Well they kinda are, but don't be disturbed by that minor fact. Just continue with wasting time on stupid theories.

mmorpgs are too demanding
No, they aren't. They only appear demanding because you get back what you are willing to put into them. Personally myself, I've played virtually every MMO that has hit the market the last decade, and I've had a degree of fun with most of them, but I'll move on when it seems like too much of a grind to level, I'm not having fun anymore, or just can't find some fun people to run with. I'll be honest; I played WoW the first year it was out. I played for two months, took a vacation, canceled my subscription and haven't even been tempted to go back.

By the way, you CoH players; what server? (I'm on Liberty)

There's no such thing as a "real gamer". You play a game, you're a gamer. Be it a casual, moderate or hardcore gamer you're still a gamer.

Huh... you know saying somebody is not a gamer just because what they play is a very quick way to lose friends and get banned around here.

Eh, I think that's an unfair conclusion. Based on my definition of a "casual gamer," people who only play MMOs would be casual gamers, despite how often they play, how good they are, or how powerful their character is. However, I do think a hardcore gamer can play an MMO: simply playing an MMO does not disqualify someone from being a hardcore gamer.

This is why I stopped raiding after BC, this and all of my guild that I raided in BC with quit. Unless I like mostly everyone (especially the officers), it's not exactly fun.

Now I just solo/play with small group of friends(That is if I were still playing wow, but thats what i'll be doing in TOR).

Who cares about killing sprees in CoD? You don't get the cool 'KILLING SPREE!' from Unreal, plus all CoD games sucked. Besides I used to play WoW and I could go 'I JUST HAD A 20 HORDE KILLING SPREE!' if I wanted to, but I didn't, as I'm not a hooting dick hole.
Your arguement is great until you went "all cod games sucked". Another sweeping generalisation to combat a sweeping generalisation isn't very productive. I love CoD. I loved WoW. Both appealed to different aspects of skill for me as a gamer. In wow i found it very fun playing my role was warrior tank and making sure i did my job efficiently. In Cod i enjoy mastering the skills and playing competitively against other players like i couldnt in wow becuase gear = win every single time. Killing sprees are a fun part of CoD, feeling like a god killing people on THE SAME FOOTING as you with nothing but SKILL instead of GEAR ahead of them. Lets you know your a gamer not a grinder. Wow pvp has no boasting value ever. You won because of gear. End. I think PVE is the main and best part of wow to focus on, playing in a team together with the reliance on your friends was the best part for me.

Thats not nessesarily true.
I have done some html, does this make me a programmer?
i have installed devices such as VCR's and DVD players, does that make me a technition?
i Swim occasionally during summer, am i a swimmer?
You have to be careful as to where you draw the line.

So you say the group of people who cumulatively spend probably the most time and money playing a video game are not gamers? Ok, I just wanted to make sure.

Side note, this may not be the best place to say this but I think "true" gamers are some of the lamest people that exist. Not because they play games but because they think they are somehow superior to other people who play games.

Do you enjoy video games and play them at least occasionally? Ok, you are a gamer. That's about it. Some gamers might spend a lot more time, have shinier toys, more money to spend or faster twitch reflexes but we're all still just gamers.

Now, I will admit some gamers are better than others but that doesn't change the definition so much as the rank. What do you call the guy who graduates at the bottom of his class from Medical School? Doctor.

Okay, this is silly. I think its funny that you don't think that MMO's are actual games. They are just different kinds of games, genres even.

I play MMO's the way I play my games on the Xbox 360, Ps2, Wii, and other computer games...
I'm NICE (Thousands devastated, new world crisis)

Oh, and it doesn't seem like MMO's are your type of game if you think Call of Duty is really fun. Those two are completely different types. Some people are serious playing MMO's and some are tools, but there on other games as well, and there are some really nice people on any type.

Oh, and World of Warcraft has the fewest amount of nice people on it. I suggest Dungeons and Dragons Online, many nice people, very full game with decent story and still really fun.
