Modern warfare 2: "Gaz" and "Ghost"

At the end of COD4 you get a photo with Sgt. Vasquez, Gaz, that black guy and Capt. Price in it. All the characters in the photo are dead. Sorry.

Captain Price is a recurring character in CoD despite decades between settings. So it's no surprise that he'd be there. Gaz can't possibly be back, so possibly a flashback mission?

It's actually Lt. Vasquez, and the black guy is Ssgt. Griggs. I don't think Price will be back either, the in-game footage doesn't suggest he's your commander anymore...

Whether he survives or not, soap will take over for captain price's epicness.

I completley agree on the second one. i think after yo are lifted with kamarov one of those rare things happen where gazz will survive

Sorry, I don't think what I wrote was what I meant to say. I know Soap is Cpt. now, but he's moved to a different unit (I forget what it's called), so you could still have them team up with their squads or something like that.

Price may have actually survived. It was hinted that he survived since there was a medic working on him. Even the Call of Duty Wiki belives that he survived.

Because I can guarantee you that the guy who designed that cutscene did not expect him to survive.

It's a IW in joke that Ctp. Price comes back no matter what happens. In CoD1 he has badly injured in Austria, after which he travels back in time and heals himself, for which he gets transferred to the SAS and promoted to captain. Then he dies onboard of the Tirpitz, after which he resurrects himself, stays in stasis for about 70 years and rejoins the SAS at his current rank. I wouldn't be surprised if he wakes up in a morgue again and asks "where do i get promoted to now".

I thought the black guy was Vasquez.

Could be Gaz in his youth, his evil twin brother, a homage, a tongue in cheek swipe at how Americans can't tell the difference in accents with Britons?

Maybe he's just that damn tough. Or maybe ghost is an actual ghost. Bit of a break with the realistic setting I know, but ghost SAS people? HELL YES.

Never played Deus ex, but I'm fairly sure a bullet in the head would kill him. Is there something I'm missing here?

Yes. A lot. Deus ex machina does not reffer the the game Deus ex, rather it reffers to the phenomina wherein a highly unlikely and often unexplained event occurs in order to help a particular character. Like say Gaz being alive somehow. More or less it would mean Gaz is alive (assuming that he is) because the writers fucking say so, now deal with it. Keep in mind that the prior statement was used as an example not a means of insulting you.
