Modern warfare 2: "Gaz" and "Ghost"

So for a while we all debated whether Gaz was Ghost and then gave up, apparently.

Anyway, at the beginning of COD4 it was established that Gaz, despite having no rank given was likely Captain Price's right-hand man or at least one of the more senior.

If that's the case, why does Captain "Soap" seem to be in charge in MW2?

I miss Gaz he's so effing cool. I could see Ghost being an excuse to bring back a Gaz like character but maybe reveal he's his twin brother or something.

Soap is in the new COD, sorry to say but Captain Price did die, Soap takes Captain Prices place as Captain. I know people will ***** at me for saying hey man spoiler that and yada yada yada well I don't know how to do that so shut up.

I found out about Soap's new position in OXM just thought I'd state my source to back it up.

As for this ghost and gaz thing, well it doesnt reveal them to be the same person. but it would be a nice twist if it turned out that gaz only got shot in the mouth and he wears the ghost balaclava to hide his scars

Cappy Price is alive. There are no flashbacks that tell us who Ghost is. None of his story is told. I'm guessing they are leaving it to the comics for that one.

And, this is fact. I got the game today and whizzed through the campaign.

I remember a speculation that Gaz survived the shot to the face but got horribly deformed and that's what the mask is for. I know, stupid, but it could be true.

Gaz is deffo dead, Price though? Oh I think he's still alive....

EDIT:

Price will be in MW2, it has already been announced. And he has been in every IW CoD anyway. MW2 is set 5 years after the events of MW1, giving Price enough time to recover.

And for Ghost, he is a british SAS Sergeant called Simon Riley.

Where in Christ's name did you get hold of that little nugget of information?

Both Ghost in Modern Warfare 2 and Gaz are voiced by the same guy. Plus, Captain Price is in prison in Russia when you rescue him in the second game.

I reckon they're not the same person, but that the 'Lieutenant Riley' (the 'baddest ************' he ever knew) who Ghost wears his skull mask and glasses for is Gaz.

Cpt Price is Prisoner #627, he punches you out, points an AK at your face, then Cpt MacTavish A.K.A Soap, points the same M1911 .45 price slides over to you in the end of CoD4:MW to his head

MacTavish: Drop it!
Price: Soap?
MacTavish: I believe this is yours sir.

Soap hands over the M1911 .45 and they run, as for ghost being Gaz, it doesn't really matter anymore, because both he and Roach (main protagonist) get shot with a .44 magnum and then burn'd alive
