It lost it's charm because of several poor design choices on IW's part. These include, but are not limited to:

1) Shotguns becoming secondary weapons. Now every noob and their brother sits in a corner with a Shotgun like the scrubs they are.

2) Care Package AC130/Chopper Gunner. The guy has 5 fucking kills, but hey, Merry Christmas noob! Here's a free 11 kill streak for you!

3) Being shot around corners. There's some bug in the net code that wasn't present in CoD4/WaW that causes slight lag, which leads to you being shot around corners relatively often. Ever gone "WTF I totally got to cover in time!"? Well, this is why you died.

4) Knife class. Do I even need to explain? God I hate these no-skill pricks.

I haven't lost interest in the game. I've just been busy with Mass Effect. I'm trying to finish up my last playthrough.

I was playing the original COD4 for months before I finally got tired of it. I installed MW2 about a week ago and I'm already tired of it. I don't know why, it's a huge mystery to me. I used to be amazing on Hardcore multiplayer modes, and now I can barely have a 1:1 score. I hate the maps, and I hate the varied killstreaks. I haven't been able to play the SpecOps with a friend yet, but playing it single player was fun at first, and I thought the campaign was surprisingly fun. But the multiplayer, being the obvious main focus of the game, is lacking when compared the first one. I think I might reinstall COD4, actually.

weird, i thought the charm of MW2 threads was over but they keep coming back!

well, allow me to say OP: everyone is entitled to their oppinion, but i dont really think any game can lose its charm, either you like it or not

IMHO

It was bought for me so I decided to give the franchise another go to see if I could get into it. I cleared it in under two hours played one spec ops mission a few rounds of online and traded it for Assassins Creed 2. The only thing I liked about it was the ending and the night vision goggles that came with it

It's called lag.

The "new code" is actually a removal of the server browser and dedicated server support.

After playing it it feels too much like Cod 4 bar not so many people online use acog snipers up close(anotying when over half both teams use them)
all in all it's just too similar to make me believe i'm enjoying a new game
people complain that's nothing like COD 4 then people complain its to much to like COD4... seriously what do ya want? (not flaming you here, it just in general ha)

and for the person who complained about the AC130, seriously, there is a thing called rockets...use them.

personally i like the game, its much better than COD4, and i find the weapons (apart from dual wielding shotguns and subs) balanced. whoever said the rifles are to over powered, that's because they are rifles and usually are better than subs, pistols, shotguns, and sometimes even LMGS, simply because they are lighter and dont rely on spraying bullets everywhere.

pretty much every point made bad about this game i find wrong (apart from a select few), although people are entitled to opinions and i respect some points, although most are people just saying balance this and balance that.

sorry for the long paragraph, just needed all that off ma chest =)

I still play the multiplayer on occasion, but I keep going back to COD4 because its just, well, better. And for some reason MW2 got me back into Goldeneye... go figure.

Depends who you ask. My brother seems to love the game to death and plays it for as long as he can.

I'm talking about the 360 version, where there have never been dedicated servers.

Nominated as Best Post Ever.
Why thank you!

I thought it may have been too oblique.

I was trying to say 'less is more'.
Well, I thought it was both smart and funny, while at the same time taking a good jab at the so-called "balance" of MW2's multiplayer. The "less is more" part also makes sense, but that wasnt my first thought.

Anyways, you win an:

Woop!

Yep, they added too many stones and it unbalanced the wall so it became one big broken mess.

Yeah, I'm starting to get bored with MW2 too. After getting my first nuke, it just feels.... Meh.

I'm actually really looking forward to Splinter Cell, it should make a really nice change.

I finished the campaign on hardened.. did about half the spec ops missions in veteran (but have hit a full stop due to overall difficulty and we've decided that we're not doing any of the missions unless in veteran), started the main campaign on veteran but by the time i reached the mission in the flavela i had lost all love for the story...
then to multiplayer, i enjoyed it at first... i got a super kill streak that recindled my love for the multiplayer.. but recently ive been thinking that the multiplayer isnt as good as modern warfare 1 because of all the additions just being cheap and not very 'call of duty-ish'. so i've decided to denounce the multiplayer as un-fun due to akimbo shotguns, tactical insertion and the unholy 'witch' class... knifing s.o.b's
so.. yes.. i think it has very much lost its charm =P

Since when did MW 2 have charm (predictable joke)?

Actually I agree completely, but more in the sense that I loved CoD4 a lot but MW 2 doesn't feel the same at all.
