I'd play with you, but since it uses peer-to-peer instead of dedicated servers, someone's going to lag like all hell, and it wouldn't be fun :(
I've had Ollie to play with, I wasn't totally alone. I'm really not sure if I like it, I loved it this morning but as you said with more playtime you see the faults.

I happened to not really be affected by the MW2 multiplayer curse. This may be due to my five year Counter-Strike addiction killing off any love I had for multiplayer. This article does however, accurately describe my flatmate at university completely.

So true. I have actually done this, in that order.

Although you forgot mythering parents on that list too.

Recently ive gone back to MW2 (after putting my foot through a door after trying PvP on ST:O - Which is the most broken unbalanced experience ive ever had the misfortune of playing), and ive come up against a whole new problem. I was a rank 54, no prestige, And it was matching me with virg...Sorry, "Hardcore Gamers" - Im a better gamer than your average guy, but against people that havent seen sunlight since the games release, I dont stand a chance.

Im 4,000,000 ish, in the rankings, SURELY[/I] there must be people around my level to game with?!?
you think that's bad? Try living next to the guy who's ranked 55th.
He's actually not a nerd, he is just badass at videogames. His secret is high sensitivity.

You left out 4th perk hacking.

Its for this reason I refuse to play anymore, and IW has said nothing about fixing it.

This is exactly how I feel whenever I play online. On rare occasions, I'll do alright, but then the failing comes again to send me into a rage. It's fun for local multiplayer, but whenever I play online, I'm doing a serious risk to my blood pressure.

I play MW2 all the time and never get angry, but that might have something to do with not sucking, oh and before you say something about cheetos and basements I'm a lifeguard and spend more around women than you, unless you are a woman than you got me beat.
Awe now why'd you have to ruin a good funny story with something so absolutely necessary. It looks like you might be taking this a little too seriously there buddy

Very true! MW2 is often lots of fun in mercenary deathmatches but often it just fucks you over. I especially hate the whole watching a kill cam and seeing that you don't even shoot, and the whole enemy misses by a mile but you take a headshot. Knifing I don't hate quite as much but every now and then it's a total WTF!

I've been playing Bad Company 2 and it's a little less rage inducing. Knifing isn't even close to as cheap - in fact a few times I could swear I knifed a guy but got killed. Although yesterday somehow I was dying a lot by people who seemed to be sniping with assault rifles and SMGs - don't know how they were so damn accurate but I was dead before I knew I was being shot at.

In both games I really wish they could do proper pairings, since BC2 is newer it's not quite as bad with people only on maybe 1st or a few on 2nd veteran (prestige), but in MW2 every now and then I get in a game with the entire other team on 3rd or 4th or however many prestiges, a few have that skull icon so the last prestige lvl 70. And here I am lvl 62 I think, no prestiges... It's like yea, ok, this will be fun. NOT.

I believe I speak for everyone here when I quote Yahtzee "I don't like playing multiplayer unless I can reach over and smack my friend upside the head."

I think it depends far more on the game that you're playing. The last time I seriously played multiplayer (ie more than 2 hours at a time) was with Battlefield Vietnam. I never got pissed when someone sent a guided missile into my plane, or any other somewhat OP thing. It was just good fun.
Granted, I haven't played MW2 (nor will I), so I can't judge that. But maybe the presence of some more, erm, vocal kids online in addition to voice chat can result in massive rage...

MW2 can be pretty fun if you have mix up your loadouts, game types, and play with a few buddies and hey at least they patched some things... but yeah I have a few rage inducing games. Then again I might be causing some of this rage because I have one class which makes use of noob tube and the tactical knife with danger close, martyrdom, and commando perks.

Yeah... this and more is why I never play MW2. So many bad mechanics and weapon perks that are just pure upgrades that don't have any negative impact on the player make the game so imbalanced that any half way decent player that uses cheap camping mechanics will give his team victory 99% of the time. If they include a Nuke in the next game, I will never touch any of the games EVER again.

Played MW2 multiplayer for only a short amount of time.

Didn't enjoy it so I quit before I could start to rage.

Am I the only person in the world who enjoys MW2? Don't get me wrong, it has it's fair share of issues but the game is hardly broken.

The kicker for the PC version is likely to suffer the same problems. (I can't be arsed to download the Free Weekend, and I doubt it will run on my ye olde PC).

Hahahaha, to be honest, replace the 'photo' of Pro-5nipez665 with a photo of my roommate, and it's golden!

But yea, I agree on these points for Modern Warfare 2. Stopped playing it awhile ago, haven't really had an urge to until now, strangely...

And it's for this reason that I think Team Fortress 2 is one of the most fun and well balanced MP games out there. (PS3 version, especially, since too many **** nuggets have hacked the fuck out of the 360 version). No perks. No picking up other people's weapons. Just plain, straight up fun based on your class. And each class has it's strengths and weaknesses. Heavies fall to Spys. Spys fall to Pyros. Pyros fall to Soldiers. Medics fall to a stiff breeze. Well balanced!

Sure, there are still some frustrating moments but NOTHING like that those found in MW or MW2.

And GTA IV in Free Mode with Friendly Fire is fantastic as well! Go on! Have a deathmatch when it's dang near impossible (but NOT impossible) to kill someone! The only thing unbalanced about any GTA IV online mode is having auto aim turned on. That's a true Pussy Mode for sure!!!

Yes, MW2 made me angry, but multiplayer had very little to do with it. See, as I had played MW before, I knew what was in store for me in that online hell, so I bought BC2 for multiplayer fun instead.

MW2 I got for the single player campaign, which I was expecting to be as good as, if not better than, the first game.

How wrong I was... the interesting bits n the trailer turbed out to be parts where you don't actually play any more than you watch, and well... I think enough's been said about the campaign for people to know why it sucks.

And that is why MW2 made me angry.

3. Host advantage/lag is a bigger issue than in other games.
So true, I only played the multiplayer once and I became host for some reason. Cue 3 solid minutes of people shouting at me, telling me to fuck off and just generally insulting me for causing them to lag. I didn't even know what was going on and I don't have a mic so it was a while before I asked them what was wrong.

I had to leave, in short. That was my second ever match. I haven't played since.
