I never had a lot of problems like that except for the Akimbo models. On a whole MW2's multiplayer is just kinda mediocre. I'm glad I own Battlefield Bad Company 2. It's a better game with much better multiplayer.

I have played MW2 a bit, level 60 odd with no prestige. I have been wound up but not to "our hero's" level of anger.

I might let out a mumble of anger but I have never raged at my tv or starting calling names out loud. I have thought "noob" a few times after being noob tubed/shotgunned/tele knifed for the 6th or 7th time.

If people are raging this hard they need to go outside or do something else, high blood pressure from gaming is a little extreme.

This is why I play Hardcore Search and Destroy. It's Counter-Strike formula, so it solves most of these issues.

This is why I don't like the COD series. Granted I only played MW2 at my friends house for a two day sleep over and I only borrowed COD:MW for a few weeks, these situations (minus the ones about the killstreaks as long as we're talking about COD:MW) are relatively common. Now normally here is when I would start my rant about Bad Company 2 is better but I'd rather not into it at the moment, as my respawn-timer is over.

I do get incredibly angry at MW2. Not angry at players' strategies, just rage in general. How anybody can get any killstreaks on it is beyond me. Everytime I spawn, I die. I have my moments where I dominate a match, my best being thirty-five kills without dying. Other than those special times, I spend my moments bumbling around being used as target practice. Somehow, unless I'm using a Barrett .50 without any scope modifications, I won't get any kills. It sucks.

Yeah, I've noticed recently that even though my connection bar is full, I still lag somewhat and it is VERY annoying. It also seems like every time there is a harrier or other form of air death from the enemy team, I always respawn in the most open area possible, and die within 5 seconds, before I can even get inside.

I also seem to always, ALWAYS get teamed up with the worst people, while everyone on the other team is "L33T". The teams aren't balanced well at all.

MY TEAM:

Me ---------------- lvl 67 (none) -------------- 18 kills 14 deaths
#1 ---------------- lvl 22 (none) -------------- 12 kills 20 deaths
#2 ---------------- lvl 37 (none) -------------- 11 kills 16 deaths
#3 ---------------- lvl 12 (1st prestige) ------ 7 kills 4 deaths
#4 ---------------- lvl 26 (none) -------------- 1 kill 15 deaths

OTHER TEAM:

#1 ---------------- lvl 44 (3rd prestige) ------ 37 kills 2 deaths
#2 ---------------- lvl 51 (7th prestige) ------ 30 kills 10 deaths
#3 ---------------- lvl 70 (10th prestige) ----- 25 kills 8 deaths
#4 ---------------- lvl 70 (10th prestige) ----- 23 kills 11 deaths
#5 ---------------- lvl 62 (3rd prestige) ------ 13 kills 4 deaths

Yes, this kind of game has happened to me many times. Very rage-inducing.

The game has made me angry in the past, but it has never reduced me to yelling profanities into the mic and deafening my poor teammates...

Overall, this was a good read! I agree with all of its points...
I also like how you poked fun of all gamers with xxxUB3R L33t W0L4Z LOLOLOLxxx as their name...
[small][sub]Seriously guys, find something more original and less obnoxious looking....[/sub][/small]

Oh boy, this, and add a load of cheaters and hackers and randomly crashing servers for the PC version. And even more horrendous lag despite a nearly 2500 euro gaming computer. Oh yes, truly the best shooter of the year.

So very true it's not even funny. You'll never guess how I got a nuke for the first time. I sat around in the piss middle of no where with no support sniping w/ thermal scope the other team on Wasteland. Seven kills netted me a harrier, which got me an AC-130, which got me within three kills of the nuke.

Perks are screwy.
Weapon mods are screwy- the worst offenders are the thermal scope, heartbeat sensor and akimbo anything
Maps are screwy.
Many weapons are simply imbalanced.

If nothing else the game needs a weight profile system. Snipers shouldn't get shotguns and akimbo machine pistols. People running around with assault rifles (*cough* ACR) that are as accurate as sniper rifles shouldn't also get something that dominates in the close range. I don't even think it's feasible for someone to lug both an MG and, say, a javelin around.

Another think that's always irked me is the shotgun mods. Someone explain to me why steady aim and fore grips would make the cone of fire more narrow? Does it magically extend the barrel of the shotgun, or change the shell?

Even just weapons aside there's always someone who's either playing bad or has a genuine reason for cranking out a meek 1 kill to 13 deaths. Sometimes it's their first game. Most of the time they're just lagging.

Non-dedicated servers are a bloody joke. If Infinity Ward really feels that it helps open up the game for new comers (never mind that all their arguments got debunked with google searches.)they should have just seen what happens when they have both non dedicated servers and dedicated servers. I for one would like to play with a steady crowd of people once in a while rather than god knows who. Oh, and the rule sets are nice. People don't use scrub kits when they're threatened with bans over it.

But most of all it's the lag. One in 8 games I join invariably start to lag because of the host migration system. Its a nice idea, but its implemented horribly, and what's more, I have to just keep remembering that if it weren't for the removal of dedicated servers they wouldn't even be necessary. Another 4 or so games in 8 just lag. It's playable, but sometimes it means some kits are not useable. I have to build kits interchangeably most of the time- my sniper kit doubles as a restricted range knifing kit.

Hey, you can use your SMG or automatic rifle as efficiently as you want, but at the end of the day the akimbo shotgun runner on the other team is doing better than you. And blowing your arse of with killstreaks.

I agree with everything the OP said. To be quite honest, I hate online multiplayer and Yahtzee uses the very avid description of calling it a "monkey house". I've never really found online play that I've thoroughly enjoyed and have barely or never raged at.

The biggest issue:

IT IS A DAMN SKINNER BOX!

That is why he doesn't just leave it for something else... it has all the the virtual Skinner box mechanics that trap MMO players in a endless cycle of grinding. No matter who you are, it gets it's hooks into you by offering virtual rewards that encourage you to go for even more virtual rewards.... Then you give all that way, for a pretty little icon.

I know, I'm a damn mouse in that stupid box. If it wasn't for the fact I have been playing FPS since doom era I would find MW2 so frustrating indeed. As it stands a little bit of fore-sight and a good tent is all you need.

Now if 10% of my deaths where not from sprinting around, bunny hopping, 100% head-shotting pieces of 'downloadable skilled' shit heads. I can forgive the other 10% which are TKs, but people who shoot you through walls or with a pistol from across the map when they where facing away from you make me 'rage quit' every time.

Though I see it more as 'shaking my head in pity' quitting.

So true. I have actually done this, in that order.

Although you forgot mythering parents on that list too.

I think the best line i can think of to do with CoD is this:

Its so true, So VERY true. And IRL Distractions are the bane of every gamers life.

It's kind of funny, I hear people complaining about how terrible the multiplayer in Modern Warfare 2 is, but I've never experienced any real problems, other than occasional lag the few times I played on the ps3. I rarely get angry at multiplayer games, because there isn't that much penalty for not doing well, and, at least in my opinion, it's only about having fun.

A good summary of the rage-inspiring problems plaguing MW2. I myself never quite raged, as I usually quite out of frustration first, but looking back I can say that I have a much more pleasant and entertaining time playing Bad Company 2.

Well I was an avid Gears player before Modern Warfare 2 came out and comparatively MW2 makes me much less angry.
Number 1 annoys me occasionally but I don't mind I just switch to either a class with cold blooded or take out the Chopper and move in with the game, usually meaning I get 1 maybe 2 deaths from air support maximum.
Again from my Gears experience camping has never really gotten to me, after playing game after game of entire 5 man teams hiding in a bunker with grenades planted on doors and shotguns around the corner one guy with a noobtube won't bother me, I can just sneak up on him and lob one right back.
Talk to any Gears player about number 3. They will laugh in your face and tell you that you have no idea what host advantage is. This has actually been tested against an enemy standing still, the host of the game has a much more powerful shotgun than everyone else and as the luxury of 1-shotting somebody with hit at ~20% more range; and even they don't get a 1 shot kill, they get more damage than the non-host. SO if you end up 1 on 1 against the host, you're doomed.
As for number 4, 1 hit anywhere on the body with a torque bow = death. Boomshot, you shoot near somebody, they're dead.

Yeah you Call of Duty players have got it easy.
Oh, man I was going to say all of this! Dang, I agree wholeheartedly. I find MW2 to be way to freaking easy, so I switched back to other games.

On another hand I have a really big complaint about the whole "unfair perks" argument. I run cold-blooded and ninja on 90% of my classes and a random first perk depending on what gun I'm using. Yes, I get annoyed with commando knifer's but I always manage to go positive. If you can't deal with those people, why don't you do what they're doing? I mean come on! If someone is sniping your teammate, why don't you just go kill the guy?! If you can't well then maybe there's a reason he's doing so well. I play with my roommates and together we race to 20 kills on most maps. Typically I don't really care how many I get as long as I go positive. However, I would have to say, camping is a problem and that won't be dealt with due to the gameplay. Overall, do I find this game to be incredibly overrated, yes. But it's fun to play with friends and majorly easy to own at, so take a break from whining and put in another game if you get that pissed off.

Luckily I'm in the utterly crap camp (don't own the game, just play it at friends) and thus don't play it often, so I never rage. Plus I usually have a couple of beers and smokes so I'm pretty chilled.
