I'm actually getting sick of it. I like enjoying my games, so I'm slowly giving up MW2.
Just hit level 70 for the second time and I can safely say a couple more days and that's it for me. I don't enjoy it any more, it's more just a kind of tense compulsion to keep getting better.

Sadly, I have to accept I'll just never be as good as some of the 24/7 uber nerds who devote thier entire lives to it.

Interesting theory...

I'll try it next time.

Deep breath and 'OK motherfuckers... you wanna piece of me...'

EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS TO ME

I'm not joking right now. Someone on the enemy team got a Harrier, the actual air strike killed me, and I kept spawning IN THE SAME SPOT WHERE THE HARRIER COULD KILL ME
It was such bullshit. I swear the respawn system thingy in that game likes to fuck with people.
Ever notice how it seems to spawn you outside more often when there's harriers or AC130s about?

The best is spawning into a game with 6 second to go and all you get time to do is die to an air strike and record a loss.

Thank you :)

Glad people are enjoying my light hearted poke at MW2.

I never understand the headset warriors, it's only a game. If they don't enjoy it, they have the ability to leave the game. I used to get angry but I've gotten used to the learning curve now and aren't as dreadful as I was when I began playing

That was kind of one of the points I was making... wondering why despite the rage and stress it causes people, they keep going back to it for more punishment.

I am guilty of it myself, too.

Usually there will be two or three games a night where I do really well, come first or whatever. They're the games that give you that drug-rush and make you want to keep playing and repeat it.

Holy shit, never thought the thread would be this big. Apparently we are still interested in MW2 despite the abundance of threads about it.

It's outdone my previous biggest thread by a 6:1 K:D... I mean... ratio.

EDIT: Sorry, double post... got a bit excited

SNIP

Yeah you Call of Duty players have got it easy.
I tried Gears 2 online once.

Never again.
It wasn't too bad when I played it, just the odd thing where it randomly wouldn't recognize my headset. I ran out and bought a new one, but it had the same problem. Therefore Gears 2 online actually cost me money, which is worse than anything you could pull out of your hat o' bad experiences playing Gears 2.

OT: Yup, besides host advantage which really only affected me once or twice, those are all the reasons I stopped playing MW2. Bad Company 2 is sooooooooo much better.

I don't understand all the rage and hate for the multiplayer, I mean there's never technically been a real "balanced" multiplayer game in the history of mankind, so why start bitching now?

In my eyes eveybody has their good days and their bad days. (And some have their Turtle Beaches and A-40s...)
There's TF2, half the reason it took so long to develop was because Valve was trying to make it balanced (and the other half was due to them starting the game over from scratch once they realized that what they had sucked). Halo's balanced, since you can always find a weapon to counter whoever's got the map's BFG. Besides, the BFGs never give huge advantages to their owners. Killstreaks, on the other hand, do. They make it near impossible for the other team to come back. Playing Conquest in BC2 earlier, the other team had all the flags, causing us to bleed respawn tickets, and we still won.
And don't get me started on Turtle Beaches. One thing I hate more than campers and killstreaks are the people who'd pay just to be better at the game, whether it's people running or joining 10th Prestige lobbies or people running out to waste hundreds of dollars on specialty headphones. Still, I'd like to be the CEO of Turtle Beach right about now.

Absolutely true. I wish it hadn't been so hyped and overrated. I switched over to Bad Company 2 and will not likely be switching back any time soon.

Reasons why people get mad at MW2:

There are lots of perks in that game which give the player MEGA ADVANTAGES. I've seen people fly from 10 feet away from me up to my face and stab me just cuz of commando perk (I do it too so guilty on me lol)

This game is the mother of all campers. I'll agree that lots of the maps are VERY OPEN AND CLAUSTROPHOBIC! The only way to tackle this is to do it yourself or have thermal to see those fuckers. I can't tell you how many times I've been sniped by a person hiding somewhere so obsolete that it's freaking necessary to have thermal.

Hackers are the bane of my existence. I swear I put 10 shells into a guy and I ended up dying instead. No one likes a hacker people!

Lag may be just as bad as hackers because it depends on the internet and the choice if it decides to work or not. I use the playstation network internet and about countless times I've lagged out of a game either at the beginning or near the end which that angers the hell outta me.

As a gamer used to small closed arenas, it is kinda hard to adapt to the open campground maps because in closed maps, you know where everyone will be and thats the killing zone. But in MW2, The killing zone switches so much that it's just not worth going to every 10 seconds and dying. And those AC130's dont help much when everyone is in a clusterfuck.

MW2 is not truly a bad game, it's just the "little packages" and how good you use them. But most of the time it's split-second timing and who shoots first. The only way to solve the split-second crisis is to get some AMP or MONSTER.

Dude... Turtle Beaches rock, they improved my experience with every game. You should hear the crack of Ol' Painless or the screams of a Necromorph through a set of those babies...

And they didn't cost me hundreds, they cost 70 Euros!

Is BC2 really that good? I've heard mixed reports. A lot of people complain that the controls feel awkward and clunky compared to COD.

And welcome to the Escapist, may you enjoy your stay :)

meh, shit happens.

but seriously, lag and camping is new to "Pro-5nipez665"? that doesn't make any sense, unless he is absolutely new to all multiplayers in existence.
Believe it or note, both Lag and Camping are largely inapplicable to BC2. I don't mean to shamelessly plug the game, but I'm just saying, camping in a corner becomes far more difficult when you can simply remove the corner. ;)

Granted, you may come across it once or twice, but it's a surprisingly rare occurrence.

OT: You really hit the nail on the head OP, excellent job. I can't agree more with your point on lag. Thank's to IW's refusal to include dedicated servers, I had perpetual lag that only served to enrage me further.

Also, has anyone else noticed that the game's framerate actually starts dropping in 4-player splitscreen? Very annoying for hanging out with buddies.

Note: Fantastic prose by the way.
lag is a really big problem for me in BC2, as i seem to chronically disconnect from the servers.
Also, Isla innocente and a lot of other Rush maps are great places for snipers to spawn camp

Same here, I still get frustrated by it when I'm doing well.

By good do you mean 'go positive in most matches' or 'have a 4.1 K:D' ratio and almost every game'?

Lag. How I hate it.
The ammount of times I've emptied entire 100 round LMG mags into someone, only for me to end up dead is rediculous.

Airsupport - I used to think it was overpowered in ModWar 1.

Commando - is too good. Commando pro, is very useful, jumping off high stuff - but lightweight and commando - FFS, often I've shot the guy enough times to kill him, yet I die.

Camping - well, I've seen worse camping in BC2 than CoD - but then again, in BC2, you can pretty much destroy any camping spot. Such as lobbing a 120mm shell through the walls of a house...

I've switched to playing BC2 for now. Often, I can have an awful K/D ratio in a game (16-3 in one). But, I don't mind it as much as in CoD. Probably because of the bigger games.
I'm happy I've got BC2, and got 2 mates ot join me on it.
The only good thing I can find in CoD is the weapon selection. If only they'd made a certain LSW as accurate as it is in RL...

The solution is so simple too... bullets have knockback power, like in real life.

I know MW2 isn't realistic in general but come on... someone knife lunging you through a hail of bullets? Fuck that. They should be stopped in thier tracks when shot.

You forgot the part where our hero decided to try a shield, only to be knifed and shot through the middle of it.

I honestly believe marathon and lightweight(even when not used together) throw off bullet registration. Now, Im not bragging, but my aim is beautiful. I use a FAL, so theres pretty much no spread, and I shoot it fast enough(I get at least 2 messages every day asking how I got an automatic FAL). I can usually empty it before a guy empties his full auto gun. However, when someone is rushing me with either of those perks, nothing hits.

Do you use the red dot on the FAL? Because apparently its aim is off. I've noticed it a few times. The iron sights and holo are fine though.

I agree though... often when one of those marathon lightweight commando douchebags rushes me I could swear I shot them more than enough times to kill them yet I'm the one who gets killed.
