Hmm... Crazy idea, but just go with me here.

The new CoD is announced at E3 for November 2012 so they can put as much polish into it as possible, as they will be retiring the name afterword. Not only that, but the setting is in the near-ish future instead of the modern day.

Seriously though, there is no way that this will be polish-filled, and the last cod. They are going to ride this franchise into the goddamn ground to make as much profit as inhumanly possible. Hell, they already have.

Most of Infinity Ward(The one you remember as having made the quite excellent MW 1 and not as quite but still good MW2) has jumped ship. The new infinity ward has the same name, only they've hired new people who we have absoutly no idea of what their competence level is.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was filled with second-rate devs desperate for a job. I don't think any self-respecting developer would bother to work for infinity ward after the whole royalties scandal

That's if it's actually launching in 2011, which isn't yet confirmed.

Might as well be confirmed, the chances of the COD series skipping a yearly release are probably roughly on par with the chances of the U.S. being conquered by Switzerland this year

How is Ghost even a character? He's just an NPC with a goddamn mask on. He doesn't even have any dialogue beyond "RANDOM NPC STATEMENT!". Also he dies an unceremonious death, so who cares about him anymore.
That's like basing a game story around a Shy Guy.

I don't even know why I care. This game is going to be completely stupid in so many ways that the story is the least of the issues here.

A character gets a back story because he wore a painted mask and his only notable feat in the game was getting shot dead in front of the player and getting thrown into a pit.

Dungeon keeper that would be so awesome, I couldn't gives a rat's ass about modern warfare 3.
But isn't the new Dungeon Keeper like a MMO made by some Asian company now?
