Is it just me, or did MW2 have a really easy veteran mode? I have never been shot 3 times from about 10 feet away in the game and lived to tell about it. I like the game, and it's kinda nice having the frustration level so low but it just doesn't seem like veteran. I haven't threatened to strangle Infinity Ward's CEO the whole play through. Is it easier for anyone else?

I think it's because they got rid of infinite enemy respawns.

I have yet to do Veteran, but the campaign was rather easy on normal.

Though I did find two bits very challenging:

The smoke and mortars in the woods, and defending the house from the seige right after that.

Not looking forward to those parts on Veteran... still, they can't be worse than Mile High Club.

Haha, that was definitely the hardest veteran mission. The game is really short though.

I played it on Hardened, and "challenging" is an understatement. You must be on a whole other level ... well either that, or somehow staying 6 hours in line for the midnight launch after school and playing for 6 hours straight until I get ready for school has negative effects on my FPS skills... I'm inclined to think its former.

I was actually surprised too. Because every level on COD4 on veteran I'd die often, then MW2 I've managed to complete 50% with minimal deaths.

The only achievement that I don't have for COD4 is to beat that goddamn level on Veteran.

Dude if you beat 'Heat' you can beat Mile High CLub. Don't give up... it took me a madness inducing three hour session to do it... one minute mission, you can imagine how many times I died.

You just need to learn where the spawns are, get a pattern going and stick to it, and eventually you'll get very lucky and find yourself...

...shooting the hostage and restarting....

I did it on regular first run through just to finish it before I dove into co-op and multi. Been doing co-op all on veteran, and shit gets pretty hectic. Every time you get shot you face decides to check out the clouds, which is probably realistic I guess, but it's fucking frustrating.

I JUST WANT TO RAMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I finished the campaign in Veteran, and while I wouldn't say it was super hard, it wasn't a cake walk either. Had a few rough spots, but nothing I struggled with. The Spec Ops missions on Co-Op aren't too bad either, but hectic fun.

it must be the infinite respawns that made veteran so hard on the othr games. i haven't started on veteran yet but if it's not too difficult then that must be why.

I'm currently playing on Hardcore, it seems to be a good difficulty level to start off at. I did replay the first act on Normal because the trophy system started off a bit funky, it was far too easy, I was just Ramboing it.
I dunno, I don't think I'm gonna find Veteran that easy, I haven't got stuck many times on Hardcore but I can see bits that are likely to frustrate on Veteran and I also had a hard time trying to shoot down that chopper in the oil rig mission. I actually just went to bed in the end, I'll probably have no trouble with it next time I play as that often seems to be the case.

Just look up a youtube video on how to do it, it only took me like 15-20 minutes to get.

Infinite spawns and fast regenerating health are opposites and are balanced when both are used.
CoD2 had respawning enemies without regenerating health and was insanely hard because of the limited availability of medkits and this game is the exact opposite, too easy because the enemies aren't there to compensate for what is basically unlimited health.(if a section is too hard just stay back and let your allies kill everything)

Worst part for me is that I always seemd to run into scenarios where every enemy in the section was armed with either auto shotguns or P90's

TO HELL WITH THE P90!!!

That would suck. To make it all the way through, not dying once then BAM! Shot the hostage.

I'd probably throw my controller at the Xbox, then kill myself.

I also want this person to die.

They told us MW2 was going to be more balanced.

And I don't care if it's a deathstreak, Martyrdom still sucks.

Don't get me wrong, the multiplayer is fantastic and a hugestep up from COD4... it just still has some balancing issues.

And some seriously fucking awful hit detection.

I'm starting it on Vet soon and I'm wondering what tactic you used for defending the lodge from the siege of enemies trying to shoot up the hard drive thingy?

That was the only mission bit I found tough on normal, it seemed like a very sudden difficulty spike.
