Good job modders, way to fix a problem that shouldn't have existed in the first place. I'm still not buying the game, but I am glad to see that this shines some hope on the PC gamers who wanted to play this game how it was meant to be played. No matter why IW and Activision try to pull, the modders/crackers will be there to counter it.

Well that was fast. Just to put this on the table had anyone considered that maybe there are no dedicated servers for the slight chance of this being a first step somehow of merging pc and consoles to all be able to run multiplayer together? i dunno. Advantage...anyone with a mouse.

I'm quite surprised at this.

Pretty much where I'm at. I also tend to agree that it's going to seperate the communities, as I doubt IW are going to ditch the (expensive) matchmaking in favor of what the fans clearly want.

I still have no intention of buying the game, but it's nice to know the community are still putting in the effort.

This makes me think: if someone/couple of people can this fast create dedicated servers, wouldn't IW be able to do it in a day or so? Instead they just said a big Fuck You to PC gamers who wanted them

No offense but the words 'no shit Sherlock' spring to mind. That was partly the problem with the lack of dedicated servers. Infinity Ward could've added servers, but just decided they wanted to be special and not bother.

It was significantly more work not too. They have all the code in MW which runs on the same engine, if I was them I wouldn't be so keen to dump all the money I'd invested developing the matchmaking service either (though I also wouldn't have been so stupid as to develop it originally, so I guess those two points counter each other).

There are many cracks out there to play the legit multiplayer version of MW2 for free, so all those who boycotted can go have a fuckin field day!

Unfortunatly, you were beaten to the punch and the Escapist already posted a News thread about this. Hell I can see it right now in the Latest content section.

Actually that article only stated about a "cracked" version of the game released last friday. Also it was updated saying that it only supported SPec Ops through Steam and not full multiplayer and dedicated servers.

If you were boycotting it for the lack of servers. Then don't buy a copy.

IW/Activision haven't put in the effort to give people what they want, instead someone's had to hack the game just to get the command console and servers.

You can also play the torrent version of the game MP now... and theres a ded server hack.

Sooo... Everyone who didnt pay money got a big reward. Anyone who paid cash is short 110 dollars and has a gimped game.

I can only play MP during the afternoon, a 2-3 hour window. The rest of the time I get matched up to Japanese games... I live in Australia.

So the ping renders the game, UN-PLAYABLE!

I can't even sprint, pressing the sprint button makes me sprint for 1/5th a second.
