the illusion of duality in good and evil, makes the world turn around. i generally play good, only because Tao is undifferentiated, in good we can persevere and generally, have an excuse to be evil while retaining dignity.

Whether people like it or not, American children are raised to consider goodness and justice as paramount.

Life may not always play out this way, but it is our ideal.

Most Americans will tend to veer towards being good. It's how we define ourselves.

Where did he get these numbers from? And what about us who play one side and then do the other right after? I'm sure most of us do that. I know that there are people who physically can't bring themselves to play the evil side, but it seriously can't be this bad. Honestly, I think he completely made this up. Followup link saying where he got this from?

Bullshit. I'm american, most all of my friends are American. Every single one that played Fable and Fable 2 picked Evil. Who wouldn't? It's less effort for more rewards with no consequences.

Phooey. I live in America and I've chosen the evil side almost every single time. There's something gleefully freeing about choosing the quick and easy path, and Overlord, Fallout 3, Fable II (natch), and KOTOR are all prime examples. I'm not so sure Molyneux has his statistics right, though I do respect his opinion.
Which puts all of you in the 10% mentioned. Your outrage is unwarranted.
And how do we even know his poll numbers are completely legit?
They're not poll numbers, but rather Mr. Molyneux's personal opinion.

I don't think he has a reason to be biased.
Well then how can he claim they're an accurate reflection of what's really going on? It may be his opinion, since he's Peter Molyneux and all...but still, it's just his opinion. Why not say it's his opinion right off the bat instead of providing these 'poll numbers' that we really don't have a way of verifying?

I seriously want to know what that guy is smoking.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I get a good vs. evil type game, I always play both sides. Might as well get my moneys worth. And I always go through the second time evil because it's just so much more fun.

Who here hasn't tortured someone?
Ahhh, the joys of making a sim go into a room, then removing the doors. Or telling them to climb into the pool, only to remove the ladder.

I have too much spare time...

OT: I cannot take this seriously at all without knowing where he got these numbers. Speaking for myself, I'll usually play a game 2 or 3 times, following good, evil and if the game allows, neutral paths. So I'm 33% evil, 33% good, and 33% neutral. Which is bullshit.

I am all evil all the time in my games. Good luck finding a single person alive in my evil characters world of Fallout3.

On a side note, where the fuck did the guy in that picture get the armor? You cant get armor in Fable 2

*in a deep,echoing voice* I didn't.

I find it hard to be evil in real life, and even harder in videogames. Vindictive - yes,but not outright evil. I may hate someone, but if there's a fatal threat to him,i'll end up saving him (and turning him over to the justice, hehe). I will never ever torture anyone "for fun and profit". I won't pick monetary benefits when there's lives that can be saved.*

And oh,all Anti-Americanists can suck cold,hard facts.

Fuck Yeah,indeed!

I said i can be vindictive.

*this applies both to video games and reality.

...you do realise that song was mocking Americans, right?

Don't let logic get in the way of your post though.

It was more profitable and easier to be good in Fable 2. Being good was the easy road, evil took effort.

I'm assuming that most of the American gamers here think this is bull. If not, (which I highly doubt) it's probably because of an inserted fear of God passed down by legions of r-tards. I suspect all those Americans who fight for good have years of feeling that you have to do right no matter what. It could be a highly religious society you are surrounded by as a child and only graduate from by willpower and superior intellect. This superior intellect caused you to be rejected by the minions of your school which led you here. Those who did not break out of the stupidity mindlessly follow ancient morality which is still effective at controlling people. religious morality which was originally created to make order on society. That is my theory on why many Americans would choose good. 90% seems ridiculous though. If that were truly the case for all players, I would say that my theory is almost definitely correct.

Oh yes,he does. But half of the people who use it simply twist it's meaning to indicate sucess, rather than mockery.

This cant be true... has he been engaged in conversation with a Republican American on CoD4? They say some pretty evil things, I mean come on! Who whispers "I am gonna rape you, oh I'm gonna rape you!" down the mic? Thats just disturbing.
republican? american? shit why bother. just say have you heard what anyone says on call of duty. i find it hard to believe that you make a point of asking your raper if he is american or a republican.
He had a deep south American accent and held racist views regarding their President... Republican American. And I didnt say he said those things to me, it was in game discussion. He was talking to all of the guys who kept hunting him down because of his ignorant statements.
thats beside the point that anon allows people to say whatever they want. like i said most people will act like assholes online at least once just because they can. this case in particular just sounds like he is conforming to a stereotype just for shits and giggs, much like the 10 year old who acts gangstaaa.
