So I finally got some time off from work and decided to go out with my friends. Go down to Natty Greene's, drink a few maybe see Jurassic Park in 3D & IMAX. Then I watched Netflix, and JESUS F***ING CHRIST JOHNNY BRAVO & SAMURAI JACK. SCREW MY FRIENDS.

So for the next 2-3 weeks I'm going to be as socially active as a mealworm. So make me feel a little better about blowing off my friends to watch 90's cartoons by admitting to your own loner moments.

When I brought home Bioshock Infinite.
Oh man, people thought I was going to reemerge with less weight and paler skin.
I didn't, thankfully, but looking back on it I probably should have...

"Hey dude, I was planning to invite you to go to DC with me and [insert two other friends here] over spring break, but I didn't because I thought you'd want to stay home and play video games instead."

I was once thrown out of a party, while heavily intoxicated, by a female friend's jealous Jack Daniels imbibing husband because some ***** told him said friend and I were flirting or some such. (We were not.)

Appealing to reason failed and I was basically "escorted" out by him and one of his buddies and they threatened me into driving off. I'm amazed I made it home. Suffice it to say, I haven't been there since and it effectively killed my desire to socialize with folks back home.

Oh...did you mean gaming related? Most days of my life fall into that category.

I game because I have no social life, I don't lack a social life due to gaming.

Most of my friends are getting older (not me though... I've always been old...), and social gatherings have slowed down (a lot) lately. I guess having "real" relationships, husbands/wives and kids eats up a lot of free time...

The last "big" get together we pulled off is some two months ago, when one of my friends left for Africa for a year. SO pretty much weddings and funerals now... (and birthdays, births, and going away parties...)

The moment I was at a park with 2 friends and fell into a ditch and my teeth went through my bottom lip and I couldn't feel the bottom of my mouth for 4 weeks because I partially severed the nerve. To this day, half a year later I still can't do any social activities without at least 4 people, half of whom I will barely know, mentioning and making a ditch joke/pun every 5 minutes. I no longer have much of a social life because i'm afraid i'm going to snap and put a knife through someones lip to make them realise a) it's painful and b) they are annoying the ever loving shit out of me.

So yeah, falling into a ditch killed my social life.

For some of the people in this thread so far:

Now, on topic, I do this on occasion. There are some nights when I just want to sit in and relax, play some games or watch a movie on my own. I expect the next time I will likely burrow away because of a new game release would be from GTA V, but until then I expect to remain fairly social, especially now that the snow has mostly thawed and the weather is getting far more pleasant. Though, I will concede, that XCOM has sucked more of my time away than I like to admit. There have been a few occasions in the past months were it's come down to a really hard choice for me to either get out and do something, or to go and do something, or to sit home and play another few missions on that, though I do think that part of that was also due to the snow, cold, and bussing.

Unless you count "being social" is talking to friends in far away places on steam and skype, then I don't have a social life...never had one.

School has shredded any social life opportunities i had. I still stick friends with one guy i knew from childhood. There was a black hole opening in there once too but i think the story would jtu bore you. lets just say when a good friends turns around and threaten to kill you because you got some power and refuse to abuse it for his benefit you dont want to get close to people for a while.

I work from home in a rainy climate and most of my hobbies (as you would expect) are indoor alone activities. Also I'm a sociopath. What part of this indicates I ever had a social life? Well, actually I did for a while, but I found it to be so boring that I wanted to rip my own ears off and whistle everyone to death (yay references).

I don't have a social life because there is nothing that happens outside that even remotely comes close to what I can get by staying home.
Watch a film, play games, board or otherwise, eat proper food, have a laugh etc.
What I find hilarious is that my friends used to desperately want me to go out drinking with them, for whatever reason, and they tell stories of what happens. These usually make me want to stay home even more. Tales of throwing up and sleeping in the up-chucked bile are rather common unfortunately, and I'd rather not have that happen to me.

I never really had much of an active social life, I have some friends I hang out with on occasion but I generally prefer to be alone. I've been like that ever since I was a kid. Social interaction generally drains me to the point where I need to spend the next day sitting in an empty room reading/gaming/watching movies in order to recharge(if I am able).

I'm a shift worker.
The last two times i've caught up with my friends have been 20+ hour days, with me falling asleep at the dinner table and having to go home by 9.
Oh, and I have 10 years less on my life expectancy than non shift workers. :(
