I start playing DOTA. I want to become better. Cue this happening. Let's also add when I came to this site. Feels awesome to have people I can talk with about loads of things. Feels bad to reject the social circle outside the Internet. But I don't feel an iota of hurt here.

Saving up money by working evening and night shifts with shitloads of extra shifts... for 2 years.
Keeping out of dept by still having evening shifts, unfortunately nearly every friday night, which is the day most people i know do stuff.

I thought this was social.

I guess I have to abandon discussions on here for real interactions.

bye

Well for me it was when my friend got a girlfriend. Before that I ussually went out with him and some other friends but since he has girlfriend he only goes out with her and I really don't bother to go out anymore. I guess I'm lazy.

Well you know that transition where groups of friends become groups of couples, all nighters and pub crawls are exchanged for dinner parties and other friends wedding receptions....

And such group of friends has that one guy, the one who's overly focused on his career and is the only one still single, the odd number at every social gathering.

About 6 months ago I was wondering why my group of friends didn't have any such misfit. Then a sinister realisation dawned on me, they did, me...

That was the day my social life died...

Oblivion

Then Skyrim

They've each claimed roughly 1000 hours of my life

Other than that I'm fairly social

edit: also Demon's and Dark Souls

edit again: and Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I'm just lucky I only really games with a definite end point, as opposed to multiplayer games that you can loose your entire life to.

Eh, I'm in Uni now and my social life has improved tremendously, not that my secondary school social life was that bad. What happened is, as always happens to teenagers who grow up around each other, my social group began fucking each other. About half of us (including me) started recreational drug use, the other half didn't. We'd still hang out, but drunk people and high/wired/tripping people aren't very good at interacting.

Eventually everything came to a head, the fact we'd all been sleeping with each other behind each other's backs was revealed, pretty much at the same house party. Half of us were high, so we didn't really know how to approach it with social nuance. The general jist of things was: Lisa was getting together with Jack, but then me and her had an inebriated encounter, then Jack and I had a fist-fight (I got the piss beaten out of me), he and Joan fucked to spite me (Joan was my ex) and so on and so on and blah blah blah teenage drama who cares.

Havin' fun at the pity party, everyone's havin' a good time good time..

Well...

Getting a girlfriend killed about 50% of my social life, since I started spending most of my free time with her. Breaking up with her later on killed my social life for a while, while I wallowed in my own self pity...

I got that back slowly as I found talking with friends who legitimately care about you about things really helps.

The main thing that killed my social life though, was when 90% of my friends got married within 6 months. Me being (mostly)single for the last 7 years, and seeing about 30(seriously, my entire graduating class got married within 6 months of each other, minus maybe 5 or 6 people) of your close friends getting married really makes you depressed, especially when you don't get invited to any of them.

When I was playing Fallout Vegas my friends staged a mini intervention because I hadn't spoken to anyone in two weeks. Bioshock Infinite would have probably been the same if it was longer.

I fear Animal Crossing New Leaf will be super evil in that respect :S

I tend to take most opportunities I get to go out, if it's with people I like. Sadly my friends are a bunch of boring fucks so I still don't actually end up getting out much.

The very moment I touched a PS1, more then 9 or so years ago.
...

OK, fine. It was really when I started playing the first Borderlands. For about 3 weeks my social life went completley off the radar. And then it never came back on, even after finishing it. Because I finished it again. And then after that, I played more and more RPGs. Still hasn't fully came back yet I don't think. Oh yeah, then I completed Borderlands another 2 times with another character.

Man I'm tired today. I really shouldn't be writing this post. I should be playing Borderlands again. Mmm, yes. That sounds like a good idea. More Borderlands... less sleep...

What is this social life you speak of?

In all seriousness I've never been that social a person. If it wasn't school related I probably wasn't there.

I thought that my last stint of no booze would've stopped me from going out, but then I managed to get a job at the club I used to go to so now I socialise with people at work, and I can still go to the weekly karaoke night just without drinking as it's just in the university bar :D

A little while back, a girl and I were kinda having something. Then, things didn't pan out and I'm moving away at the end of April. So, I decided that it wasn't a good idea to pursue things much to my regret. I told this to friends of mine and one of them is a vulture. He was just waiting to go out and get her. They started dating and things are quite awkward in my social circle.

Not-my-Friend-now of mine denies ever knowing that we had a thing and flaunts sleeping with her every chance he gets. I decided to remove myself from my social life and finish my last year before my internship. Still...kinda of a dick move on his part.

Once I finish my stuff, I'll go out and move on. I'll have some well deserved beers and make sure that I pick better friends from now on.

The last time I was "social" on a regular basis was 10th grade of high school. Then halo 2 and a few other online games sunk their teeth into me and well here I am. To be honest I was kind of tired of people and going out at that point anyway. I got all the being an athlete and outgoing stuff out of my system when I was young. Still can't help but wonder what my life would be like if the internet and online gaming never put their evil hooks in me. Oh well, guess I'll never know.

The moment I was at a park with 2 friends and fell into a ditch and my teeth went through my bottom lip and I couldn't feel the bottom of my mouth for 4 weeks because I partially severed the nerve. To this day, half a year later I still can't do any social activities without at least 4 people, half of whom I will barely know, mentioning and making a ditch joke/pun every 5 minutes. I no longer have much of a social life because i'm afraid i'm going to snap and put a knife through someones lip to make them realise a) it's painful and b) they are annoying the ever loving shit out of me.

So yeah, falling into a ditch killed my social life.
Well at least they don't ditch you, that would feel like losing a tooth. :D

Social life. . . hmm. . . nope, never had one. 98% of social interactions consist of any of the following:

Typing pointless replies to threads on the Escapist. Like this reply.

Talking to people over Skype when playing games (rarely).

Parents and/or dog wanting something done.

I've never had a moment where something has ruined my social life, I am always up for going out no matter what the occasion is. Running? Pub? Gig? Drive? Gym? Walk? Marathon a videogame or TV series? Yeah I am game for all of that at a moments notice! My friends mean a hell of a lot to me and would not neglect them if I had the choice of doing something else.
