Jesus Christ, the people in this thread.

People advocating for dog fighting because "it's in their nature to want to kill each other", people comparing animals getting killed to a laptop breaking. The hell is going on in the world that I wake up one day and see even one person proudly displaying these kind of sicko views?
Well, that is kinda the point of a forum, for people to discuss different viewpoints on topics. If you don't want to read posts which have a different opinion from yours, perhaps you should reconsider whether this site is for you?
And you're suggesting that I shouldn't express my disgust for such views upon hearing them, thus saying people don't want to read my post which has an negative opinion on other people's opinions? I'm participating in "the point of the forum" by giving my own opinion, don't get all sassy about it just because I disagree with half the people here.

Which, apparently, I don't...

You'll both be pleased/relieved to read my other posts which explain that my argument was indeed a false one.
I hope this restores some of your faith in humanity.
Though to be honest it was worth it to see that awesome GIF.
I suppose I appreciate that you don't actually feel that way about dogfighting (haven't met a single person who has ever thought what you've written in these many posts), but you also kind of hit a peeve of mine. Arguing a point by advocating from the other side in an extreme manner. My problem is with the manipulative nature of it. Perhaps you wouldn't have made as much of an impact if you had played it straight like in your previous post where you admitted you were lying, but the deceitful nature of the argument might just as easily diminish the importance of the point you were trying to get across. Also, mod gods might mistake it for trolling. Just keep it real from now on, okay?

Oh, and you're welcome for the gif. Feel free to use it any time you come to a thread and just want to say "FUCK IT"

I don't really see the funny part in animal cruelty. If you laughed at this, you're basically a ****.
Arguably, since non-human animals aren't people there's no more reason to feel empathy towards them than say a phone or a laptop that gets accidentally broken.
Personally I feel empathy towards anything that can feel pain and displeasure. I mean, what's the point of empathy otherwise?

That's fucked up and wrong. Some of the comments in this thread are even more fucked up and wrong.

Well, the point of empathy is help societies function by allowing us humans to understand each other and work towards a common good. It helps resolve the dilemma where for each individual, taking more than they give to a society is beneficial but if everyone cheats, everyone loses out more. Unless a particular animal remaining unharmed benefits our society, such as a dog used for hunting or companionship, there is no benefit to us to feel empathy for a non-human animal.

I'm telling you all now: eventually the animals will go sentient and they'll take revenge on us:

So when the lion comes knocking at your door with an AK...don't say I didn't warn yer *hides in bunker*
Cool song bruv. I love a bit of Streetlight Manifesto. Here's another that's particularly applicable to the situation.

Yeah... I don't feel empathy for my own benefit, sorry.

Maybe not a direct material benefit, but you get a good feeling out of empathising and considering yourself a good person yes? That is your benefit, not to mention that acting empathetically (within reason) helps your social relations with others and keeps society stable, both of which you benefit from again ;-)

So, now that i am done laughing, let's add my 2 cents worth.

Who didn't see this coming. News flash folks, bears like to eat meat. In this case a monkey.
Frankly, i'm surprised the bear hasn't gone after his trainers yet.

Captcha: Cut the mustard.
Don;t do that Captcha, monkey's taste great with a bit of mustard

You misunderstand. I certainly do benefit from feeling empathy - that's just not why I feel empathy.
