For the love of god I wish I could remember the name of this movie. I saw it on TV(was not a made for tv movie) back in 2006.

SPOILERS...for an unknown movie.

It is about a guy who starts dating a girl who has a low IQ(she isn't mentally handicapped, just not very bright). The girl has an absolute innocent charm that makes you view her more as a kid than a full grown adult. She gets pregnant, and they stay together to raise the child. The guy's family does not accept the girl, because she is poor, and well, stupid.

The guy refuses, but eventually he feels as though he does not love the girl, and it becomes apparent to her that he will not stay. In the end the girl leaves the child with the guy, and disappears. The guy is a good and loving father. The End. Sorry, wish I could tell this story better.

Anyway, if anyone knows the name of this movie, please tell me.

Grave of the fireflies.

I usually avoid depressing movies, but I don't believe any other movies I watched had the same impact as this little gem from Japan.

Requiem for a Dream, hands down. That movie was just...wow.
I will never understand how one can go down the path of Jared Leto if you have a hot babe as Jennifer Connelly as your GF > . > Great movie either-way.

That is all.

Kukukukukuku ... I laughed my ass off when everyone turned into primordial goo by Rei ... that was just .... "o.o, I hear you fap off hentai rendition of moi, time to pay the ultimate price!!!"- Rei > . >
Yeah, but You reminded me of Grave of the Fireflies. That was just too damn sad mostly because I have a little sister and Damn Straight Requiem for a Dream is by far the most depressing move I've ever seen
The only one I felt sorry for in Requiem was the mother. Everyone else caused all of their misfortune themselves, kinda hard to feel sorry for people like that.

Serenity, especially right after you watch Firefly. The ending was super-awesome, though.

Yes. I felt sorry for them a bit, but I realized they brought it on themselves. The mom at the end made me tear up so bad, especially when she had that dream about Harry being with her on the Gameshow.

T~T I cried myself to sleep thinking about that.

I thousand times this. I never cried so much over a movie before. Even a friend of mine who NEVER cries was reduced to tears after watching this. If you don't cry while watching this movie you are an emotionless robot.

well only the green mile out of the movies you mentioned is sort of sad. at the end of law abiding citizen i was just mad at the main char for beeing so stupid, when he's suposed to be this incredibly smart guy.

"Where The Red Fern Grows" traumatized me as a young child.

More recently... Not much. I don't watch depressing films. The best I can think of is "Gran Torino".

Lilja4Ever. Russian movie.
Incredibly soul shatteringly sad.
not really a Russian movie filmed mostly in Estonia a bit in Sweden and made by Swedish people in Sweden, although actors were mostly Russian or at least russian speaking some were Estonian.

made us watch it in school. not really that sad.
While everyone is moved differently, I am a bit shocked that
a 15 year old being kidnapped, raped repeatedly, and eventually committing suicide isn't shocking to you.

And there's the whole: her parents abandon her, her entire school and friends leave her and call her a slut, her only 8 year old friend who is beaten at home ends up killing himself with pills and vodka.

yeah, definitely, but the "directors cut" with the real ending, not the one where he tells the girl to "fuck off" but the one with the baby

that made me feel nauseated for a while

on a similar note, not the whole movie, but a part of "Akira" when "Tetsuo" kills his girlfriend by mistake and "feels" what she felt, i was so sad and depressed, never really knew why.
