we all know they exist. Those game endings that just offer nothing. No closure, no excitement, and most of all no satisfaction. While I try to think of my own least favourite ending, what are yours?

The original end to Fallout 3, for a few reasons, stands out in my mind:

The game was incredibly fun, so look up 'juxtaposition' in your dictionary.

The ending was atrocious for both the plot holes and the overwhelming railroading. Also the complete shutdown of your character when so much of the fun was in exploration.

Probably Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, most recently anyway.
It was partly because Ezio's story never felt properly wrapped up, but it was more because of the monumental cliffhanger. I was all "Wait, what? No, no, you can't just end there! Naww!"
Well, I guess it served it's purpose, they've definitely got another sale out of me for the next game.

The ending to Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil sticks in my mind.
Not because the boss battle wasn't fun, it was. But once you've won, the game switches to a cutscene where, instead of rewarding you with an awesome death animation, the boss casually dodges your rocket blast, picks you up, savages you and throws you to the ground until your character does something suitably heroic and goes out in a blaze of glory.

WTF? That's *my* blaze of glory! I beat him fair and square! I've just spent ten minutes shooting the scaly b*stard, now it turns out he can only be really beaten when the game itself takes charge? Gah!

Fable 3, mainly because everyone hyped up the whole being king thing, then the end felt very rushed and the actual last battle was anti-climatic and lame.

I think the ending to the original Fable takes teh cake here. It gave a storybook style ending to such an epic styled game. It was thoroughly dissapointing and the ending to the second was almost no better. both were also very anti-climatic with a game that was just building and then gave soft ending. I will never forget the ending in my book.

Majora's Mask. Why? Because it ended, that's why.

On a more serious note, I'd say Starcraft II. I just didn't feel the ending was that good, or fitted into the story-line all that well.

This. It was a major piss-off. When I beat the boss all I could think was "is it over? Really?".

I too expected something different:

Like Ezio actually dying or something, would be the best way to wrap up his tale

Fable 2 was a bit of joke, for me especially when you...

come back to life after being shot. Why? As far as I can tell there was no reason other than "you are the hero".

The final boss was pathetic as well, also I wanted to let him speak so that jerk Reaver got all the fun :-(

Final Fantasy 7, but then again that entire game was a huge disappointment to me. Hrm...

About 3/4 of all the endings in Mortal Kombat: Take Your Pick. Most seem to come to either a "pyrhic victory/noble death" kind of situation or go off on some tangent which seems completely unrelated to anything previously mentioned about the story of the game.

TMNT:The Arcade Game... many memories of loud raucous days gone by in arcade glory with three other random shmucks, drawn together to defeat that cheating bastard Shredder, chunking quarter after quarter into that machine for the better part of 45 minutes only to get a half-screen of text... massive Whoop-dee-whoop factor there...

I honestly can not think of one ending that was disappointing. Well, maybe Oblivion because once I became the hero I was not treated any differently.

While not technically an "ending" I was more than a little irritated with the Bioshock "twist". I suspected it all along and was hoping against hope to be proven wrong and felt slighted when it was revealed. Because I have been down that road before....the first time it was stellar. The second time it was "Meh, you guys must be out of ideas"

Bionic Commando '09 is genuinely the first time I have ever felt disappointed with an ending.

There were conflicting emotions but all of them boil down to disappointment through various means.
