Old boy was disturbing... Really makes you think about how there are always exceptions to even the most sacred moral laws.

Se7en. The different murders based on the seven deadly sins were disturbing, especially that one where that dude was a skeleton, man that was messed up.
The junkie that woke up when you'd assumed he was dead? Yeah that was an intense scare.

Most disturbing though... David Lynch's "Eraserhead" sticks out like a sore thumb. Not a viewer-friendly film at all.

Requiem of a Dream . . . didn't seem to have a point. I think it was about drugs, although I'm pretty sure the only way it would have made any sense would be if you were on drugs while watching it. Seriously a fridge attacked an old lady who happened to be doing speed. It was crazy weird
I'm pretty sure the point of Requiem for a Dream is that all these people were at one point brilliant and all had dreams and aspirations but they weren't realised due to drugs.

My choice would have to be hands down Cannibal Holocaust. Corny name yes, but if you've ever seen this movie you know what I'm talking about
Great shout. Disgusting film and not that good either.
The cruelty to animals in this film is horrific and completely pointless. It's there for shock value and no one warned me.
**Cannibal Holocaust contains real life animal torture and killing**.

This was also my vote.
Irreversible
Horrible. I'm not going to give any spoilers but be prepared for the film if you watch it. It's not a nice film.

On a side note, people's reactions to "2 girls and a cup" mean I don't want to see it.
If you don't know what this is don't search for it. It's a viral video.

Sade. Hands down the most fucked up movie I've ever seen.

Followed closely by Tromeo & Juliette, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas (I've never been able to get through it in one sitting) and the Toxic Avenger.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Horrible film.

Alien 4 also. It wasn't scary or anything, it just had a lot of pointless gore which did nothing for the film and everything to make me go ewwww.

In The Name Of The King. Even a retarded elephant with no feet would have done a better job. Pants-on-head-retarded that is.

I can't think of anything I found overly disturbing...

Horrible, yes. Slightly scary due to creepy sounds and screamer moments, yes. Otherwise, no.

I wonder if this is more a comment on modern life, there is so much floating out there for us to stumble across or search out online how can hollywood possibly compete when our minds are already so warped.

So either I am very innocent and naive and have never seen anything particularly disturbing or I've been so desensitised by the interwebs that nothing seems disturbing to me anymore.

That being said when I was a kid IT freaked the living daylights out of me though, I walked around in a perpetual state of fear for a long time, until I saw the ending, and somehow a big bug with headlamps on it's belly that seemed almost benevolent rather than the malevolent clown I'd dreaded pretty much cleansed me of all heebyjeebies I'd had.
Hey blame the hollywood and society all you want, but I actively tried to desensitize myself when I was a kid -_-

It seemed like a good idea back then. And it still kind of does.

It is indeed desensitization through film. Its just something people get used to its everywhere you look in the modern world.

For instance I used to get really scared by films like The Ring (the American remake I am ashamed to admit) yet now I could easily fall asleep to it and films like that.
Much like Gormourn said me and a couple of my friends used to search for the most messed up DVDs we could find just because of the excitement it brought us.

It is just the way culture changes, a lot of it is because of the 60's and in film this is no different. French New Wave brought along many changes in film, believe it or not if you wanted to portray a sex scene in a film the characters had to have their feet on the floor because it was seen that they couldn't enjoy it as much, whereas now its harder not to find porn on the internet.

Grimm Love

A movie based off a true story of a German man who finds his cannibalistic needs growing. He then toys with the thought of killing and eating someone until he meets a man on a website for cannibals who wants to be eaten.
Then
...they meet up, the cannibal bites the man's penis off first, cooks it for him, lets the man take a bite off of it first, then kills him.

What can I say other than I thought it was a horrid movie.

Although I do agree that it is horrific the film brings a strong message about the society in which we live. It is in there for shock value yes but the message is clear from the beginning.
I would point out this is not of the faint hearted, the animal killings are extremely graphic but it is still an interesting and important film and should be watched by anyone that thinks they can handle it. Although it is considered a video nasty, it has a far more important message that the likes of Evil Dead and I Spit On Your Grave (both classics mind) so watch it!

Is that based on a true story? It sounds somewhat familiar...

Either I don't get it or I'll answer your question in all sincereness: Yes it's based on a true story. Happened in 2001 in Germany.

And I don't get what there is to get... yes, I was being serious. I can remember reading about it a couple of years ago (obviously around 2001).
Edit: Ahh... I should have probably read the whole post before asking shouldn't I? I'm an idiot.

Un chien analou (An Andalusian Dog) by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dali. Made in 1929, 16 minutes long. Don't let the date or length fool you. Those 16 minutes will blow your mind.

It's a film written by two of the most prominent Surrealist of the era. It is amazing. I urge, nay insist you watch it. The beauty of it is, you can't analyse it.
